Great Book!
I first read this around 1967, when I was 10 years old. I remember it quite fondly. It felt very real, read very smoothly, and the pictures were amazing, if a little gory. I strongly recommend this book for young readers. I'm completely impartial, too. My mother and grandmother were the co-authors! :)

A thoroughly entertaining retelling of the classic legends
Superbly illustrated by Gustaff Tenggren, and collaboratively retold by Emma Gelders Stern and Barbara Lindsay, King Arthur And The Knights Of The Round Table is an informative and thoroughly entertaining retelling of the classic legends of King Arthur and Camelot for young adult readers. Filled with museum quality, stylized full-color artwork, King Arthur And The Knights Of The Round Table presents the whole course of King Arthur's life, and those of his allies and enemies, in skillfully narrated, straightforward prose immediately accessible to young people of intermediate reading skill and above. King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table is enthusiastically recommended for personal, school, and community library Mythology & Folklore collections.

A pleased parent
I cannot believe how my son is reading! I bought him the first 8 books for Christmas and by New Years he had read all but one - on his own! He'd rather books than movies!

Afternoon on the Amazon - book #6
Meet Jack and Annie. Jack is an eight year old boy who seeks adventure. In every trip, Jack takes notes to learn more interesting facts. He carries his little backpack almost everywhere with his useful supplies inside. Annie is Jack's little sister. Annie is just one year younger than Jack. These two siblings have great times together in many different places. Annie is a sweet, honest, considerate girl who looks up to Jack.

Jack and Annie go lots of places, in lots of different times, helping others in their time, in the present and in the past. For example, in another book, in the same series (Magic Tree House Series) I read a book about Jack and Annie with George Washington! That was a long time ago!

Afternoon on the Amazon is an exciting book about Jack and Annie who try to help Morgan le Fay by finding four special things. (Everything they find starts with "M".) In the tree house, every time, they climb up the ladder, look for their trusty friend, Peanut the mouse, and point to a picture in a book while wishing to go there. The tree house starts to spin, spin, and spin faster until they appear in a tree in the place they wish to go. In the rain forest, Jack and Annie have trouble with the following animals: a mother cheetah, a crocodile, a monkey, an army of ants, piranhas and a snake. But in the end, Jack and Annie find out that the animals were just being themselves, with the monkey just trying to be helpful.

My favorite part of the book is when Jack is trying to stop their boat, and he accidentally snatched a snake. It really shakes up the story. Jack and Annie try to push the boat fast and duck their heads. They safely escaped, scared to death!

This is a very exciting book. In every book (from the Magic Tree House series) behind the cover, it says good things about the author and her books. By reading her books you can see if you think these words are right. I personally think this book matches what the people say. I recommend Mary Pope Osborne's books to everyone!

Fly Me to the Moon and Let Me Play Among the Stars
This book is perfection! It is a dreamy and exhilarating combination of beautifully evocative artwork and imaginative, spare, yet poetic text. A little girl rocking on the front porch with her dad one starry summer night wishes on a star and the constellation Pegasus comes to life as a huge white horse with powerful milk-white wings and a flying mane and takes her on an adventure through the constellations. The atmosphere of the darkness, the whispy night clouds, the stars and the stillness completely transports one. The balance between the magical fantasy of the moonhorse and the natural and grounded personality of the child combine in a subtle way to make this fantastic journey happily believable. This book will become a favorite. Don't miss it!

My most favorite of all my child's 100+ children's books
It seems that I often go through my child's books and think, great story but illustrations are mediocre at best - or brilliant artwork for an odd story. Moonhorse is absolutely the most beautifully compatible blend of imaginative work of author and artist. To read this book is to recall a mysterious, yet delightful dream of my 1950's early childhood. I want to know how Pope Osborne and Saelig came together to do this and will they do 1,000 more?

I read this book when I was very young and it has stayed very close to my heart for many years. Even now at 21 I am desperately looking for a copy. This book was the first book to make me cry all those years ago and it made me realize the power of reading. Thank you Mary Pope Osborne for givong me the gift to love books. I search in anticipation for another book to move me so.

brings back memories
I remembering reading this book when i was like ten and even though the years have gone by, it still remains one of my favourites. The story takes a grab of you and almostly instantly you feel for the characters ups and downs, happy moments and heartbreaks and trials that few humans go through on a daily basis. Pick it up and you will never let it go.....

Spider Kane -- The Best Book on Earth
This book was very good. It was very interesting. There was always a question in the beginning or middle of the book, but at the end all the questions are answered. My mom got it for me because I liked the Magic Treehouse books so much. I didn't think I was interested till my mother bought it for me but when I started reading it was great. The whole book is about bugs! Everyone in the book is a bug, except Spider Kane, who you can guess is a spider.

Spider Kane Rules
I thought this was going to be just another book that my mom and I would read for school but this turned out to be the best book I ever read sending me on a quest for any other spider Kane books. Spider Kane and his band of the MOTH are the coolest bugs ever tracking missing gold and going under cover to help other bugs. I loved the mystry! I loved the suspence I just loved this book. Spider Kane can do anything he is awesome. I wish there were more books to read about him. I couldn't put this book down we read it in 5 days then I lent it out to my friends. Then I read Under the May Apple Tree and I need more, my mom says Mary Pope Osborn is a genius because this is my summer vacation and I'm begging to read this series.

Most true to actual Norse Myths.
As an advocate for pure mythology, I am pleased to say that this book is an excellent piece of historical literature. Many stories tend to stray away or add to the original writings of myths, but not this one. It goes without saying that the authors of this book did their homework and researched the actual tales. The art is magnificant, and really adds to the quality of the work. If you have children who are tired of the repeated Greek Classics, then I highly recommend this twist on the myths. I think they will appreaciate the change. Remember, this is not some watered down piece of work, this is as close, in chidren's books, to the true nature of Norse Myth as you will find. An excellent piece of work

The Life of Jesus in Masterpieces of Art (Viking Kestrel Picture Books)
Published in Hardcover by Penguin Books Ltd (05 November, 1998)

How about some art history with your Bible study?
The retelling of the Gospel stories appears to be true to the Biblical account. The uniqueness of this book comes in the visual display of art from the Renaissance period. My 10 year old found the pictures "kind of funny" and "different" which may be why she loves to study them. There is so much to find in the details of these materpieces. I especially like the references in the back that list time periods and artists for each piece. This gives my daughter the information she needs to do further research on specific artists that interests her. Plus giving us a time frame to think about art expression during that era. So, do you need another Bible picture book? I think so IF you are interested in giving your kids a history of art lesson at the same time.

I learned that Benjamin Franklin invented and created things
Benjamin Franklin was a very interesting man. He invented the first public library, the franklin stove, bifocals, discovered that electricity and lightning came from the same force, and founded the first college. He had the biggest funeral in Philadelphia.
