Not enough words
If you have a good professor to guide your through, this book may be ok. If you're on your own - forget about it.

Superb
I have read a large number of books on this field. This is by far the most comprehensive book on the subject. It is suitable for self study, and gives a true jist for optimal control

A genuinely readable introdution for the applied scientist
This is an excellent introduction to the calculus of variations and Pontryagin's Maximum Principle. It is written exceptionally clearly and gives the reader access to the calculus without becoming bogged down in lengthy diffcult proofs (which are left to the end).

I recommend this book to any student or scientist who is not a pure mathematician but wishes to understand and apply analytic tools of optimization.

Fiction not fact
I was mislead by the synopsis which implied that this was an academic study of the Lilith myth. It is first and foremost, fictional and artistic interpretations of Lilith. This book is for anyone interested in the retellings of this myth, but it is not for those interested in the academic approach to Lilith, although one may pick up a few interesting bits of informatio along the way.

An enjoyable and broadly-ranging anthology
This anthology is a true Midrash, a collection of poems, stories, pensees, and more scholarly reflections on Lilith. The authors engage with Lilith as she has been portrayed historically, and through their imaginative re-visioning of who she is and what she means. The writing is consistently quite good, and the authors' voices compelling. I particularly enjoyed the work of Leslea Newman and Shoshana T. Daniel. Though somewhat pricey, this is a nice-looking volume with *a lot* of pieces.

Wonderland, Fairyland and Blyton
It's a pity that Enid Blyton never quite got on in the States; I believe the Famous Five series is the only popular one. But Blyton has much more interesting tales. I grew up with her books, I learned to read with her stories. To my mind, a fairy that lives down in the garden who slips through the door of an oak tree to visit the Enchanter on the other side of the hill and returns by way of the steam engine of little Billy's playroom is but part of Blyton's charm to magicked the reader into believing in a child's fairyland. These are simple tales of magic or even magic realism, for it is nothing strange that your dog talks or the cat meows or why buttercups are yellow. Blyton has a steady hand when penning a tale or three and the world is truly lucky that her books are all over the world.

Recipe for Fun
Jane Amanda Edwards is a meddling, irritating, yet somehow very endearing spinster. Through her friend, Detective Captain George Hammond, she hits on the idea of publishing a town cookbook. She is determined to bully, coerce or flat out steal the recipes she wants. Through her total lack of social skills, she becomes involved in a murder-which to her is merely an inconvenience to her cookbook. This domestic cozy is humorous and engaging. Also contains recipes!

Enid Blyton's Noddy at the seaside

Wonderful stories if read with sensitivity.
I also shared most of the Noddy stories with my brother when I was young. My daughter is almost 4 and just loves Noddy and The Noddy Shop. I was hoping to complete the set now, but it seems used copies are hard to come by. I hope the stories will be reissued, in the original hardcover size for the next generation to love. Some sections do require some sensitivity by an older reader since some stereotying or apparent racism requires context. Wonderful, wonderful stories!

A great mystery for the Famous Five
"Five on Finniston Farm" was the first Enid Blyton book I ever read. Needless to say it got me hooked. All the Famous Five books are full of adventure and mystery. I really recommend any of them for younger readers.

In this one, the five are sent to Finniston Farm for a holiday. Soon they discover the Finniston's are in danger of losing the farm and they must find a way to help them before it is too late.

Any young reader who enjoys adventure stories or mysteries should read this book.

Fun for the Secret Seven

TOUCHING ADVENTURE ! ! !
This is story of adventure and quite touching. The story is about seven children whose are good friends and they like helping people very much. Once upon a time, the Secret Seven rescued an old man, his horse and his dog. They found shelter for the old man and paid the vet. Although there were many difficulties, they tried their best to overcome them.
I chose this book as it has an attractive cover and interesting title. After reading it, I think it is quite interesting and exciting. I like the first chapter the most, it was written as an introduction for the Secret Seven. It is clearly presented it introduce the main characters naturally. The seven children were sympathetic and had warm hearts. They were willing to try hard for helping the others though they did something silly. It is so touching that makes me admire them. I enjoy this book very much as the personalities of the seven children. For example, I like the leader of the Secret Seven, Peter, very much. He is a clever boy and has good planning in doing his works. Conversely, Peter¡¦s sister, Janet, is a stupid girl. She always does some foolish things and get into trouble. Fortunately, her brother helped her to overcome many difficulties. In addition, the pictures in the book are really beautiful in order to make the whole story more attractive.
Finally, I really recommend this book to the form 4 to 6 students as I think they would be interested in this book because of the content of the story and the Secret Seven.

A great introduction to palmistry
I have had an older edition of this book since 1985. I received it as a present when I was 15 and have had fun with it ever since. It is easy to read and understand. The way the book is set up lends itself to being an easy reference guide with good diagrams and descriptions. I don't necessarily advocate a whole-hearted belief in palmistry, but its great entertainment!! I have "read" hundreds of plams for friends and family members and have had a great time with it. This book is an easy way to get started and have a little fun.

Great introduction for young kids on being of two religions
This book is very good for young children of an interfaith family. It explains it in the way of the mother being Jewish and the father being Catholic. It shows the excitement that each parent had growing up and facts on each religion. It gives good explanations of Christmas and Hannukah - but beware, if you are not that religious and are looking for something very generic like about opening presents, it is not like that. It goes into short explanations of the Maccabees and of Mary and Joseph. Overall - a good start to explaining to kids and having respect and knowledge of both religions.
