A thoughtful, scholarly, and in-depth analysis
Not A Tame God: Christ In The Writings Of C.S. Lewis by Steven P. Mueller (Associate Professor of Theology, Concordia University, Irvine, California) is an informed and informative study of the literature of popular twentieth-century writer and devout Christian C. S. Lewis, who has presented the image of an "untamable" God in his writings which remain faithful to the essence of Jesus Christ. Central in the analysis is Lewis' Christ-like figure of Aslan, the wild and compassionate lion protector of the land of Narnia. A thoughtful, scholarly, and in-depth analysis, Not A Tame God is highly recommended contribution to Christian Theology Studies in general, and the reading lists for students of C.S. Lewis' writings in particular.

A great master teaches electrodynamics
Pauli, who was rated by Born to be as good as Einstein, taught theoretical physics for many years at Technische Hochschule at Zurich. This book is labored on notes taken by students from his lectures on Electrodynamics. This is the book I consult when I am not happy with the explanations in the usual books. If it happens that Pauli touches the subject, I always get what I looked for: conceptual clarity and very good algorithms. Yes, because Pauli, one of the most profound physicists ever, believed that a physicist must calculate. He even "practiced" in his spare time! I especially like, in this book, the derivation of the laws for RLC circuits, rigorously in the field theory way, and absolutely clear and elegant. This is not an introduction to electricity. It is a rather sophisticated introduction to that part of theoretical physics called electrodynamics. In this role, it is certainly among the very best.

Pauli has a good time with optics
This is a very short book on optics. It has only some 170 pages!
Still, it's a great fun! Pauli starts witn the Fermat principle and soon finds out the Hamilon-Jacobi equation connected to this variational principle: it's the eikonal equation. He proceeds to get a lot of general results in geometrical optics. After that come interference and diffraction; optics from Maxwell theory, crystal and molecular optics. You'll find fresh perspectives, surprising connections, everywhere. This is the ideal book to review your optical expertise: you'll have lots of fun seeing things you are familiar with, much better done!

A HIGHLY RECOMMENDED addition to your CS Lewis library!
Although there are a lot of books about CS Lewis out there, I found this one to be much better than I had anticipated. Rather than being a series of merely academic essays about his work, the authors of these essays do what good critics should do--help one understand the original text on a deeper level. Reading these essays not only helped increase my understanding of Lewis' theology but also deepened my enjoyment of his fictional works. The essay by Root entitled "Tools Inadequate and Incomplete: C.S. Lewis and the Great Religions" was particularly enlightening in articulating how Lewis' perspective on Christianity acknowledges commonalities with the great world religions yet still preserves the unique contribution of Christianity as well. In all, the essays do a great job of synthesizing broad themes (including hell, scientism, language, gnosticism, and grace) across many of C.S. Lewis works, fictional and nonfiction, and have personally helped me in my own journey of faith.

Powerful argument against scientism (not science)
In this beautiful and powerful little book Michael D. Aeschliman calls on a host of witnesses from throughout history and from various disciplines, including philosophers, poets, and scientists in order to build his case against scientism. Not to be confused with science, scientism is a philosophical belief system which claims that the material world is the only objective reality there is and that human beings are essentially nothing more than "machines made of meat." It claims that all values are ultimately subjective and denies that human beings are essentially rational. As the title denotes, the most prevalent of the witnesses Aeschliman calls on to support his case is C.S. Lewis, whom he sees as the foremost defender of the common sense tradition that has informed our view of ourselves as human for most of the history of western civilization. The book is beautifully written and easy to read, much like the writings of Lewis himself, and is full of wonderful, powerful quotes that you'll find yourself wanting to memorize. If you are interested in the writings and thought of C.S. Lewis you owe it to yourself to check out this book. I know of no better book written about Lewis and his thought. This book affected my intellectual life profoundly. This is not only a resource to be utilized for the information it contains, but a treasure to be cherished and returned to again and again.

I Love This Book!!
I think everyone should have to read this book (and also C.S. Lewis's)! The author helps us to understand how Satan operates. I guarantee that everyone will say "Aha!" and see a little (or alot) of themselves in it. Instead of writing a boring nonfiction book about sin, the author presents Christian beliefs and principles in such a way that you can easily grasp the point.

Severe Mercy
This book tells the story of the idyllic marriage of Sheldon and Jean Vanauken, their quest for truth and beauty, their friendship with C.S. Lewis, and the tragedy of untimely death and love lost. It includes 18 letters from Lewis.
An adventure story of intellect, faith and ideology, and love, these lovers' story enters into the depths of human longings without ignoring realities that aren't easily faced or questions that aren't easily answered.
The author is a skilled craftsman with a highly intelligent, civilized, and imaginative handle on language. His words and his story are stirring and will evoke much deep thought and emotion.
