THE book on THE printmaker
If you're interested in the prints of Martin Lewis, this is THE comprehensive catalog of his remarkable works. Considering it's price, it's probably not for the casual browser but, for real fans of Lewis' work, it is not only an indispensible reference work but also a handsome compendium of the artists printmaking output. If you enjoy 20th Century American prints, you'll love this book.

The authoritative source for data and theories
Although over 15 years old, this book is the best, most comprehensive treatment of available data (which has grown some) and theories (which have grown but not multiplied) on land vertebrate extinctions of the last 100,000 years. If you are a mammoth/sabertooth extinction hound, this book will feed you better than any other. It does require some specialized knowledge in a few chapters, but the gist is accessible for the educated layperson. It's worth hunting for or buying used.

A more recent offering still in print (though briefer) is "Extinctions in Near Time," Ross MacPhee, ed.

I appreciate the candor in labeling two of the major sections, entitled 'the theoretical marketplace: geologic-climactic models' and 'the theoretical marketplace: cultural models' which encompass variations on each of the two main theories for the extinction.

In addition to theories, the book describes the various mammals as well as their pattern of disappearance region by region worldwide. At 867 pages, it will keep you going for a while, but it's worth every page.

There is only one chapter on birds, only passing references to a tortise, lizard, or fish, and nothing on plants. I would love to find similar treatments for changes in characteristic flora for the same time period.

How video and sound can be integrated into Flash!!
This book will do exactly what they said wasn't possible by illustrating how video and sound can be integrated into your Flash presentations, placing you at the extreme edge of creative web design. The application of such tools as AfterEffects, QuickTime, SoundForge and Wildform test the boundaries of Flash and suggest ways to take sound and video beyond Flash and into the realms of Shockwave.

Showing you how to break your site down and incorporate video and sound, the techniques covered in this book capitalise on the capabilities of Flash whilst tackling its limitations head-on. It will then look at how to take web ideo and sound a step further with Shockwave presentations.

soccer - skills and drills
As a newcomer to soccer I searched for a book that could be used as a reference for basic skills and drills to use to practice and master the skills. This book has it all. It is a gem. There are step by step pictures of each skill and a drill(s) to practice the skill presented. I have and continue to use this book for and with my daughter. Unfortunately, it is likely very hard to find but by all means look for it or request it and perhaps it will be reprinted. Soccer is here to stay. This book was written by a professional British soccer coach who has worked with children so has the ability and knowledge of how to explain skills in an easy to understand way for all ages of soccer players, coaches and parents. We have attended private lessons, camps etc.... and this book covers the skills taught but in an easy to reference format. LOOK FOR IT, ASK FOR IT, AND BUY IT AND MOST IMPORTANTLY USE IT.....

It makes you appreciate things you didn't notice before
This book was a eye opening experience that allows you to appreciate something most of us take for granted -- SIGHT. It encourages you to look beyond the physicality of sight and to become acutely aware of the images you see from day-to-day.

Dr. Lester has performed a service for myself and anyone else who reads this book. It drives you to absorb more of the world that we "see" everyday.

I would recommend this book to anyone who has an interest in graphical design, imagery, or to those who want a deeped appreciation for the power that images play in our lives!
