Revolutionary War on Wednesday, is about two kids who go on magical quests for Megan, the librarian. In this book, Jack and Annie recieve another riddle to answer, from Megan. This time they must search into the past for clues on somthing to send to Megan, that way she can help Camelot.
I thought that this book was fantastic. It was the first Magic Tree House book that i had ever read, although its number 22. I would defenetly recommend this book to people who are interested in mysteries.

This book is about two kids named Jack and Annie and a magic tree house. In this book they go to the Revolutionary War and see George Washington.

I liked this book because they rode on the Delaware River with George Washington. And, they told George Washington to go on a stormy night.

I think the author was trying to teach to participate in things. She also was also trying to teach us to be willing to do things.

The first book in the series wasn't too bad. It was filled with suspense and exciting dinosaurs! However, after reading #2 and #3 I came to the realization that apparently the writing wasn't going to get any better. These books are written in simple sentence format, too juvenile for most kids I think. Also the author includes phrases like, "I'm going to kill her!" and living in the times that we do, I don't think this is appropriate. Also I didn't think the stories flowed well. They were way too choppy and broken up. We were left scratching our heads after some of it. Overall, I think you can do much better with other series'. The Boxcar Children would be one of my suggestions. I thought the premise these books are based on was so fun and held great promise. Oh well.

I have found this series very disappointing overall. The premise is great-- kids travelling through books to fascinating places and times. But the plots and language are so simple and the characters so undeveloped that I can't get my child (or myself) motivated to finish the books. Well-written non-fiction on the same topics would be not only more informative but more engaging.

The Magic Tree House books are wonderful for early elementary kids. My first and second graders love for me to read these books aloud. They are simple and uncomplicated with short chapters which could cause them to be a bit boring for older kids. Each book has Jack and Annie magically going to another time and place by wishing on a book left in the tree house. This series (I have #1-24) have really turned some of my non-readers onto reading.

I checked this book out for a young reader in my life - she tried it (about 30 pages), said "ugh," and handed it to me. We're both fans of mermaids and fairy tales and selkies and so on... so I gave it a shot. (I'm 28).

This book was in the young adult section at the library... and the whole time I was reading it I felt like Mary Pope Osbourne was dying to write a mermaid bodice ripper, but didn't want to upset her magic treehouse fans. The book had the elements of a fairy tale with the feel of a harlequin romance thrown in. (She only alludes to sex, but it feels forced or restrained - just not right).

I didn't give a poop what happened to the lord and his lady by the end... it was boring and silly, and I am astonished it has received so many good reviews here on amazon. I'd love to read the original story it's based on (and plan to). I have a feeling there might have been a lot more to work with that Osborne didn't bother to bring to the page.

Go read Hans Christian Anderson or a book on sea-lore instead.

The horrible paperback cover says enough in itself. The hardback (which I read, was much spookier looking).

It's a spooky story that captures the essence of a German Fairy Tale. The book is based on a mystery that surrounds a beautiful maiden named Undine. It's told from the perspective of the main hero, Lord Huldbrand.Over-all, the story is fast-pased. I was rather sad that it wasn't any longer. If you love sea stories and fairy tale-based fantisy, this is the book for you! Great read for young and old adults!

Isn't it great when a book really grabs you and knocks you off your feet? I was so sorry to come to the end. A hauntingly beautiful fairy tale for older readers. The love of Lord Huldbrand (spelling!) for Undine is powerful to begin with and it is fascinating to watch this love turn to suspicion to fear and even to loathing. The mysterious, mystical elements of the book are particularly well written. It's spooky without being scary. I am a Storyteller who loves folklore, mythology, and fairy tales. I am now searching Amazon.com for similar books. (Anyone out there have any suggestions?) This is just a very powerful work that is extremely well written. I'm not doing as good a job as I'd hoped in praising it (these reviews are tough to write, which makes me appreciate a well-written book even more!) so buy a copy for yourself and enjoy, I know you will.

I give this book three stars because it doesn't have too much action.It has a sabertooth tiger.A man calls himself the animal master he has the antlers of a raindeer and a mask of an owl.The anlers of the raindeer for speed and the mask of an owl for better sight.The characters arejack and Annie.They have to find m thing wich are different times to free Morgan of a spellcasted by Merlin.

I give this book four stars because it educates people of the life of a Neanderthal. I would give it five stars, but there's not much action. But, I think it also educates people about Ice Age wildlife, such as the wooly mammoth. The educational part also includes Neanderthal behavior and beliefs.

