Excelent introduction to computer programming
This is the book for anyone interested in learning the principles of computer programming. The authors use a clear language that even people that never programmed a single line can understand. The basic algorithms are explained in detail and the algorithmic language defined in the book is easily translated to any computer language.

The Best of Ternodynamics
Is a book wich explain detaily, all the laws on termodynamics, has a very good examples and excercises. Another issue, it works on International systems Units, and is very good because the world is changing for using that units on all the industries, it has conversion factor for English and metrics units. I recommend it as the best book for the begining on Termodynamic studies.

One of the Greatest Books of the Late 20th Century
Author Richard Grimes speaks truth in a way that so very few dare. He touches on the much under-documented Rockefeller Administration during the 70s and 80s in poverty stricken West Virginia. In this feeble age where family dynasties permeate our American landscape, the Rockefeller name is no small player in the game. One could never know just how powerful, and yet decievingly humble the now Senator Jay Rockefeller was during those dusty days of Mountain State politics. Grimes shows what those in West Virginia must have known for decades: Rockefeller played savior to a needy state, but only got as far as his family dollar would allow. Grimes' evenhanded, yet painfully honest writing represents last from a rare breed of 'old school' journalists. The writing in this book is some of the best that this generation has to offer. His work continues to serve as an inspiration to me. Kudos Grimes!!!

A Jay jubilee
This book provided especially good insights into the life and times of John Jay. I especially enjoyed the introduction by Richard B. Morris.

As usual...
Keats is wonderful. However, a reason to purchase *this* version over other publications is because of Jack Stillinger. He was my english professor and the man is an expert on all things Keats. It was a pleasure learning from him and his essays are always worth reading.

Absolutely fabulous
The best Sargent book yet. Volume I was good but volume II is even better. This volume covers the 1890's when the artist really got into his stride as a portrait painter and the paintings are magnificent.
The book is well set out with at least one illustration to a page often with portrait sketchs and background information if available. The quality of the reproductions is very good (as in volume I) and the information clear and well structured.
A must buy for Sargent fans (even if like me you thought you didn't need volume II because you already had volume I). The authors have done a great job.

A delightful memoir
This is a delightful book--an intelligent and engaging memoir of a long friendship between one of America's most popular writers and a self-effacing Californian who spent a part of his life as an academic, another part as a small-town newspaper editor, yet another part as a state bureaucrat, but who in the end was remembered more for his relationship to the author of The Grapes of Wrath, Of Mice and Men, and East of Eden. When Steinbeck died in 1968, Sheffield confessed that the writer was "the best friend I ever had." If Sheffield was not the best friend Steinbeck ever had, he was an important influence on him--first as a classmate and roommate at Stanford, later as best man at Steinbeck's marriage to his first wife, and for years after as a drinking companion and literary sounding board. As Steinbeck climbed the ladder of literary immortality, Sheffield saved his letters, collected reviews of his work, and assembled important facts of his life. The result is this book--not a biography, by any means, but a rich and engrossing recollection of an immensely gifted writer at work and play, in good times and bad. It is unfortunate that the book is so badly edited (the published text is rife with typos, some almost unreadable sentences, and even some misnumbered endnotes). But none of this is Dook Sheffield's fault (he died in 1989), and, in the end, his love and respect for Steinbeck conquers all these petty obstacles.

Important Work Available Again At Last!
Vaughan's series of books on Valois Burgundy have long been a staple for anyone interested Burgundian history and culture. After a long stretch of being out of print, and very difficult to find, these new editions are sure to be welcomed by many historians. Added to Vaughan's work is a fantastic new introduction written for the 2002 edition by Malcolm Vale (another historian I would readily recommend).
While these works may be older, and more recent work has been done on Burgundy, Vaughan's scholarship is still first-rate. A must for the bookshelf of anyone interested in Valois Burgundy, or Northern Europe in the late 14th and 15th centuries.

Breathtaking!
Each turn of the page reveals another exceptional view. It's easy to take gorgeous landscape photos of New England in Autumn, but Richard Creek goes far beyond that. The lighting, cloud conditions, reflections, and seasonal conditions bring out the most in each photograph. I want to frame each one and hang it on my walls, or better still, visit each place and hope to see and capture a similar moment. I hope Mr. Creek follows up with a series of other states.

Hey Amazon, fix your typos!
The title of this book should include the phrase "Three 17th Century Social Democrats". This phrase is garbled here.
