Origami Sculptures

Best book by Montroll
If you like John's origami books, this one is a must! I would rate it as my favorite of all of his, and that's saying a lot. In addition to the models mentioned by others, this book has the two bases in it, which I found particularly fun to play with on my own. I used the dog base to fold my own versions of about a dozen different dog breeds. I'm sure any experienced folder could come up with others!

Excellent detail
This, in my opinion, is Montroll's best book out there. The small details of the models are superb, especially the panda bear and the camel. Most of the animals stand up by themselves and make great displays.

The FINEST book of Montroll!!
In this book Montroll not only makes some of the best animal models so far but also creates systems of folding 4-leg animals and 6-leg insects. The folding steps in each model are very natural, with great logic and wits. Montroll is so scintillating in these designs that he creates 2 outstanding origami bases, Montroll's Dog base and Montroll's Insect base. In application of these 2 bases many vivid animals (REALLY VIVID!) are folded and exhibited. Other animals are well-designed too, including a cock, a penguin from the front side, etc. In my opinion, this is the finest among Montroll's origami books.

Cliff's Notes to the JFK assassination theories
some drawings may seem cartoonish, but the actual literature of this book is good.
it covers over 20 of the major assassinations theories, not in great detail, but just an overview, like Cliff's Noes.
good book that covers the Warren Commission, Ford, the FBi and CIA, Cuba, Oswald and his life, just an overall good book.
if you want all the details and names, then get the actual JFK book like Crossfire by Jim Marrs.
if you a summary of the theories like Cliff's Notes, then get this book.

The best superficial overview to orient you to the genre
Of the dozens of works I have read on the assassination, this one is better at orienting the reader to the thousands of books, many, many of them useless. If you read only one, this will be it. You won't read only one, after you finish this book.

Wow, a one stop who shot JFK shop!!
I sat down and read this book about two years ago and I couldn't have enjoyed a book more. They have articulated all the great theories into words and idea's that the average reader can grasp without having to know too much backround info on all parties involved. I am now getting ready to take a survey history course on the subject so I am looking to get my hands on this book again!! If you can find a copy of this book, don't let it go!!

very enjoyable little book
Small enough to fit in your pocket, but full of glossy full color pages of useful information, maps, and pictures, this guidebook is quite nice. Not as thick as the other PV guidebooks, but just as useful (or more so), and easier to carry around. Highly recommended. I liked it better than the other "big name" PV guidebooks.

Best guide for Puerto Vallarta
OK, the restaurant list is a little out of date, but then I've never found a guide that wasn't out of date the moment it was published. What really makes this book special is that the author has clearly taken the time to look around. The walking tours ("If you have one day...") are simple to follow and lots of fun. The photos are often stunning, and here and there are amusing bits of information. Best of all, this slim guide will fit easily in your pocket (I hate dragging around a big book filled with mostly useless information). Discover Puerto Vallarta cuts right to the chase. No wasted space. Highly recommended.

Very good, targeted recommendations
My group of friends, who had all travelled Greece in our backpacking days, benefited greatly from this book. As our trip in July 2002 progressed, we relied more and more heavily on the book. The recommendations from sites to food to hotels proved to be excellent every time. I particularly liked that the lodging and restaurant recommendations had inexpensive through expensive listings, which we used as our budget-mindedness changed during the trip. For anyone beyond backpacking and Lonely Planet, this book is a must.

most useful.
I found this book very useful. I used it mostly as a guide on a walking tour of Athens. I only had three days in Athens and wanted to see as much as possible. I spent a few hours browsing through the pertinent section and made my plan of action. Everything was as described. I also referred to it when making my hotel reservation and when looking for good restaurants. I stayed at the Hotel Philippos near the Acropolis - a great little place. Eating I went through great troubles one night to find the Taverna Sigalas in the Monasteraki area (because of subway construction,) but it was well worth the effort. I still drool at the thought of the wonderful Greek salad I had and the very best moussaka I've ever eaten. Going to Rome this year and I plan to buy a Frommer's for Rome because I only have three days there and I know I can depend on this book.

Changed My Life
This audio book changed my life. I have always wanted to read and study Scripture, but, like a lot of people, I could never find the time. Listening to the Gospels on CD was the answer. The sound quality is great. Michael Smith does a terrific job with the narration and the background music adds to the overall message instead of detracting from it. I would highly recommend The Gospels Come to Life to anyone interested in learning more about Jesus Christ and his teachings.

