None better
Absolutely the finest verb handbook available. What it lacks in polish (it's not an attractive layout), it gains in its thorough treatment of Spanish verbs. They're all there! Bypass the "501" books and use this instead.

Extremely Helpful
I found this book extremely helpful once I went over it with a friend that is Hispanic. I needed help with the different tenses but once we went over it, it was of great help.

It is a shame that most beginning classes only teach the present tense of a verb. I would recommend this for anyone that wants a better understanding of Spanish Verb Cong.

I am a beginner that is teaching myself. This book may be easier for students with more of a background.

A truly excellent handbook of verbs
This is the best in the field. A must if you are really interested in a comprehensive approach and intelligent listing. It is a remarkable tool which will allow you to progress in your Spanish studies. It deserves greater attention than some overrated and much more basic competitors, because here for a few more dollars you also have the basic verbs, just as easily explained and presented, as well as the less basic but very useful material.

DS9 - Millennium - An exceptional Deep Space Nine trilogy!
Given that I continue to read all of the Star Trek series in order of their particular chronological release dates, I've looked at this particular trilogy for quite some time with no small measure of anxiousness to get to them. Now that I've made it to them, they were quite well worth the wait and shall be savored for quite some time. In this great Omnibus this writing team writes with a great sense of fluidity and an overall well balanced style. Unlike some previous Deep Space Nine authors, they show a great sense of knowledge of the series and Star Trek as a whole. They captured each characters personality and style flawlessly! Had this particular trilogy been set in either Star Trek The Next Generation or Star Trek Voyager series it most certainly would've garnered three hardbacks, but fortunately for us, Pocket Books up to this point still wasn't willing to foot the bill for a Deep Space Nine hardback even for this trilogy which so richly deserved it! Fortunately this outstanding Omnibus is now available and quite well worth it!

Set somewhere in the frenetic sixth season of Deep Space Nine, Millennium is a project of epic proportions for Star Trek fiction that simply leaves one breathless as they're completely enthralled in this page turner that compels the reader at a blistering pace from chapter to chapter leading you into a highly climatic ending.

Star Trek Deep Space Nine Millennium Book I of III - The Fall of Terok Nor

The premise:

This story spans the history of Bajor and the short six years that Starfleet and Captain Sisko has been in command of Deep Space Nine. Going back to the Day of Withdrawal, the day the Cardassians withdrew from Bajor after sixty years of brutal oppression and slavery, this novel begins with Quark, Odo and Garak witnessing an event they will not remember for sometime...

Captain Sisko finds himself and his crew in the precarious position of trying to solve the murder of an Andorian smuggler whose body guards wish to seek revenge upon Quark who they believe murdered the Andorian. At the same time, Vash appears on the station bringing her usual trouble with her and three Cardassians show up as well, despite being in the middle of the Dominion War in which they're clearly an enemy species. Add all of these events up and throw in some extremely interesting Bajoran artifacts that may spell doom for the station and what you have here is one of the most intriguing and compelling Star Trek Deep Space Nine stories ever put to print!

Star Trek Deep Space Nine Millennium Book II of III The War of the Prophets

The premise:

At the conclusion of Book I, The Fall of Terok Nor, Captain Sisko and crew inadvertently brought together the three Red Orbs of Jalbador causing the destruction of Deep Space Nine and the creation of a second, red wormhole or temple to open up in Bajoran space. In a desperate attempt to save as many lives as possible during the destruction of the station, Sisko orders Deep Space Nine abandoned. He finds himself; his senior staff, his son, Garak, Vash, Quark and Rom are all aboard the Defiant. While desperately trying to save as many lives as possible and get the Defiant away from the newly forming wormhole, his ship is fired upon by Leej Terrell, one of the few remaining Cardassians from the Obsidian Order who has been searching for the Red Orbs for years only to be foiled by Captain Sisko. The Defiant is forced into the event horizon of the newly formed wormhole and slung into the future. Captain Sisko and crew find themselves being fired upon by Starfleet vessels seemingly opposed to one another, both looking for his allegiance.

