A nice, easy-to-use lab manual
This lab manual addresses a variety of geology topics presented in a simple, easy to undertand style. Each chapter has the main concepts italicized with definitons following. It also has a glossary at the end for explaining some of the common geologic terms. Exercises are put to assist students better understand major geologic concepts. The book contains tables, diagrams, and colored pictures presented in an interesting pattern and serve as tools for visual aids. It is difinetly the lab manual you need as a non-geology major student. It also helps refreshing your baby geology information if you are a geology student. However, to get the most out of this book, you need to have some lab materials, such as, rocks, maps, etc..., available particulary for the rocks and minerals part.

Informative and interesting asset protection guide.
I have read many books on Asset Protection and this is the only one that I felt explained the process clearly. It is obvious that Mr. Mintz and Mr. Rubens have a very clear and thorough understanding of this subject area

The Leadership Gym
Though considerably biased as one of the authors, I have asked countless students (leadership course at the graduate level), professors and industry leaders to review this book and provide feedback. The vast majority have indicated a strong consensus that it is an excellent basic guide to entry level and mid-level managers who are in search of tools and techniques to enhance their skills in leading people.

These same tools and techniques that are defined in the book, plus many others, are part of the curriculum in the Project Management Master of Science Program at the University of Texas at Dallas. The evaluations have been particularly good and for that, I thank my co-authors, Tom Berliner and Rob Van Til...two of the brightest minds and down-to-earth approaches to leading people that I've ever encountered.

Thanks for your time...

Great book, all AD&D players should read it.
This book is a very rare, but worthwhile title. I, myself, have not even been able to complete it because the only copies I've seen it in now are so small that I can hardly make out the words! They're about two-by-two inches! It hurts my eyes and I just decided to stop where I was. From what I've read, it is a great book that brought old heroes and gods vividly back to life in my imagination. If anyone has an older copy, LARGER copy, please email me at Zell_D@iname.com.

Lies (People Believe) About Animals
There are 11 major reviews of animals, and over 20 minor reviews. In each of these reviews I found at least one thing that I believed about the animal that was not true. Usually these are major believes which are wrong.

I found the writing style very easy to read and understand. The photographs were very good and very unusual. And the layout of the book was very pleasing to look at and invited the reader inside.

This is a terrific book for kids. I have had it out on my coffee table and children always pick it up and read it.

Thanks for a job well done.

Reveals a lot of Obscure gems from unsung heroes
For Black History fans, this is a great book in that it reveals a lot of unknown great speeches from forgotten heroes and heroines in the African-American struggle. Here, you'll meeet the likes of William Crogman, Henry McNeil Turner, Joseph C. Price, and Maria W. Stewart who boldly spoke up for African-Americans during the days of slavery and its aftermath. Also, this book contains some lesser-known speeches from the better-known Black heroes of the day like Sojourner Truth, Frederick Douglass, Booker T. Washington, and Richard Allen (the latter's eulogy on George Washington will surprise the PC crowd). But in either case, Black History fans will have a field day with this book and I would strongly recommend this for teachers to use with their students.

great selection of short works about London
This is the first Granta book I've read but I'm definitely interested in more after this one. A collection of essays, stories, memoirs and photographs all based around the theme of London, it contains works by such well-known authors as Anthony Bailey, Ian Buruma, Amit Chaudri, Hanif Kureishi, John Lanchester, Dale Peck, Will Self and Graham Swift plus articles by two writers for the Observer. Sandwiched in between all of these works are ten 'London Views', where various authors ruminate on their favorite or most memorable views in and about the city.

Many of the essays are accounts of the author's memories of their time spent in London, as in the childhood memories of Ferdinand Dennis and Ruth Gershon or the more recent recollections by Ian Hamilton and Lucretia Stewart. My favorite part, however, was the short fiction, especially Philip Hensher's mysterious tale of real estate in the late '80s and Lanchester's quirky story about an accountant's experience of a bank robbery. I also enjoyed Helen Simpson's 'With a Bang,' an account of life in Kew in the age of Nostradamus, an appropriate addition to a volume published in 1999.

The stories taken collectively give a really in-depth view of London at the turn of the century. Yet even if you're not interested in London per se, the writing here is good enough to warrant buying this anyway.

A brief history of the beginning of the English Bible.
I am a student of Dr. McGoldrick and reading this book was a requirement of his class. It was a rather enlightening book which gave a brief overall picture of the history of the Bible. It starts with pre-Tyndale times and factors in Robert Barnes and Martin Luther and then follows through with Myles Coverdale acquiring permission from King Henry VIII to publish a version of Tyndale's Bible. It is a matter-of-fact book which helps to view the struggles of those early translators of the Bible.

The Making of the Habsburg Monarchy, 1550-1700: An Interpretation

Required reading for "early modern" history
Curiously, many historians have tried to esplain the decline and expiration of the Habsburgs, but the family's rise to power seems not to have been similarly examined. Evans bases his work solidly on primary sources in the period of the Central European Counter-Reformation. He also presents a balanced view of 16th century monarchy, since the consolidation of the Habsburg state was essentially the result of a skillful series of bilateral agreements between greater and lesser rulers. This highly regarded work received several major awards and has established itself as mandatory reading for any serious student of early modern history.