Country Cooking at its best!
Reading this cookbook is like taking a journey to my past in the mountains of Kentucky. My parents and grandparents (and on back for generations) all lived in the southeastern part of KY (in the Appalachian mountains). My favorite memories are of my grandmother's wonderful country cooking. She's 96 now and I live in New Mexico, so I can't get recipes from her easily (no, she's not on the web!). Now that my hobby is cooking, I want to cook like she did!

When I picked up this cookbook, I knew I had found the recipes! All the wonderful old favorites I remember are in here, and yes, he gives exact measurements. Trying to get my grandmother to write down her recipes was impossible - it was always 'a dash of this and a splash of that'!

For each recipe in this book, he gives a 'difficulty' rating (Easy, Moderate, Difficult), and explains why he gives such a rating (which helps when you're pressed for time). He also gives 'Healthy Choice Alternative' suggestions (although I can't imagine southern cooking without the butter, lard, sugar, etc.). Along with the recipes are stories of the mountain people and discussions on ingredients, etc.

Let's just say this ... if you want a cookbook that gives you tried and true southern/mountain recipes, buy this one!

With this book, history, topography, culture, and recipes come together. At last there is one book that covers the Appalachian region from western Maryland to northeastern Georgia. This is a regional cookbook of tested recipes from a trained chef. It is not a book of family recipes.

In 1997 this book, published as Mouintain Country Cooking, was nominated by the James Beard Foundation for book of the year in the category of Foods of the Americas.

I am the author of the book and would like to hear from you.

Mark Gruhin Chapter Fantastic!
This is an excellent book with an extremely insightful and fascinating chapter written by Mark I. Gruhin. He is a very skilled writer and lawyer, and I look forward to his future writings.

Great Book-Very Interesting....
Being a lawyer in NYC, I was very impressed with some Inside the Minds: Interne Lawyers. Although it is impossible to cover every Internet related topic, the book does a good job at covering some very interesting topics. In addition, the individuals portrayed in the book represent a good cross sampling of different talents related to Internet law. I particularly enjoyed the interview with Mark Fischer at Palmer & Dodge. If you are a woman, make sure to also check out Inside the Minds: Leading Women.

Great art & Great story!
Comics are gaining recognition and respect, but for people new to reading them it takes a nudge to pick a book outside of the big name publishers. This is your nudge. "Jax Epoch and the Quicken Forbidden" is a fantastic story, at once both clever and absorbing. It's not pigeon-holed into "a book for girls" or "a book for boys" but is appealing to everyone. Though this is a complete story, the adventures of Jax don't end with the book; the comics are still coming out and they just get better and better!

finally, strong female characters in comics!
wonderful, entertaining and unpredictable. dave and john will keep you guessing and, ultimately, wanting more.

this comic will appeal to anyone who likes adventure, robots, ice cream...or all three! jax is a great character who you will be rooting for as she travels between realms, experiments with magic, goes on trial for destroying the world, and eats cereal with extra sugar.

fans of the comic "quicken forbidden" will also appreciate bonus material featured only in this paperback edition, including a new short story about jax's childhood.

Excellent and informative!
I read this edition after reading the 2nd edition, and I couldn't be happier with it. This edition includes information about the diet's use in infants, as well as tube feeding issues. I was very glad to see the added info, as my 4 month old son began the diet recently and we're still fine-tuning it. Thanks to this book, not only do I understand more about the diet's "quirks", I feel I'm more able to assist the dietitians and neurologists in the planning of my son's diet. I highly recommend it to anyone who's considering implementing the diet.

Even Better Than Before!
I just got my copy of the third edition of this wonderfulbook. It's even better than the second edition.

1. The menu plansare better and more complete. 2. They include information on howthey think the diet works. 3. The whole book just flows better thanbefore.

I highly recommend this book (and the diet) to all withepilepsy -- adults too!

Cool!
When I read "Prepare for a Rocket Ride!" on the back cover of the book, I was both hopefull and cautious at the same time. You just never know what your going to get when you check out a new Author. After I sat the book down two days later, I felt as though I had just been a part of an action/adventure movie! I highly recomend this author and this book to those who love modern day fiction that has something to say.

Kirov's Marauders
A suspencefull and fast paced read. John Mark Simpson nailed this one. I am placing him among some of my favorite authers such as John Grisham, Stevan King and Andrea Kane. Watch out for the switchbacks, Excelent job John Simpson, BRAVO. Looking forward to your next book. I hope you continue your Space Piracy series.
