Accessible,useful Reiki information
Having about 20 years of study and practice in various healing systems, I recommend this book as a practical and comprehensive tool for the study of Reiki and life energy. It will be of interest to newcomers for the history and basic techniques of Reiki. It will be instructive to practitioners and teachers through the case histories and integration with chakra energetics model. The knowledge presented is in the tradition of the original method which provides energy balancing at all levels-physical,mental,emotional, spiritual. This book illustrates the on-going development of Reiki as a growing complentary modality in the healing arts. John Harvey Gray is one of the original US Masters and has dedicated his life to sharing and teaching Reiki through classes and the establishment of Reiki wellness centers.

Amazing content throughout the entire book!
This is a very unique book that has some Qigong information that I haven't seen anywhere else. It focuses on combining several treatment modalities that have a synergistic effect that increases the speed and quality of the healing for many different problems. Much better than hearing about how this one thing is the very best or that one thing is the best. It's a combination of several things that work really well alone and they work even better when combined in the specific way this book talks about. This book has some incredible case histories that you just have to read for yourself. I have experienced the results on myself and can say first hand how easy, safe and effective it is.

A must for personal healing and all professional healers
Both a doctor of psychology and a Hawaiian shaman, Dr. Serge Kahili King brings a truly unique perspective to mind-body medicine, and all its potential. "Instant Healing" is a remarkable compendium of profoundly powerful but simple to use techniques based on his own vast experience. And they work!! I tried one specific technique on a physical problem I have, and in 24 hours, the difference would have been called miraculous by traditional medical standards. Instant indeed, and truly mind-blowing. It's amazing how simple it can be! But the techniques aren't just for phsyical problems. For anyone interested in healing the wounds of the past and/or creating a more promising future, "Instant Healing" is equally engaging and rewarding. For professional healers of any kind (traditional or alternative), it's a whole new tool box to play with. Mostly, I loved Dr. King's accessible, encouraging writing style. It's comforting and inspiring at the same time, as if his intention was to heal the reader through his very words. It's a must have for anyone who wants to tap the deepest healing power of the mind.

A beautiful message beautifully presented
This beautiful little book drew my attention when I was "browsing" the natural health shelf at a local bookstore, not looking for anything in particular, just wondering what would call out to me. I knew nothing about Reiki at the time. But I loved what the title addressed: healing energy for mind, body and spirit. That's for me! So I paged through to find a world of beauty: Beauty in the graceful layout and generous number of lovely photographs. Beauty in the simple text that serves as a beginner's guide to Reiki: it's history and principles; the healing treatments involving the endocrine system, seven chakras, emotions and basic hand positions; first aid practices to relieve headache, back pain, stress and other common ailments; special treatments for children, the elderly, pets and plants; Reiki and other therapies such as color and crystal healing.
It truly was an introduction that motivated me to study more, find a Reiki teacher and learn to treat myself and others with Reiki as a spiritual way of life. Though I have since read many other worthwhile books, more detailed or inclusive, I still go back to this beauty for inspiration and guidance.

Learn the major philosophical ideas of yoga
This book is for the intermediate to advanced student or teacher of yoga who wishes to understand the definitions and inter-relationships between the concepts of classical yoga. For those interested in the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, this text will help you access the ideas that lead to liberation. A clear understanding helps one's spiritual practice. This is a short book that is read slowly and digested. It serves as a reference to review from time to time as well. Enjoy! It would be a good gift for someone who is really into yoga, but not the choice for the novice.

Great book for a busy lifestyle
I was very depressed over the past two years and didn't know what to do. Also, my weight problem went over the roof, I went from 109 lbs to over 140 lbs in half year. I bought this book because a friend of mine has taken Master Bai Yin's class in Germnany before and she recommended that I gave it a try. I followed the book and practiced for three months, and now my weight dropped down to 114 lbs and I feel great about myself. I didn't know anything about Natrual healing therapy before and didn't believe in it either, but this time I have to say that it really works. The great thing about this exercise is that it doesn't take much of your time. I usually practice 5 to 10 minutes a day, and feel all energetic afterwards. So I recommend that this is a great book for anyone with a busy lifestyle.

An Excellent Book!
This is an English translation of Master Li Ching-yun's teachings on the Eight Brocades. Master Li is reliably chronicled to have lived more than 250 years, attesting to the efficacy of the Eight Brocades qigong practices.
The author presents an authentic yet accessible approach. Each exercise begins with its original text (from the Kao Lin stone engraving) and is followed by Master Li's interpretation, and explanatory comments from Olson. Also included are step-bystep instructions for each exercise, fully illustrated with detailed photos.

A Solid Intro to QiGong
Check out the fittest people in any gym, and you will usually note that flexibility is a key component of their program. Check any truly spiritually centered person, and notice the glow of serenity than surrounds them. Combine both, and you understand why Western thinking is scurrying to latch onto QiGong.
Combining gentle, flexible movement with breathing and visual meditation, Qi Gong is difficult to learn by book alone. Having said that, I found "The QiGong Year" to be the most helpful of texts in introducing this method of movement which promotes positive qi (energy), healing, and a healthy mind. Mr, Bruney breaks his introduction to the phases of QiGong down on a month-by-month basis, and writes in easy to follow prose, focusing on the Ba Duan Jin (8 Fine exercises). Some poems, meditations and Taoist traditions help explain the value of the program. And the illustrations, paper and colors used in publishing this book were very carefully chosen to maintain harmony with the theme of the writing, something rarely promoted in Western literature.
Obviously, the best way to learn QiGong is through work with an expert. Barring that, The qiGong Year makes for a very acceptable substitute.

A great start for beginners
This is a book that once I started I could not stop. The author takes you on a historical journey on how reiki began to what the mysterys are behind this unusual healing method. I especially liked the fact that it was short but concise. I purchased other books that also covered this subject but found them over whelming! This was a joy to read!

wonderful book to have in your reiki collection
I really enjoyed this book. It didn't go into much depth of how reiki began but overall I liked it. I love how large the book is and that's it's hard cover. It also has many beautiful and colorful pictures to look at. It gave me some ideas on how I could use and enhance my practice of Reiki healing. It's one of the more eye catching and visual books that I have on Reiki. I also liked "The Power of Reiki" by Tanmaya Honervogt for it's beautiful colored pictures. There's something that I really find special about this book (Reiki Healing). The chapters are Universal Life Force, Reiki Principles, Using Reiki, Reiki Treatments, and Reiki and Other Therapies. Enjoy!
