Pick n' Choose
This book is a good source of various combinations. It is loaded with assembly details and tips on sources for high performance components that work. I'm going to build a proven combination the next time I build an engine. This book is a very enjoyable read and the results should prove very interesting. The selection runs the gamut in terms of size; 383, 406, 408, 427, 454, all small blocks!

Delightful Book of Japanese Fairy Tales
Introduce your children to the wonderful tales Japanese children know and love! A bit abridged, if you know the tales already, but these are a fine collection.

Little One-Inch is Japan's Tom Thumb, and he is shown wending his way down a stream in a boat made of a rice bowl, using a chopstick for propulsion.

There are ten stories in all, sweetly illustrated in Japanese style. Kids 3 to 10 will enjoy these; my favorite is The Rabbit Who Crossed the Sea ...on the backs of sharks he somewhat maliciously tricks into helping him. The listener learns Rabbit's hard-won lesson about fooling people, and they are given a delightfully amazing picture of Rabbit using the sharks as an inter-island bridge.

One warning: there is a color picture of Little One-Inch poking a needle into the eye of a demon, but I've seen more frightening pictures in Disney publications. In general, the book has nothing scarier than what western fairy tales offer.

A great book!
The book covers the information needed to create a garden out of a small lot. The plans are detailed a realistic enough that a beginning gardener can work with them. I especially like the herb garden in the book. The pictures are beautiful.

nice NIN book
This is not a tell all book and most hard-core nine inch nails fans probably won't learn anything new about Trent but that's not the point of this book. Almost all of the book's information seems to have come from previous published magazine articles about Trent. Some parts reading it seems like deju vu. It tells the Trent/NIN story up to the Natural Born Killers Soundtrack. It includes a discography of the CDs NIN has released and the soundtracks NIN music is on before the Perfect Drug. The book contains many full page sized glossy pictures of Trent. See Trent caked in mud at Woodstock, Trent with a nose ring, Trent performing on stage, etc.

If you're a new NIN fan, it's a good way to learn about Trent and NIN. If you're an older fan, it's a good way to refresh on some things.

Save your money
Waste of money. Book has many errors, poor editing! Author has a negative attitude and it shows!

Ultra Black Hair Growth II
Very informative! I liked this book because it was concise and had a common sense approach. I gained some crucial information from this book and have seen great results from following the program. If only more "professionals" followed her advice! I would definitely recommend it to others.

Black hair care that really works!
This book is the only book I have read that really addresses and identify real life solutions for the care of curly/kinky hair for Black people. It is concise and easy to read with a step by step guide to healthier and longer hair. The best part of it is that it really works. If you follow the guidelines set out in the book you will see definite results. I started using the conditioner recommended in the book and saw results within 3 weeks. The research and knowledge contained in this book is a must for anyone caring for Black hair. I am a believer and wouldn't be without it. This book is a gem!

Petulant tale of sex tourism and racial vengeance
Even the self-hatred in this narrative is self-indulgent. The narrator (/author?) loathes white gay men who find him attractive and enters into the very hackneyed attempt to have a meaningful, loving relationship with a prostitute. The narrator/author recognizes that to some extent he is a privileged American, but does not notice that in Malaysia (and, to a lesser extent, in Thailand) he is part of a quasi-colonial privileged Chinese elite.

Mesmerizing Flights of Prose
One thing that Chua does exceedingly well is stylizing. Nevermind the story (if it were a bit more connected, I'd give him 5 stars). He is brassy, he is vulnerable. He is vulgar, he is tender. This is the sort of book that requires much of its readers. Those who take it at face value will hate it (as some of the reviewers above have). The narrator may not be likeable, but then again there is a reason why the author made him that way. Those who prefer to be spoonfed should turn to Stephen King or Higgins or Danielle Steel.

I like this book because it has guts. It'll make you wince and gag and chew your lips to shred. Chua has the power of a very keen poet. Highly recommended to writers or those with a deep appreciation for prose.

One of the two best of 1999!
An extraordinary and compelling novel, especially in its bold and simple language, its force; GOLD BY THE INCH is one of the two best books I've read this year, along with Colm Toibin's THE STORY OF THE NIGHT!

