Worth it for the Pictures and Painting Alone
As an active duty Captain I was given this book by my father who is an Army Colonel. A great tabletop/bookshelf book with a history of the army which is enlightening, particulary the many photos and captions. The history is the chapters themselves is somewhat simplistic and "politically correct." Some of the Army's less glorious moments are conviently written out or glossed over or sanatized rather than dealt with in a forthright manner - i.e. the Indian wars, Civil War (southern generals are pictured but not discussed in depth), Bonus Marchers, etc. This doesn't take away from it being an excellent primer on the Army, its history, organization, values, and goals.

The many included paintings from Don Stivers, Rick Reeves, Mort Kunstler really make this edition shine. I think nearly every US Army Stivers print has made it into this edition. If you love military art this is a great value.

Four out of five stars for the sanitized P.C. history of the army. Five for the illustrations, paintings, pictures, and nice binding of this edition. Highly recommended for anyone who wants a well illustrated U.S Army history.

The Army
This book is an excellent source for anyone interested in military service history. My hats off to BG Nelson, General Sullivan, and General Shinseki for a great book. This brings to light events with which the Army is involved. Think about it, the Army brings in names like Powell, Shalikashvili, & Shinseki. All three brought in their own histories that greatly impacted the way the Army does business, and how it creates opportunities not for just a few, but for everybody wishing to commit to military service. I salute the U.S. Army for a great historical record.

Awesome!
Well, other than the fact that I would wake up early every saturday mornings to listen on the internet, it teaches a very important lesson. I'll start at the begining:

1. The main idea is to put your faith in religion, rather than science, but it doens't just teach in one episode, but takes it to the extreme and shows that when all hope seems lost, pray, and trust everything in god.

2. The storyline is terrific! I won't spoil any surprises, but I will tell you this:

-Novacom releases this "Novabox" thats supposed to heal you.
-Someone is trying to steal the Imagination Station!
-Oh no! Murders?
-Some students figure out the secret of the Novabox & go to the utter extreme to try to destroy it.
-Bill Riely's wife is back because of the Novabox?!?!
-Did Bill Riely really blow up the tower!?
-Many EXTREME surprises

Well, if you are a fan of Adventures in Odyssey, and radio dramas, then I suggest that you go out and buy it!

Hang on for the Climax
Novacom is growing stronger. In spite of all Whit and the gang have done, they seem to be gaining support. And it's not exactly like they're doing anything wrong. Or is it? Slowly, the kids begin to uncover some things that just aren't right. But will Whit, Jason, Connie, Tom, and the others figure things out in time?

Every one of these 12 episodes contributes to the Novacom story is some form or other. The writers have done a good job of building this story. But, if you think you know where this story is going, don't bet on it. There are several surprises in the story line here and everything ties together perfectly for the ending. I was glued to my seat waiting to reach that climax, too. They also do a good job here of tying in elements from their many years on the air. I loved some of the references to episodes from their first couple of seasons.

Fans waiting to see how the Novacom storyline resolves itself will be thrilled with the outcome. If you've missed the last couple of collections, you'll want to go back and hear them before you listen to this one so everything makes sense.

Not for Women Only
This Bible has been extremely helpful to me. In addition, my husband and several of my male friends have commented that it has helped them better understand the needs of the women in their lives. It is easy to read and written in a way that makes it easier for me to relate the Scriptures' meanings to my present day circumstances. Very helpful for young Christians as well as older more mature Christian women.

This is an excellent reference bible for busy women!
I'm in love! This bible is written in contemporary language and is chocked full of references and examples. I use it as part of my daily morning devotion, for witnessing and just general at home study. A must for Today's Christian Woman.

This edition of the New Testament is what many people have been looking for. It has an attractive set-up; for instance, in Luke's telling of the choosing of the apostles, it also refers to the same story in Matthew and Mark. Each book has an introduction and short outline and there is a word list for unusual words in the back. The contemporary English is very clear without being childish. Footnotes explain contemporary customs and word usage. There is no bleed-through from page to page in the single column format. The print style is easy to read, sharp and clear. The 4 1/4 by 6 1/2 size is ideal for carrying in purse or backpack. Binding can handle some rough usage.

A Great Tall Tale
This story is a rather original tall tale that revolves around the lives of slaves who live on a plantation. You will never look at another pear tree the same way after your read this story! It will remind you, somewhat, of the tale of Paul Bunyan.

NOLEN SCORES BIG WITH BIG JABE
Big Jabe is the story of how a child found floating down the river becomes a hero and savior of his people during the time of slavery. Jabe is found by Addy as she is out fishing at the river for her master. When Addy shows kindness to him, he rewards her by giving her the biggest catch of fish she has ever had. Not only does Jabe help Addy, but within a season's time, the boy Jabe grows to be a full gtown man who can do the work of twenty. He assists all the slaves in doing their tasks and before long, the master's slaves suddenly begin to disappear. In this tall tale Nolen has weaved examples from Biblical stories and other legendary tall tales like Johnny Appleseed and John Henry. The bright watercolor paintings done by the illustrator enhance the story's beauty and brings all of the characters in Nolen's Big Jabe to life. Once again, Nolen has a winner on her hands!

Black Fire
Mr. Peery's biography is simply "good reading". I was moved by the testimony of a man whose life and experiences directly reflect the trials of american life during this period of our history.

