Healthy eating and wonderful cooking!
This is by far my favorite cookbook! I've tried all 75 recipies in this book and loved them all! I hope Andy Ennis writes another cookbook on Cher's favorite foods!

Excellent, creative recipes with all the health benefits.
I don't usually purchase celebrity cookbooks, but this is simply a must for people who want low-fat, great tasting food. The recipes are easy-to-follow, the ingredients readily available, and the dishes are fabulous. Cher's chef, Andy, also provides a witty inside-look into life with Cher.

These surprised me: they're simple and good.
I saw this at the library, checked it out, and now I'm buying it -- and I don't usually buy celebrity cookbooks. EVERY recipe is good, sensible, and something I can actually prepare and eat! All my favorite ingredients are included; I plan to cook my way through the entire book.

The first gardening book I read cover to cover!
Although I've got a shelf full of every conceivable type of gardening book, there aren't many out there written specifically from the Midwest gardner's point of view. And this is the first gardening book that I would call a real page-turner! Joan takes the reader on a gardening adventure, giving us invaluable tips and opinions along the way, and showing us wonderful photos of her garden. Based on her perennial choices for sun and shade, I've already put together my wish list for next year!

I am the author! This is to say "Hello"!
The writing of this book was a self-fulfillment project. A graduate of Wisconsin's Master Gardener Program, I am pledged to do what I can to further gardening. Speaking to groups of people is nice, but a BOOK can reach many more people! I write to help beginners and intermediate gardeners come to terms with making gardens. I favor the organic way, but not exclusively. I love native and common plants, but not exclusively. I specialize in shade gardening, but, you guessed it, not exclusively! My book is meant to be encouraging. I am a senior citizen and I do all my own work. It keeps me young.

I read and loved every word.
This is the first gardening book that I have read every word of. Joan Severa has a very easy to read, colorful style of writing which is both informative and humorous. Nearly every plant she writes about is photographed and displayed beautifully. She goes through her garden development step by step, so that if one were creating a garden, one could depend on the book to guide one through the entire process. Joan makes a point of stating in the books preface that she is expressing her own opinion and that it is not necessarily the only way to do things, however; in the books content she expresses her opinions so strongly that one feels one had better not stray from her advice. Luckily I happen to agree with her in most cases. I highly recommend this book to novice as well as experienced gardeners. It is so packed full of usefull information that everyone is sure to learn something new.

Cybersafety: Surfing Safely Online (Teen Issues)

Cybersafety, Surfing Safely Online
This is the book I've been searching for! My kids and I both use the Internet, but since they are more adept than I am at web-surfing and chatrooms, I needed to become savvy at heading off the dangers they could encounter. Joan Vos MacDonald provides a much needed map of the terrain, and specifics on how to avoid and deflect trouble. Cybersafety is sensible and respectful of both parents and kids, undermining neither. Now, I can talk to my kids without being alarmist or playing cop, and I also have a better appreciation for their choices and activities on the Net. I highly recommend Cybersafety, especially to read aloud and discuss!

An excellent practical guide
I found a lot of very good, practical information for keeping safe on-line. I thought the writing was clear and easy to understand. I've bought two additional copies to send to young people in my family who use the web a lot.

Cybersafety in an insecure world
Joan Vos MacDonald has managed to give us web-surfers a much-needed security blanket. She has written an insightful book that makes us aware of the ignorance, and, perhaps, naivete, with which we approach the worldwide web. If any of us assumed that surfing the internet was a secure and, somewhat innocuous, exercise, Cybersafety: Surfing Safely Online has brought our mistaken assumptions to light. This book should be on everyone's MUST READ list, and should make its way to every parents Christmas stocking.

A pre-historic love story
I read this book at first with a bit of apprehension, would it turn into a "men are evil and women are sinless" kind of a story?
I am happy to say it did not. It is a fresh story of love and partnership set in ancient France 14,000 years ago. Alin and Mar learn to see eye to eye in their two seperate views of life. A good yarn followed by the just as good "The Horsemasters", which is set several years later.(the young girl Fali is now the Old One)

Prehistoric Romance
An enchanting tale about life in prehistoric France. How tribes interacted and customs change. A love story with a great ending. I enjoyed this book more than Jean Auel's books. Quicker paced, harder to put down.

The greatest book for historical fiction lovers.
I read this book in my late teens and found it to be completly spell-binding. My first book that actully held me with pleasure for reading! Note; i do not believe that this book is sutiable for people under 16 years of age. But for us adults, it is wonderfull!

Adorable Halloween book
Better than most Halloween books I've seen for preschool or kindergarten. Colors are bright and bold. The rhymes are well done. With the sounds the creatures make, it's also a good phonics lesson. And the flaps that you lift held up well under multiples readings. Most of all, it's just a cute book. I've given copies in place of candy to friends/family's kids at halloween this year.

Boo-tiful book for preschoolers
The art in this book is really nice. The rhyming story is simple but well-written and my sister's preschoolers love it. I also found this to be a good phonics lesson. My favorite pages are the cute vampires hanging upside down. One of them is holding a teddy-monster. The ending is fun.