Captain Sisko now finds himself in the year 2400, right in the middle of the War of the Prophets where Weyoun is now Kai Weyoun and he's leading the way towards bringing the two Celestial Temples together, forcing the destruction of the universe.

Star Trek Deep Space Nine Millennium Book III of III Inferno

The premise:

At the conclusion of Book II The War of the Prophets, Kai Weyoun has ensured that the two wormholes are in close proximity, causing the destruction of the universe. Fortunately for our heroes, they all find a way to be there when the wormholes are opened and are consequently pulled into them just before the rest of the universe is snuffed out! Here is where the trilogy gets extremely intriguing as the authors take us through the majority of the characters experiences as they're each thrust into their own personal Pah-wraith hell and are consequently saved from this by somebody that would be the least expected to do so.

Captain Sisko now finds himself in the situation of having to come up with a way to get everybody home to their own time frame while saving the universe at the same time. To hamper him and his crew in their collective efforts to get home, their stuck in the red wormhole and are constantly being shifted around in time.

The authors do an exceptional job of setting up a situation where our heroes have many problems to solve while at the same time, they're all shifting around in different time frames spanning six years on the station! You add all this up and it all comes out as one of the best Star Trek trilogies in print! I highly recommend this Star Trek Deep Space Nine trilogy as it is truly one of the best Star Trek stories in print!

Also included in this Omnibus:

DS9 Millennium Timeline by Allyn Gibson.

Overall, I highly recommend this outstanding Omnibus as this trilogy contains one of the best Star Trek stories in print and not to mention that the three paperbacks are no longer available. {ssintrepid}

Terrific Book
When I first began the Millenium trilogy, a scant two weeks ago I was a little disappointed. The first book has so much going on from so many vantage points that I didn't know how it related to either the overall premise or the forthcoming continuing novels. Boy was I surprised by Book II which at some points reminded me of Stephen King's The Stand where the DS9 crew is reduced to watching helplessly as their universe past/present/future crumbles at the hands of Kai Weyoun. Book III---Inferno goes even further because it tackles what is at the heart of understanding The Prophets, the Celestial Temple, Capt. Sisko's existence, the whole DS9 mythos which boils down to non-linear time. The concept of time having to be first explained to the Prophets and then their comprehending it enough so that they can teach/reveal/manipulate Sisko that what is always has been, what shall be is and that there is no what and that there always has been a thought that is staggering for a tv series/serial novel to accomplish. But the authors pull it off with an aplomb and yet a technical knowledge of physics and technobabble that makes it all comprehensible. It's good to see that the DS9 crew all experience different ideas of faith, belief in whether or not the Prophets are true "Gods" or merely interferring/insane aliens because it fosters a belief that all beliefs should be respected. One man's religion being anothers science. Even at the most desperate of times, Sisko and crew fight against the Pah-Wraiths destructive intent but never they're right to believe, a critical distinction. And the crew, particularly Sisko and to a heavy science bent Jadzia Dax and the surprising twist character of Commander Arla continuously question the Prophets, their pre-destined path for him and the world of Bajor that allows this final installment to securely lock with the two before into a terrific, wryly funny, dark, poignant story about faith and how the universe is bigger than any one crew. The DS9 crew (including Quark (who is both heroic and understandibly terrified, Nog (a boy/future Captain who risks literally everything to becming one of teh progenitors of all Bajoran faith with admiral Jean Luc Picard and the thief/vamp Vash, the hilariously dark Garak and Rom (who Garak secretly suspects is a master Ferengi scientist hiding as a dimwit)hurled through time, non-time, space, life and death have an intrinsic bond of group humanity/integrity/humor that makes them rival the original Star Trek Enterprise crew. A nice point about these novels is that it occurs a year in DS9 time before the final show so lots of plot points and foreshadowings are filled in to make the time spent with this crew even more rich to the serious fan. I am a serious Sisko fan, Avery Brooks fan, from way before DS9 but he embodies a captain, a father, a man, and to some degree though it isn't overtly stated, a Black man (the thought of Sisko being a discriminated against sci-fi writer of the early 20th century who is merely imagining/scrawling the DS9 adventures on a wall that Sisko's son, Jake will one day write as a book himself four hundred years in the future about a man in the 1950's who is a discriminated against Black sci-fi writer who writes about DS9 is chilling, non-linear and equisitely managed and bent and twisted and toyed with so that you actually leave with several fully co-existing, non-conflicting, non-linear beliefs about exactly what's going on. Forget STTNG, DS9 would be the hit Star Trek film Paramount is looking for! Makes you wonder what's going on with Voyager (Seven, Janeway and the Doctor pop up here too).

