Great Book
This book was very inspiring. I would personally put it us there with Conversations Wiht God and An Encounter With A Prophet.

Inspiring!
Truly a glimpse of spiritual power

A book for seekers as well as believers!
Shocky writes in such an easy manner that this book was a hard one for me to put down. Even after reading it, I found myself mulling over the stories and their powerful messages. It has definitely touched me and my family in a positive way, especially as I have put to work some of the lessons learned. What a wonderful gift this makes for a friend or loved one in need of a lift. It doesn't take long to read, but what a difference it makes!

Inspiring, Uplifting, and Heavenly!!
Where Miracles Happen is a wonderful book, which will warm your heart, bring tears to your eyes and leave you with such a warm feeling all over! Ms. Anderson has managed once again, to capture the essence of the miraculous in everyday life. With over 50 different accounts of true encounters with heavenly beings, one knows that God loves us, we are watched over, protected, and guided constantly throughout our lives. Sometimes, as shown by several of the stories, our deceased loved ones are with us and also watching over us.

Help is always available, one just has to ask for it, as the story illustrated of the mother who did not have enough money to feed her children and food miraculously appeared, or the child caught in the snowstorm and could not find her way home, yet was guided by a supposed neighbor, who was later found out to be sick that entire week, or the gentleman who was protected driving when his mother invoked safety prayers from him and avoided a collision where a dozen cars lost control, yet no one was injured.

There are also stories of healings and of our loved ones sending signs and messages to reassure us that they are indeed in a place of love and that they are indeed all right. It seems that their messages and signs bring such healing and release to those that they have left behind.

These stories will inspire you and lift you up if you are feeling blue. Sometimes we need gentle reminders from above, that we are loved and cherished and not forgotten, even though we ourselves may think so.

I love keeping Ms. Anderson's books near by and randomly opening them and reading passages after a long and particularly stressful day! I would also encourage anyone to check out Ms. Anderson's website, where one can subscribe to a true angel story of the week!

This book would be great comfort to anyone who has lost a loved one, as well as to those who are experiencing turmoil in their lives. The title of the book does indeed live up to its name and the miracles presented in this book are phenomenal!

Highly recommended!!

A Wonderful Book!
This is a truly wonderful book. It will leave you with love in your heart and tears in your eyes. A book everyone should read.

Woman to woman, Thoughts and Advice
This book is fantastic! Its practical, step-by-step, reassuring suggestions and guidance are offered warmly and clearly from a woman who is herself a breast cancer survivor. Hester Hill is a breath of fresh air--from the specific tips on clothing, meals, and planning a hospital stay to making critical decisions about surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy. A vital part of Hester's advice is her strong belief in support groups--as she, somehow, becomes part of your own support group through the compassion, love, wisdom, and down-to-earth knowledge that come through the pages of her book. Every word is a nugget.

A reassuring and practical guide to breast cancer treatment
When I was diagnosed with breast cancer six years ago, one of the first things I did was read a great number of books. I found there were three types: 1) books about the disease itself, 2) books about treatment and 3) memoirs. As I progressed through treatment and a series of subsequent breast surgeries, I found the books on treatment the most frustrating because they were so focused on the medical aspects.

What was not available then was a book like this, which is a very practical and reassuring guide through the treatment process. Written by two breast cancer survivors, this book has two special characteristics: 1) it is reassuring about the ability to cope with treatment, and 2) it contains a lot of good down-to-earth nonmedical advice such as what to take to the hospital to maximize your comfort after breast surgery.

This book definitely fills an important need, even as the number of books on breast cancer continues to multiply. Sadly a number of my friends have been diagnosed with breast cancer in the last several years. One of the first things I do is buy this book and give it to a friend as she begins her journey. I encourage you to do the same whether for yourself or someone you love.

Wherever you live, a comforting guide to the care you need.
This easy to read, straight-forward, clear and compassionate book is filled with essential information that every woman who has faced this frightening diagnosis needs to know. The authors' gentle conversational style speaks to the reader like a knowledgeable friend. The comfort of their words originates from their own personal challenges coupled with their professional knowledge of what the journey entails.

