The suggested remedies require an act of the legislature.
The suggested remedies almost all require an act of the legislature. The problems derive from the ego and training and self protection habits of the legal profession. The legislature is composed of many lawyers and will not act. Citizen passage of a propositions is essential, part of which will be citizen insistence on citizen review of fees and performance. An uphill fight, which can be won, to the benefit of all. WaltonCA@aol.com

Great for educating the masses.
I read this book, but as a cross dresser, I did not find answers for me in this book. I found it informative about the many diverse classifications of transgenderism. I would not suggest this for a transgendered person to find help, but I would suggest it for a person trying to learn about transgenderism and it's many facits. I found many of the statements in the book to come from the psychiatric community, not from transgenderd people themselves. It is a book looking in, not a book from within.

How to Bring Balance to your Body's Energy System
The illustrations provided in this book on how to enhance the spiritual process are very worthwhile. Some of the illustrations show you how to combine sound (vowels), with specific postures and breathing. If you are at all familiar with sound therapy, this book is very much like sound therapy, only better. This book discusses sound therapy, but combines sound with movement and breathing. The actual explanations of esoteric philosophy will bog the reader down very quickly and I did not find it of much practical use. However, I do recommend this book for its illustrations and explanations on how to balance and restore energy, as well as how to enhance and accelerate spiritual consciousness.

A beautiful work of 17th century scholarship
The market for this book is limited in the extreme, but to the right people it's a goldmine. Ashmole was one of the first modern historians, who applied considerable research and careful critical examination of evidence to draw conclusions. If you are interested in the history of the Garter, the British orders of knighthood, or early English historiography, this is a worthwhile book. It certainly should be on the shelf of any self-respecting research library, as it forms a marvelous primary source for a wide variety of research.

The publisher's description of this book is nonsense. The book was published in the 1660's, not 1715. While Ashmole was the first known English Freemason, and among the last of practicing alchemists, he was hardly a mystery-man. The Order of the Garter, while profoundly exclusive, isn't remotely secretive. A more recent survey of that great order may be found in Begent and Chesshyre's The Most Noble Order of the Garter: 650 Years. And if it took the publishers 5 years to find a copy, they weren't looking very hard.

I give three stars as a cop-out rating. After all, how do I properly rate a 340 year old reference book? It has research value. It has wonderful engraved illustrations, though I don't know how well the current publisher reproduces them. My copy is one of the crown jewels of my heraldry library.

Cover Photo is Questionable
Sullivan's decorative designs are much cruder and less engaging than the design on the cover (The Schlesinger Mayer store) which is almost assuredely the work of his cheif draftsman, Geroge Grant Elmslie. This type of awesome interlace coincides with the years Elmslie was employed by Sullivan and reappears on Elmslie's work after he leaves.

Sullivan was a marginal architect (See Three Great Architects) whose greatest contribution may simply be that he was the focal point for the Group of Eighteen.

Pretty good listening
I am amazed this has not received any reviews! This is a good old-fashioned shoot-'em-up adventure hard sci/fi with the beautiful, brainy, courageous warrior and two studdly sidekicks: Kane, with whom she has an unstated love-interest and his pal, black Grant, the bruised giant with the big heart. They are fighting on an Earth long destroyed by WWIII and nuclear bombs but the whole scenario was set up eons ago by alien Archons, shawdowy figures controlling their earthly puppets and decimating mankind. The three work in a secret underground redoubt, Cerebrus, where they have the wise, old leader Lakash who lived during the 20th c. before the war and is working to undo the damage done by the Archons. In this book, they travel to a hidden base in the Gobi desert and battle descendents of Kublai Khan and other Asian warlords and their Russian archenemies for some secret Archon treasure trove. Lots of fights, blood, torture, great descriptions, stock characters but extremely entertaining especially if you are an 'aggressive driver' as I am and need something to take your mind off that idiot in front of you who doesn't know where he/she is going. Great action adventure. Listen to it for fun!

not as comprehensive as other texts i have read
compilation of english alchemical writings,in fact more of a poetical tribute to alchemy and the pursuit of the true philosophers stone.Other reco- mended books are;anything written by Nicholas Flam mel,Mary Anne Atwood,Anaxagoras? Anything to do with Picatrix /Emerald Tablet. A good idea is to compare these writings with philosophy from the early thirteenth century and up to the present, then keeping in mind these facts go to Physics,Quantam physics and Cosmology.A good example is the similarity of ideas that physicists have about reality. This is only my own humble view

Dos Mundos approach to languages
I have been teaching using this book, which only works for intermediate students: In fact it is the best book I have ever found FOR TEACHERS! The grammar explanations are clear but it has too many concepts in each chapter, it is definitely a book I would NOT use with beginner students, it doesn't provide for enough drills and practices. For beginners, it is very important to have just one type of exercises and a lot of drills until they start internatilizing the language. There is nothing wrong with the book, if the authors would state that it is only for students of a certain level. Also, for all book writers, please do not use American-APuerto Rican or American Cuban accents, we can't use those phony accent tapes in Latin America when we know that native speakers don't speak like that. The vosotros should be dropped and left as a marginal note. The model of the language that is still being used in the United States is the Spanish from Spain. Currently, Spanish from Mexico is the Spanish most widely heard and it has been chosen as the model Spanish for Latin MTV. The theoretical concept of the "Natural approach" is great, if the book is true to the theory behind it, it must provide for true beginners, or make a preliminary book to accompany DOS MUNDOS.

very effective text
I took two years of high school Spanish, then went over 6 years with no Spanish lessons or use and I found this book very useful. Since this book uses a different style of teaching Spanish, it is necessary for the instructor who is teaching the class to use and follow the "Natural Approach." When coupled with a good instructor and the workbook/audio tape portion, this text was a very effective learning tool.

An excellent Spanish classroom program
I used this textbook as part of an intensive Spanish language program at my local junior college. Part of the reason I was excited by the program is that I have use the natural language method before, in the French in Action series, and found it excellent.

The Dos Mundos program is intended to be used in a classroom setting and I would not recommend it for home study. Unlike the French in Action series, it does not include extensive home video material that can take the place of an instructor. An instructor comfortable with the book and the natural language method is critical to success with this program.

I find that the natural language method, presenting all of the material in the new language and explaining in the language, prevents early language errors caused by translation and gives immediate satisfaction of being able to speak more than rote phrases. Dos Mundos is the only complete natural language program currently available for Spanish.