Great marriage of personal, political, historical in story.
This book is exciting because how it shows the connection because one man's personal and political life. Nelson Peery is a great storyteller, and demonstrates honestly how his life experiences led to strong political choices. It's also one of those cases where a person's (auto)biography tells something about America's history.A fascinating, entertaining story that truly educates.

Best BMW bike book available, so far?
Having on my shelf just about every BMW motorcycle book available on Amazon[.com] (and I did not pay the high prices currently showing for some titles, even though I bought them via Amazon[.com] vendors!), I must say, as far as quality of photographs, this is the best!

Text is also very good. Some books on BMWs that are/were available are very slight - at least one of the ones I bought via Amazon is a remainder from England - a "packaged" book; part of a series on various makes of bike, with little text and photos used in several titles.

Having owned a BMW (R100RT) when I lived in London, England, and now a R1100RT, I can attest to their being fine machines -bikes that deserve such a worthy book on them.

I agree with the author's review that many other books on BMWs focus on the early history and concern earlier types and do not contain much on the later models. I think the author is arguably not stating the obvious reason here. This is maybe because they were written before the current "oilhead" twins were produced so understandably could not cover them, or if revised then the books were merely slightly updated after these newer types arrived on the scene so include only a chapter or so on them?

This book being recently published is (obviously)as a result more timely on its coverage.

As a rider of Triumphs some years ago, I'm saving up to buy the similar volume covering that historical make as well - not seen it but I'm sure it will make a fine companion to this title.

A great book at a reasonable price, considering the wealth of color photos, for any motorcycle fan and especially for BMW riders.

Author's review
In researching this book, I read just about everything ever published about BMW motorcycles. Frankly, the early information was difficult to sort through and often contradictory, even though this is the era that has been written about most extensively. The informational value of my book lies in the coverage of BMW motorcycles after 1969. The motorcycles of the modern era have been covered in far less detail, as if other authors were not interested in the motorcycles built after that date.

But the real value of this book is the stunning photography provided by Brian J. Nelson, one of the finest photographers working in the field of motor journalism. It's unfortunate that there is no photography from the book posted on this website, because Brian has transformed this work from just another motorcycle history book into a true work of art.

On a more sophomoric level, I found writing this book rewarding because I was able to use a conjugation of the verb "fornicate," and also because I was able to alude to the interbreeding practices of European royalty prior to World War I. Incorporating these things into a BMW motorcycle history tested my creative skills.

Excellent resource for managers
I have read and used Bob Nelson's "1001 Ways to Energize Employees" and "1001 Ways to Reward Employees" in developing my business. As the president/co-founder of an executive recruiting firm, I have used his practical advice and tips to motivate our salespeople. I would recommend this book to any manager interested in nurturing top talent and performance within their organization. Bob's methods are simple, easy to implement and they work. I have also given copies of "1001 Ways..." to clients who have also found his advice extremely useful.

This library can change behavior
As an HR manager, I've been attending Bob Nelson seminars and buying his books for years. These books are full of highly practical, actionable advice that, if followed, can literally change the behavior of talented but sullen employees who often simply don't get the validation they need from their managers. Research shows that employees don't leave their jobs, they leave their managers--and in this climate we can't afford for that to happen. I will also recommend Beverly Kaye's excellent book "Love 'Em or Lose 'Em" as another great tool for retaining your best and nurturing your brightest.

The Boy Who Picked the Bullets Up
READ THIS BOOK! Get your hands on it and I promise, you won't put it down until you are done... and even then you'll goback and re-read it!

Perhaps one of the most moving texts I've everread, the correspondence style was truly evocative of the relationship that the Kurt the protragnist has with his family, friends and comrades in arms. Nelson has created a life that is fully three dimmensional and naturally handles the issues of fear, hope, death, stigma management (of gay identity) and ok... I'm being far too cerebral about a book that moves one so deeply...

Truly this book should be: 1. reprinted... 2. read by everyone... 3. Might make an interesting movie or stage production... END

Best contemporary novel about gay men in combat
Labelled "fiction," this book has a hair-raising feel of the author having been there...in that war we remember as Vietnam. "Gripping" is an understatement, as the narrator (a young Marine medic) whipsaws schizophrenically between loving men's bodies while on R & R and working frantically to heal men's mutilated bodies while on duty. Among the war memoirs with gay themes that I've read, I rank it #2 after T.E. Lawrence's "Seven Pillars of Wisdom." The book also leaves one with a realization that all the current hoohah about "gays in the military" is peacetime mickey-mouse. In wartime, it seems that the brass don't care who sleeps with whom, as long as the troops get the job done. This searingly honest and uncomfortably original novel deserves to be back in print and made into a film.

Cal 99 Call of the Goddess Calendar

Call of the Goddess
The paintings in this calendar are inspirational as well as beautiful. The ethereal, mystical imagery is complemented by verse written by Nelson - Reed. The color and subjects are wonderful, I think suitable for framing. As a man, I seldom purchase feminine, or goddess related artwork or products - this calendar is a notable exception. Anyone buying this product will be pleased, and enjoy these images for years - like myth and legend, these paintings and the spirit that inspired them are timeless.

A Look at the Goddess Calling You
If you have been hearing the Goddess call you, Helen Nelson-Reed's Call of the Goddess 2001 calendar is an inspiring next step for your journey. Her fluid style of many light, translucent layers is captivating and fulfilling for those who enjoy symbolic art with many meanings to contemplate. This calendar is full of beautiful images which you will want to save and display for many years. It will help you keep track of time as you investigate your spirit.