"Sunset of the Sabertooth" is truly a great learning book. Jack and Annie go to the time of the Ice Age, where they find the first humans on the planet, which are called Cro-Magnons. Jack and Annie are very cold, so they find a cave to stay in. But not for long, because there's a wet dog smell and snoring, which confirms that there's a cave bear in there! Well, read the rest for yourself. Also, if you want my opinion of the book, this is undoubtley one of Mrs. Osborne's best.

Also, there's something I want to tell all the people who read this book. On Encarta, I found out that the first Humans lived in the epoch that's the beginning of the Ice Age, namely the Pliestocene Epoch. I thought that it would be impossible for humans to live way back then, but this book showed me that Encarta was right, and gave me additional information. If you're doing research on the Ice Age, this will be a book you don't want to miss. Enjoy!

This is an excellent collection of american folktales which both I and my siblings have enjoyed. It is well written and very enjoyable on the whole.

I had to buy this book for an education class i am taking, and I very much enjoyed it. It is a wonderfully told collection of American Folk Tales which both me and my siblings have enjoyed.

An extended American family celebrates a traditional 4th of July, in this lovely picture book. Starting the day with a children's parade, enjoying pizza and popcorn, buying tickets for a raffle, then enjoying carnival activities, face painting, balloons, and finally ending the day with a barbecue, and concert under the stars with fireworks finale, the family has a wonderful time celebrating Independence Day. The illustrations are a little hazy, very nostalgic and timeless, with colors that depict the warmth and fun of the day. Any child who has ever attended a city park 4th of July celebration will recognize the activities depicted here. The text is short and simple enough to be included in a patriotic themed storytime for preschoolers. This will be a great addition to a holiday collection for which not that many books for children have been written.

I honestly loved the book. I bought it at the age of 12 at a book fair, and I loved it then. I'm now going on 17, and I still read and reread the book. It's an incredible book, and even my mother loves it.

Our girls read this after a trip to the Amazon, and found lots that they recognized & enjoyed. The standard of information is rather higher than that in the Magic Tree house books, which is reasonable, given that they don't have to worry about plot & characters as well!

If your child enjoys Magic Tree house, and would like to know more about the Amazon this is fine, but I would also recommend One Small Square: Tropical Rainforests (by Donald Silver). We took this with us to the rainforest (see review) and found it to be excellent.

I did not like this book because it had the most boring mysteries I have ever read.Like most boring books,the kids go somewhere, find what there looking for and, in the case of this book, fly back on a horse with wings.They say boring things along the lines of "how did you learn to read and write?My opinion is that it is a very boring book.

"Hour Of The Olympics" is good because of the ways you learn about the Olympics, and the Olympic events, plus the legend of Pegasus, the flying horse. So amazing, I almost applauded so loud my neighborhood could hear me! Trust me, you can't miss out on this one.

This book is about two kids named Jack and Annie. One day a magic tree house sends them back to the Roman times to the Roman Empire. When they got there they feel a tremble. After that they knew there was a Volcano. They fought and saved the Roman Times.
I gave this book three stars because it shows Annie and Jack were determined. And it was easy to understand. I recommed it because it is a nice story and there is a good message.

I discovered these books in my work as a teacher of reading to 2nd grade students. And students just love them!
Let me start by saying this is an excellent series of books. The way that Mary Pope Osborne incorporates: science, social studies(history/geography) and many other important academic elements into her stories is phenomenal!
The stories are exciting and well written. They have a way of drawing kids in and keeping them wanting to turn pages.
In our guided reading groups we usually read a chapter or two per day and the students frequently beg me to read more! That is how much kids love these books! Isn't that refreshing?
This particular installment in the Magic Tree House series finds Jack and Annie traveling back to ancient Rome! They happen to land in Pompeii in A.D. 79 on the day that Mount Vesuvius erupts!
This book incorporates two very popular elements for young children: volcanos and magic. It is undeniable that young students are intrigued by the power of volacanos. They love to read about them and this particular book is a great way for them to start researching.
Jack and Annie's adventures never fail to thrill readers and keep them interested.
I highly recommend these books for students in early elementary school. They are excellent for students in 2nd grade. Enjoy!

The purpose of fantasy is to enable children (and adults) to experience what they never could in reality. Every child knows that no adult would send him to the vicinity of a rumbling volcano--which is exactly why they love stories in which things like that happen. Seeing make-believe heroes in danger and seeing them get out of it is one of the ways children learn to be brave and optimistic. If a 4-year-old loves these books, then he's getting something useful out of them. My 8-year-old loves them, and I will happily keep reading them to him as long as he wants!