Anticipating questions and personal needs, the book logically takes the reader through the process of treatment and recovery. It provides a foundation of solid information and resources. Despite the gravity of the diagnosis there is a positive supportive tone that acknowledges that a majority of women can emerge from this terrible ordeal and do it with strength and dignity.

It's so comforting knowing that one is not alone. The resources within this book apply no matter where a woman calls home. In this technologically connected world, a woman living a distance from a major metropolitan area can also find ways to navigate her care from reading this lovely book.

Knowledge is power. The authors clearly believe in the strength of their fellow sisters. This is their gift their way to use their considerable talents to assist others.

Well Produced Series
The DK Read & Listen books and tapes are so well produced, I don't mind listening to the tape or reading the book over and over to my 5-year old. We liked the Robin Hood book so well, we also bought Oliver Twist. The tapes are great for the car.

Classic story, well told.
Like most people, I've heard the Robin Hood story many times. No real surprise there! What makes this rendition unique is Mr. Gruffudd's wonderful voice, the book that doubles as a resource, and, of course, the wonderful story of a man more determined to do what was "right" over what was "legal".

Mr. Gruffudd just has a way with British accents. Robin's band of men apparently come from all over the UK - Cornwall, Irish, King's English accents (plus more that I couldn't easily identify) were used. And of course, Mr. Gruffudd's natural Welsh accent told the story.

The book was great. Lots of pictures, lot of sidebars of information. From obsolete jargon to modern pictures of people in costume, these pages in the book help to explain a lot.

The story, of course, is a classic. I would caution parents of sensitive children to consider editing the last chapter or so. Instead of ending the story with the "happily ever after" once Robin and Marian are married, this book follows Robin until his death at the hand of his cousin, who betrays him.

All in all, it was highly enjoyable. A definite recommend!

A Jolly Good Time!
As a former elementary school librarian, I heartily recommend this audio book. It's beautifully read by Ioan Gruffudd (TV's Horatio Hornblower - more great audio books he's narrated!) and should be enjoyed by a wide range of listeners, even through high school-age students.

The book is a Dorling Kindersley publication, so it's chock-full of visual information and provides outstanding explanations of medieval culture, terms, and expressions. The subject matter ties in with several topics, including folk tales, British culture, adventure, and history. The tape and book should encourage lively classroom discussions.

I can visualize playing this audio book during classroom art time or as a reward. It could also be the inspiration for a classroom play. And, of course, it's a wonderful purchase for children or grandchildren for home enjoyment. Best of all, the price is quite reasonable and delivery couldn't be easier.

Just Marvelous
I am a crazy dog lady. I admit it. I can't pass a dachshound without stooping to say hi. My husband and I have even been known to park our car down the block so that we can casually stroll down the street and "accidentally" make the acquaintance of a sprightly-looking corgi or retreiver. Pathetic, we are, completely pathetic, but we absolutely don't care.

Anyway-- this is The Pathetic Portland Pooch Lady's favorite dog book ever. You won't believe the illustrations until you see them. It's done like a sketchbook-- dozens of different images all crowding together with occasional splash pages or portraits. On a single page, you might see: a dachshund skeleton next to a wolf skeleton; a dachshund in a snowy landscape bravely facing down a boar; the same dachshund being carried off by the boar; and a light pencil sketch of the dachshund staring at a hedgehog-- "the only game I ever saw him corner," according to Poortvliet.

The book's other great strength is its honesty. It's screamingly funny at times, and of course, some of the pictures are real heart-melters, but there's nothing posed or plastic about it. Poortvliet gets all his laughs, and all his tears, from dedicated and truthful observation, and from mastery the arts of storytelling and illustration.

In other words, buy this book. It's a treasure.

Heart warming story for all dog lovers
This is a wonderful, heart warming story for all dog and animal lovers. The art work is beautiful, worthy of framing. The authors connection with dogs comes through loud and clear as you read the story of losing a fur covered child to finding another companion, not to replace but to continue lifes journey with. Great book for all the right reasons.

most exelent drawings with lots of feelings
The drawings tells you that the author has many wonderful feelings for his models persons, animals and simple living in the countryside. Just great, it even sometimes makes you feel like crying.