Great introduction to Halloween - fun & silly
Great book to introduce young children to popular Halloween characters... pumpkins, spiders, skeletons, monsters, etc. ... in a fun, light-hearted and non-threatening way. Illustrations are bright, colorful and very cute. Each two-page spread features a single character with a simple rhyme and under-the-flap surprise. Book also has a very cute ending.

I read many Halloween books looking for just the right one for my 14-month-old. This is it. My daughter loves it.

Note: Pages are a heavy, slick paper not the heavy cardstock found in a lot of lift-the-flap books. This is a good in that it is easier to flatten out the flaps again if tiny hands bend them. But bad in that they're probably easier to tear. Probably best reserved for supervised reading.

What's next for Elim?
Our family loves this book and can't wait to see what future adventures are in store for Elim.

Upbeat From the Get-go!
This adorable book gives little tykes a taste of Alaska--and the determination and spunk that characterizes its citizens. Its lively spirited humor and expressively illustrated pictures teach children early on that it pays to follow your dreams and never give up. "Elim" is good material both for reading to small children--and children learning to read, with helpful educational questions and vocabulary list at the end,

Christy Lowry

A great story that encourages children to do their best.
This story is based on a real dog's experience along the Alaskan Iditarod Trail. The illustrations tell the story in great detail. Children particularly enjoy Elim's facial expressions and actions. It is an inspiring story that every child will enjoy.

Tells me what I wanted to know
in just the way I would like to be told--a highly literate and accessible book, full of stimulating vignettes about real families, that leaves me (a psychotherapist working only with individuals) feeling I finally have a useful map of the famly therapy world. Dr. Gerson is able to explain family therapy to someone who really doesn't know much about it, and moreover to explain the approaches of the different schools of family therapy. She also nimbly travels back and forth between the points of view of the family therapist and the therapist working with individuals--making it very easy on this reader, as she raises and answers my own questions, and many I wouldn't have thought of.

The Embedded Self - A Layperson's Perspective
As an educated layperson with a longtime interest in psychology, I found the Embedded Self to be one of the best books in the field I have ever encountered. Gerson gives a fascinating overview of family therapy and shows how psychoanalysis can provide a meaningful lens into family dynamics. I found Gerson's approach to theory be that rare combination of high level scholarship with lucid writing and explication. I think this book will be appreciated by professionals, students, and the lay populace alike. Highly recommended.

The Embedded Self: A psychoanalytic guide to family therapy
As a recent graduate of a Ph.D. Program in Clinical Psychology who does both individual, psychodynamically-oriented psychotherapy as well as family therapy, in a public mental health clinic, I found Dr. Gerson's book to be extremely helpful. Dr. Gerson is one of those rare clnicians who are able to write about clinical work in a very alive, thought-provoking manner. In this book Dr. Gerson both delineates the fields of psychoanalysis and family therapy extremely clearly. More importantly, however, she conceptualizes an innovative, integrative model for thinking about the relationships between the two modalities. The book can be appreciated by people on different levels, from extremely senior analysts and family therapists, to more neophyte therapists, to graduate students in any clinical field. I highly recommend it.

5 Stars for 5 Stars
Tis is an excellent book for explaining leadership principles, based on the ultimate test of leadership-combat.
The book compiles lists of leadership traits and practices from some of the leading military manuals and strategists to create a terrific reference source. It makes suggestions on how to create a self-evaluation list for measuring one's leadership skills, knowledge and abilities and how to improve them.
As a former Marine NCO, I still use the techniques and understanding from the Corps. THis book is an outstanding refresher course or it stands alone for everyone.

The Ultimate Book on Leadership
Patrick Townsend and Joan Gebhardt draw on all the available sources (big industry and the military) to create a book full of leadership skills that is in an easy-to-read format and very practical to use. If you are a leader or a follower, this book is a must read. I am a student of leadership (Navy Officer with 17 years experience) and I have never read a finer book. Get it, read it, and then read it again!

Can you train leaders? With this book you can!
Too many people think that leaders can only be born, not trained and/or nurtured. It's a good thing that the US Marine Corps does not believe this. If they had not trained leaders, I would have grown up in New Tokyo, instead of Los Angeles.

Forget the stereotypes and take advantage of 2,000+ plus years experience of studying leadership and training leaders.

A wonderful series for all ages...
Everyone should have the opportunity to believe in their own ability to accomplish a dream. With Flying Frog Circus, you not only become a friend of Mona living in the Land of Ican, you identify your own need to go after your dream. It is better to be included and fail, then to be excluded and not given the opportunity.

Excellent!! Children learn that anything is possible!!!
This is an excellent children's book. Children learn that they can accomplish anything if they have the right attitude. This is a rare and wonderful book about a unique group of children, each child with a disability, who discover that they can succeed if they just believe in themselves. It's a wonderful perspective that every child should see.

Inspirational for all children
It allows disadvantaged children the courage to both look for and find their place in a world which they have felt left out of. In the land of ICAN everything is possible!!!!!! All children need to know this truth. The Flying Frog Circus helps show them the way.