A spectacular book...one of a kind!
I am not much of a book reader but when I decided to start reading some Star Trek novels, this one really drew me in because it is superbly written on many levels. The author's have a rich and detailed knowledge of the star trek universe, they really know how to tell a story and best of all, it is a very poetic and elegant(sp) writing style unlike any I've seen before. It really got my imagination racing and my love of Star Trek has deepened even further. I just bought volume II of the series and I can't wait to start reading it. Any true Star Trek fan owes it to themself to read this series. The author's writing is phenominal!

awesom study
I just led this book with a group of high school girls. I modified some of the questions for them, but it was an great book for them to discover their worth and purpose as young Christian women.

Must Read Book for Women in Transition
If you are going through a time of transition or know of a woman who is, this is the perfect book to help chart the course for the future. Judith's transparency made it so much easier to take a good close look at my own life and my fears about the future. All I am hearing about are churches who are bringing Judith Couchman in to do retreats/seminars on this book and its Bible study.

Life-Changing Book
Unlike many Christian books written for women, this book is written for today's women (not those of my mom's generation). It is a breath of fresh air. I found it deeply challenging, thought-provoking and practical. If you are in a time of transition, don't take another step without this book and the companion Bible study that goes with it. All I am hearing about are churches and other groups doing seminars on this book and the study. After reading it, I can see why it is the big rage.

Mesmorizing
Never before has spirituality and psychology been so compatible and accessible. This book has opened my eyes and has allowed me to find new meaning in my life. This is truly one of the most important books I have ever read. Those who read this extraordinary book will never forget Dr. Miller.

Encourages the reader to be open to all possibilities
Judith Miller integrates her acquired knowledge and understanding of the mystical into an innovative therapeutic approach redefining the concepts of mental health and mental illness in Direct Connection: Transformation Of Consciousness. Miller challenges the medical establishment to re-examine the way in which it perceives human nature. She encourages the reader to be open to all possibilities and approaches to our understanding, including those revealed in shamanism, Christian mysticism, and our modern era experiences in personal, metaphysical, and psychological healing and transformation. Highly recommended and accessible reading.

a major contribution to mental health
Judith Miller does what few people in her field have done. She speaks from her heart and gives humans a glimpse at their true nature. Far better than most new age superficiality,"Direct Connection" holds promise for all the people who have been wrecked by the psychiatrists who are ignorant of the meaning of spiritual consciousness. Why have we not heard of Dr.Miller before?

Discovering Your Past Lives: Spiritual Growth Through a Knowledge of Past Lifetimes
Published in Paperback by Thorsons Pub (1995)
Authors: Glenn Williston and Judith Johnstone
Amazon base price: $15.00
Average review score:

This is the best study to date of this fascinating subject.
At last, a book written with real intelligence on a subject that is too often approached from a purely sensationalistic viewpoint. Dr. Williston brings the perspective of a scientist to real experiences of past-life memory. Even though the text is not highly technical or burdened with professional jargon, psychologists will learn much from it. It should be the starting point for all further investigation in this field. At the same time, seekers of spiritual insight will find much nourishment in these pages. And, after reading it, people who wish to explore this realm of experience for themselves will know exactly how to proceed.

Marvelous, exciting, entertaining, informative... WONDERFUL!
This book gave me new hope.... I never believed in past lives, but I must say that after reading this book I was convinced. Lots of fascinating cases with lots of proof, research, and thoroughness. I think it is just great! It is the book to buy even though others have the same name. This one came first and is the best by far.