Fluid Mechanics/Book and IBM 5.25 Inch Disk

AVOID THIS BOOK IF AT ALL POSSIBLE!!!!
Please do yourself a favor and avoid this book. This is the fourth edition and perhaps the worst introduction to fluid mechanics book ever printed. I am a PhD student and have had many courses in fluids. This book is riddled with errors and mistakes. The theory is correct but the derivations of certain equations and the solutions to many, many, many problems are wrong! I cannot believe these errors have survived to the 4th edition. Another reason to avoid this book is because the solutions provided with instructors make great leaps in solving problems. Many of the solutions state "this problem requires a laborious derivation and is much too hard to solve" or something to that effect! I also assist in teaching many intro fluids classes and this makes life miserable. Please use the 5th edition (or any other fluids book for that matter.)

Not a good book for first course in fluid mechanics
I was a part time instructor over the summer at a certain university in Midwest and found this book extremely difficult to teach from. Though the equations are correct and elegant but author makes huge leaps from the mathematical vector equations in theory to simplified equations in an inconsistent manner. This makes instructors' life hard as he has to fill in missing steps for many solved problems in the book. After reviewing all the undergrad textbooks on fluid mechanics, I would recommend people to use Introduction to Fluid Mechanics by Fox and McDonald. This book can be easily read and followed by the student while leaving instructor(like myself) for more time to elaborate on theory in detail.

EXCELLENT! HIGHLY RECOMMEND FOR BEGINNERS!
I was taught using this text book, and now, as an experience fluid process engineer, I highly recommend it for those who are starting into the field for Mechanical or Fluid Process Engineering and have a stong desire to learn about thermal processing and fluid systems! Great book! I refer to it daily in my work!

Good first try for a BTB Christmas book.
Bob, Wendy, and the entire crew are present for this Christmas adventure. The story is complete with snow, Christmas tree, gifts, and good will. They even use the increasingly politically incorrect term "Christmas" (I'm all for Christmas, Jesus is the reason for the season). A quick and fun read with a minimal amount of words, high quality photographs, and made of attractive and sturdy materials. Recommended for your three to five year old Bob fan (OK, or 30 year old Bob fan)!

Cute Book
My daughter loves "Bob the Builder". She likes to have this book read to her at Christmas time. It has a cute story to it.

barely worth the paper it's printed on
What sells this tiny thing is the name 'Bruce Lee'. If it were a technique taught by Wang Do Somebody, who maybe being more knowledgeable in Martial Arts, but less known, it would not have even be printed.

This pamphlet is not necessarily the most honest one either. It leaves out important information on the concepts of this technique, which results in only remedial knowledge of the punch itself. It's bad enough to get second hand information, let alone from a 'sale by name' book (making this third hand info.)

It would have been better to stick this in the middle of a book and classified as theory.

Not much here.
This isn't really a book, but a pamphlet. James W. Demille, "one of Bruce Lee's original students," is writing about a technique which Bruce taught him called the Floating Punch. The entire pamphlet has a VERY short section on mental preparation for said technique, a slightly longer section on physical preparation, and finally, how to do the Floating Punch from a 1 inch stance and a 3 inch stance, as well as some brief advice on executing it at longer distances. I must say, I was a little surprised at how tiny this "book" is. Also, there isn't too much material- there are a lot of pictures, which I suppose are necessary, but the thing seems a lot shorter than 40 pages. I suppose that the pamphlet is exactly what it says, and nothing more- a cursory tutorial on execution of a technique which is apparently quite devastating if done properly. However, I disagree with the suggestion that this technique is a great idea for anybody to learn as a quick means of self-defense. If what Mr. Demille says about this technique's potency is true, then somebody with no martial arts experience is likely to hurt themselves pretty bad, as it seems to require a great deal of mental and physical discipline, a point which I don't feel is stressed enough. I won't say that this book is without value, but its limited subject matter and the level of ability required makes it a book that isn't for everyone.

This is a very good book for the all people.
This book is an alright souce of information for experienced and non-experienced martial artists. The punch takes a while to learn, but the effort is worth it. The only problem is fragmented sentences which are hard to understand. There is a section that says on page 7 that states, 'Although I agreed with him at the time, I now feel that the techniques should be taught to all those who wish to develop their striking power without having to dedicate themselves to the martial arts.' Argreed with who? About what? Why?, This book could have been edited better and more specific and proper English could and should have been used. There should be no doubt on what any statement means. Also, the pictures are very hard to see, and they are undescriptive. Actual foot positions should be shown such as dance steps. Overall this book was good if you are skilled at working through poor english, undescriptive photos, and fragmented and unspecific ideas. I'm sorry this is slightly harsh, but I'm an English Professor for the University Of New Mexico.

Thanks,

Nathan Trice