Very enjoyable
Well thought out characters, snappy dialog, and a refreshingly different plot made this novel a very enjoyable read.

A definite keeper
I love Joan Wolf, and this is one of my favorites. I just love the opening lines of this book. Right away, I want to know about these people. She is an expert at drawing you in and making you care about the characters. I noticed some reviewers were disappointed in the lack of sex scenes, but that is one of the reasons I like her books so well. These are character driven romances and the first person POV gives you the opportunity to really get to know the heroine.

Book is so good that she won me over even when I resisted!
This was my first Joan Wolf book. After the first few words, I wondered if this would be my last. After I finished this book, I could not wait to get back on-line to buy more of her books!

I do not ever recall reading a romance book from a first person point of view (POV) and I'll admit I didn't like it at first. But I kept reading it because I thought it would be too shallow of me to stop reading just because I wasn't used to this POV. What if it was a great book anyway? Of course, my intuition was correct and the book is a definite keeper. And keeping an open mind did have it's rewards. And the rewards are so so sweet. (But grab a hankie just in case! HINT, HINT) When the plot starts to thicken, you'll also realize how clever Ms Wolf was for writing this book from the heroine's POV.

Once more light was shed on the horoine's past, I regretted my earlier luke warm feelings for this book. Oh what a fool I was! I wanted to reread the book right there and then! I was amazed. I was awed. I was won over completely and so will you. This book definitely goes on my keeper shelf and if you haven't read The Arrangement yet, you are missing out on a very good book. Don't fret too much over the mild sex. If you read my other reviews, you know that I do prefer steamy if not explicit sex scenes in my romance books but I'm flexible and variety they say is the spice of life. I had just gotten through reading Susan Johnson's latest novel anyway so I was ready for a break and The Arrangement was just what I needed.

Time Travel and Neology
I admit it: I am a sucker for time travel stories. They don't even have to be any good. I'll still read them, and probably like them.

This book, however, is quite good. It takes the time-slip convention and turns it into a scientific "fact" by giving it a fancy sounding name: dechronization. Just the fact that it uses a pseudo-term like that would make it a favorite with me even if it was written in gibberish, but I have a thing about neology. Since reading this book, I have started slipping the word "dechronization" and all its variants into conversation whenever possible. It is my hope that one day this word will be common koine.

The other notable point of this book the reaction of Magruder to the dechronization. Since he is a chronologist, he knows that the chances of his being re-dechronized are beyond impossible. So he has absolutely no chance of seeing another person. Ever. But he doesn't give in to the hopelessness that I know I would feel. He continues to live. He takes a lesson from Robinson Crusoe, and makes a good life there in the middle of nowhere (or in this case nowhen).

All in all, I think this is a must-read for wannabe time travelers like myself. Or maybe just anyone who likes the linguistic oddities inherent in time travel.

A masterpiece
In the year 2162, the eminent chronologist Sam Magruder mysteriously disappeared while running an experiment. Some years later, while arguing about the possibility of being totally alone, the evidence is produced that Sam Magruder did not die in 2162, but was transported back in time some 80 million years! Engraved upon sandstone slabs, found in a bed of shale, is found the story of Sam Magruder's existence in the late Cretaceous period. Alone, with no hope of ever seeing another human being again, Sam survived, and this is his story.

The famous paleontologist George Gaylord Simpson penned this short story, apparently for his own amusement, but it is a masterpiece. Considering Dr. Simpson's field, I would have assumed that this story would be entirely about what Sam found in the Cretaceous, but that's only part of the story. As the opening chapter tells, this is the story of a modern (OK, future) man's coming to grips with his situation, one containing only danger and isolation.

I am sure that my words do not do justice to this story. This work is complex and fascinating beyond some lengthy works produced by noted authors. I recommend it to everyone.

A Review of "The Dechronization of Sam Magruder
The Dechronization of Sam Magruder is an intriguing story of science and adventure. It is about a scientist who constructs a time machine, is accidentally transported to the dinosaur age and is, as you may have guessed, unable to return. The story is an account of this journey through his eyes and the eyes of the future...