Outstanding Title that leaves others way behind
This is the best book anyone could find on the subject of reincarnation and regression therapy. It reads at times like a mystery story, and yet, offers so many detailed techniques for individuals and therapists to use for regression. This is THE book on the subject... a classic. HIGHLY recommended. I know from a friend it is used as a text book in some universities.

Get ready to start taking orders!
I am working on 2 Swartz patterns: the basket-weave cardigan in this book and the Inner Child mittens from "Hip to Knit." As mentioned in other reviews, this book has patterns in every skill range and allows you to perfect a technique in a short time. The gauges are varied to allow for every gauge preference to find a suitable pattern. You cannot imagine how cute your dog will look in the finished sweater - my mom's miniature schnauzer gets nothing but praise for her high cuteness factor in her sweater (the one that is pictured on a schnauzer and I knit it out of Dover in silver/blue). Her patterns are clear and uncluttered and these projects (and book size) travel very well. I have a request for the garter stitch sweater for a friend and am excited to start it. You will not regret investing in this book!

Even a beginner can use this book.
I only knew garter stitch when I bought this book. In fact, I'd never read a knitting pattern, but I do sew, embroider and quilt. I'm what they call an "adventurous beginner", and this book is written in such a way that I understand most of the instructions. If there's something I don't get (like twisted rib), I search the Web and I'm off. My little pug Marley now has the most glorious basketweave cardigan known to man, and my other pug has an Icelandic sweater in the works.
My advice for beginners: read the patterns through carefully, and make the _exact_ sweater in the book before you start adding width, etc. The sweaters work up pretty quickly. If the resulting test sweater doesn't fit your dog, donate it to a rescue.

Dogs In Knits by Judith L. Swartz
I must say, out of all the books I am currently reviewing that this is MY personal favorite. I love Dog In Knits! And for all you Cat People out there, this is a great book for you too. The sweaters are sized for pets from small to large. In fact, I know a few freshly shorn sheep that might like one of these stylish sweaters, too.
Almost as much as I enjoyed reading each of the patterns, I also found myself looking forward to each of the model's introductions and the pages of additional information which included favorite dog names, facts, recipes for treats, interesting information about a few organizations for pets, and natural pest treatments.
Swartz includes sweater measurements for dogs weighing up to 75 pounds, but I found the patterns easy to adjust. They are easily knit or crocheted using your own pet's measurments, then just adjusting the patterns up or down as needed. These patterns start at Small, which is listed as being for a dog under 10 pounds. I easily adjusted that measurement to fit a smaller dog just by reducing the calculations one step further and following the pattern she had already set for the larger size. Charts and line diagrams are easy to read, colorful, and concise.
Although the yarn brand used in each sweater is noted, yarns are listed by type and size along with needle and gauge measurements. Yardage requirements are listed for each of the sizes along with its finished measurements, as well.
Another great feature of these patterns and this book is that they are all easy to knit or crochet for needleworkers of all skill levels. The range of styles includes colorwork, an Aran pattern, and even a pretty lacy party dress which is my personal favorite. Each style uses a different technique and it is explained carefully in easy to understand directions. Swartz also includes patterns for pillows, blankets and Christmas stockings.
The easy to read glossary includes abbreviations, directions for intarsia and stranding, knit, crochet & embroidery stitch dictionaries, and also finishing ideas which even include how to sew a zipper in knits.
Note: These sweaters also would be attractive used on your "stationary pet", ie: stuffed favorite like a teddy bear or bunny.
You will want to take this book home with you, not to mention all the models in the book, too.
Buy it today and start making stylish knits for your favorite pet!

