I don't know of any other books in print with this kind of resource list included. Dr. Schneider has combed the bookstores for ideas to give to other parents. There are also some great suggestions for talking to children about G-d and answering the frustrating questions kids ask about Judaism. Well done!

This is a very methodical, thorough step by step manual for investing your IRA or retirement funds in real estate. This book was very helpful to me for a number of reasons. A year ago or so I asked three different advisers at Fidelity Mutual Funds whether I could use my IRA money there to purchase and renovate a piece of real estate. They each said no. But this book says the answer should have been yes. That I can set up my own IRA, even a rollover IRA or Keough, and purchase and improve real estate with the money from the IRA. And the book is very methodical about how to do it, including forms and steps in the procedure. I would think the book would also be helpful to estate planners and lawyers who are helping people plan their estates. One thing I wish the authors would address is why should you put your retirement funds in real estate rather in the stock market or mutual funds. Are there tax advantages? Is the income sheltered? Is it easier (ie fewer estate taxes on heirs) to pass real estate on to heirs--is the value of real estate discounted somehow? I wish I had had this book when I was talking to Fidelity so I could have rolled over those IRA funds into this building I bought rather than borrowing money from a bank.

French scholar Hubert's classic history, Rise Of The Celts, traces the rise of the Celts and their influence on Indo-European peoples. Archaeological evidence support Hubert's investigation into the migration of Celtics into Europe and the British Isles, with black and white drawings and maps peppering a classic account recommended for high school levels on up.

Leafing through a family album of photographs is a pleasant experience, especially when in the presence of a grandparent. This book is exactly like a fine evening spent with an older relative and a stack of photographs, recipes, memorabilia, and the rich storehouse of memories in an old person's mind. I loved reading this book. It provided me with a chance to learn about the life of my grandparents. Even though they died when I was a child, this book helped me to find answers to the types of questions that I would have loved to ask them as an adult.

This book is amazing! The book is basically an autobiographical work that focuses on the bringing the awareness of the sacred into every day life. As you read over the pages you are struck by the honesty and the struggles Julie has with trying to "fit" into a space where she has outgrown spiritually. Very thought-provoking. It challenges us to take our own spirituality to a higher level as we enter the new millennium!

"I can only conclude that science has enormously extended the sphere of our responsibilities, while our consciences have remained the same size," says Butler at one point, aptly summing up some of the main themes covered in this book. Butler's various essays on pre-WWII and wartime Croatia (and other parts of the former Yugoslavia) were the main reason I bought this book. In several pieces written during the 1950s, Butler provided some of the first intelligent commentary (i.e. not propaganda) on the Nazi-supported Ustasha regime in wartime Croatia and the rather dubious role of Archbishop (later Cardinal) Stepinac, Croatia's Roman Catholic primate at the time. But the essays in this book deal with a much wider array of topics, from Irish culture and nationalism, through the Holocaust to literary criticism. Butler is most intriguing and thought-provoking when he speculates on the morals (or lack thereof) of modern man. Thus, in one of the book's most powerful essays, "The Children of Drancy," he writes about the deportation of over 4,000 Jewish children from France to the Nazi Germany (where they were sent to the gas chambers). He notes the enormity of just this one crime, which involved the collaboration of so many people (from politicians to the lowliest railroad technicians and clerks) and a highly-sophisticated, quintessentially modern and industrial division of labor, and how it has been almost completely forgotten - unike, say, Herod's slaughter of the innocents 2000 years ago.

I am a bride to be and this book is a must read for anyone planning a wedding. The book has different sections ranging from photography to cake cutting and each section is divided into halves. One portion being told from the mans point of view and the other from the brides point of view. It is a very easy read and it has some absolutely hilarious takes on wedding planning. It stays true to its title. It is a survival manual and it is amazing at relieving pre wedding stress. A must read for any bride or groom.

This was one of my favorite books as a child. At one time I had the entire collection, but somehow they magically disappeared over time. This would be a great collection to have once again. This book is essential to the collection. I remember reading this book night after night until I had the entire book down by heart. Truely a work of art.

James R. Giles' critical essays on Hubert Selby, Jr.'s work are a most excellent guide for interested students. Upon reading Selby's novel Reqiuem for a Dream, I was fascinated with his style and content. I proceeded to read Last Exit to Brooklyn and Song of the Silent Snow. After finishing these novels, I decided it was time to research Selby in order to compile a research paper for an English class. My passion for Selby's intense and tragic literature led me to Giles' Understanding Hubert Selby Jr. Giles' criticism was the most complete and accurate analysis of Selby's work that I could find. The edition covered all of Selby's novels with a clear, crisp, and concise diction. Giles' insight into Selby's tempestuous mind supplied the chief source and companion to my own essay on Selby. I recommend Giles' most tremendous essays to any student who loves Hubert Selby's dark and antiheroic works. I have yet to find a better analysis of Selby's novels. Every dedicated English student should explore the wastelands of Selby's imaginations, and Giles' criticism is the most capable and reliable guide.

The book is very usefull - if you wanna do some learning and thinking your self. I use it as an anchoring point in my seminars. It is good because it allows me to interpret it - not just to follow it - and reach out for the concrete situation of the everyday worklife of the participants in my seminars.