A Mother's Love Never Fades
As a hispanic man I enjoy books that celebrate cultural diversity and lifelong learning. Although the author Judith Kan is an Asian woman, I feel as if I can relate to the hard won advice she gives her daughter in Essays From the Heart. My wife died two years ago and won't be able to see our daughter graduate this year. It breaks my heart not only because I miss my wife, but because my wife and daughter were so very close. I gave Essays From The Heart to my daughter as an early graduationm gift. She says that when she read it she was flooded with memories of time spent with her mother. She felt as though her mother was there, ever so gently helping her make important decisions for her future. At a time when a daughter needs a mother most, Judith Kan has given us a gift that will last a lifetime. Thank you so very much.

A Beautiful Book!
Life is hard and full of opportunities to make mistakes. It is my opinion that any help from outside sources should be welcomed with open arms and a discerning mind. One of the joys of being an adult is that we have permission to make decisions based on our experiences and knowledge.

Judith Kan has drawn the roadmap for a successful transition from childhood to adult life. Based on her own life experiences, and the experiences of her colleagues and friends, Essays From the Heart offers an incredible link that offers no option other than success. Kan herself admits that there is no one right answer to the problems we face in life, and she also admits her own human mistakes. There is no way to totally avoid the pitfalls in the road of life, however after gleaning knowledge and understanding from those around you, an adult should have the ability to dust themselves off and start down the road again.

Judith Kan's book is beautifully written and her fresh literary voice offers pearls of widsom that are timeless and appreciated by audiences worldwide. Whether you are looking for an inspirational gift for a young person or an adult needing to refocus their life, this book will help in their search for answers.

Find the real you and why you are that way
The BEST self help book I have ever read. It not only tells you, who you are, but why you are that way. Great for those who think they have to be in total control, because no matter how much you want control, you can't have total control, and have a productive life

Brilliant...
I was not expecting to find such an accurate description of myself in this book, but as I read on I did and I was amazed at how Stills hit the mark dead on. I pondered her assessment of my behavior and her suggestions on fixing things for days. I've also used the book to help understand other people. Self-help books are meant to bring about a stronger sense of self-awareness and if you're reading this and need a tool to help you start finding out who you are, READ THIS BOOK.

An Accurate Mirror and a Makeover Kit, Period!
Appropriately named, the author's interpretations of the problems of human nature boils down to the vary basics of our own personality - the facade we create for ourselves. More often than not we tend to paint an inaccurate picture of ourselves far removed from reality and that is the real stumbling factor in our way to be better humans. The more we understand the accurate pattern we all project to others and to ourselves, we better we will be in realizing the "excess baggage", the emotional load we throw at others.

I was pleasantly surprised at the way this book analyzes and portrays the human behavioural patterns. It has three simple steps to make you feel more worthy of living - identify the pattern you are protraying for yourself, identify the real you and make corrections to make them together. The author must have gone through rigorous research and observations before writing this book and made our tasks simpler to look at a mirror, of our own reflections. I initially got the book from the library but decided to own it for my own reference, and for others.

A Must Have for anyone who works with FAS children
...after reading countless books on ADHD...this book was the first thing that made any sense at all, and finally gave me the information I needed to get my stepson diagnosed properly at age 12.... This book would be the quickest and best way, other than through years of living with someone with FAS, to try to understand the complexities of this condition. MOST people cannot understand it until they either have lived with it for years, worked with it for years, or at the very least read this book. Highly recommended. Dont raise, teach, or work with a FAS child and thier family without this kind of knowledge.

A must have for any parent, caregiver with FAS/FAE children
On a personal level this book has been a godsend!.Our child was recently diagnosed with FAE and this book has been our bible. You can refer to any section of this book at any time for helpful information. From reading this book, I now see my child as a child with special needs and not as a monster child! . My child didn't ask to be born this way,it is not my child's fault! . I see hope where once there was despair. I would love this book to be part of all teachers curriculum! .

Fantastic Antone Succeeds
Fantastic Antone Succeeds is a wonderfully informative book full of true-to-life stories from parents of FAS kids and helpful advice from educators who have worked with them. I came away with a greater all-around knowledge of the condition and a reasuring feeling that I wasn't the only one out there 'in the trenches'. If you are the parent of an FAS/E child or an educator, this is an invaluable handbook to take with you on your journey. e-mail brownla@midstatesd.net
