Pretty Good.
I usually don't like Bone Chillers or Betsy Hayne's books very much, but this one definitely deserves to be read. The suspense in here is pretty well-viewed, and the villains of the strory are pretty cool. Wish the other Bone Chiller books were this good (Especially "Strange Brew", ugh!).

The Beginning of The Series
Beware the Shopping Mall was the first book out of the series written and created by Betsy Haynes. I was suprised at how Betsy Haynes can write so wonderful. In the book, there is a new mall about to open called Wonderland Mall. But there are strange rumors about the place. It seems that the mall has been built under a graveyard by mistake. And all the clerks in the mall seem a bit strange if you know what I mean by strange...

Something is lookng for the girl named Robin and her friends in the mall. They must investagate the place to find the mysterious "thing" that's been haunting the mall. Something dead lies in the mall, and now it's up to the kids to find what it is, before IT finds them first...

Friends Are Precious
A book that shows just how precious friends are is "The Fabulous Five Together Again" by Betsy Haynes, also author of the Taffey Sinclair books. The main charactera are the fabulous five- Christie Winchell,Jana Morgan,Katie Shannon,Melanie Edwards, and Beth Barry. Then there is the England three- Pheobe Mahoney,Nicki McAfee, and Eleanore Geach.

This takes place in England. After her dad gets transferred from the United States to England,Christie is forced to make new friends, the England three, but when the fabulous five come to visit,Christie has trouble on her hands.

I think the overall theme is to show the value of friends I give this book four stars.I recommend this book to anyone who has moved away from friends or who has had friends move away from them.

Christie in the middle...
When The Fabulous Five comes to England over Spring Break, Christie is sure that they'll immediatly become friends with her English chums, Phoebe, Nicki, and Eleanore. They weren't really at each other all the time, but the England girls were upset that all of Christie's time was being taken up by her old bffs. But I don't think they were being fair- the Fab Five wasn't staying long and they hadn't seen Christie forever. I don't blame them for getting mad when Ellie and Nicki's boyfriends were flirting with Melanie and Beth- that wasn't very thoughtful at all of the boys or Mel or Beth. Still, I enjoyed this book even though it seemed so quick and the end was too short. And hey, if you want to know more about England, read this! Mrs. Haynes knows her London!

The Great TV Turnoff ( Fabulous Five, No 24 )
Katie Shannon is tired of everyone watching so much television, and Mrs. Shannon believes Katie has a point. So she writes an article saying that television is a huge menace to society, which makes Wakeman Junior High decide to have a TV turn off. This means students, teachers, and their families will turn off their sets for two whole weeks! Suddenly, everyone seems to be angry at Katie. Can she show them that just because the television turns off it doesn't mean the fun goes with it?

Troublemaker!
That's what Katie's being called now by fellow classmates... and it's not even Katie's fault! If only Katie had never mentioned how she wished there was no TV... she had been mad when she said that, mad that her boyfriend would rather watch a ball game on TV then be with HER. She hadn't expected her mom to jump up and write a newspaper article about what a menace TV was and get Wacko Jr High involved in a TV Turnoff! Now Katie can't get a moment's peace at school, and she and Tony had a huge fight... will things ever get back to normal? This book was an excellent addition to The Fabulous Five series, and I highly suggest it. I think it's my favorite "Katie" book in the whole series! A lot happens in it, and there is a lot of interaction between all the kids at school, not just with the Fab Five.

Liar, Liar
This book was interesting, as it focused on Laura instead of the Fab Five for a change. It didn't really make me feel sorry for Laura though. She really is a snob. The book wasn't as exciting as I had hoped it would be either. Still, if you ever get the chance to read it, you should. It just isn't one of my favorites.

Laura's Secret ( Fabulous Five, No 26 )
Laura has a secret. Everyone thinks she has the most perfect life, awesome clothes, great hair, and no mom to nag her. If only they knew how hard it is for Laura, she has to cook, clean , and do all the other housework. To make sure know finds out she tells everyone that she has a maid. Everything goes perfectly until Alexis finds out the truth. Laura quickly covers herself up with another lie, but now it might be Alexis who gets hurt.

What a lapse on judgement...
Boy, was I surprised at Christie in this one! She's one of the more intelligent girls in this series, but I guess her judgement took a vacation here when she decided to date Bath's boyfriend, Keith when Keith & Beth get into a huge fight. I re-read this book recently along with the BSC's "Mary Anne's Big Breakup" & I saw a LOT of similarities between Beth's rocky relationship with Keith & Mary Anne's stormy relationship with Logan. Personally, I think Keith is a jerk & Beth is better off without him! Keith gave poor Beth a hard time about being in the play. I was sooo glad that Beth stood up to Keith & stayed in the play. Even though Beth is outgoing, funny & loud while Mary Anne is shy & quiet, they both have some things in common, like they sometimes doubt themselves. I know Beth was hurting when that jerk Keith dated Christie. Keith, like Logan, was too possessive & wanted to hog up Beth's free time. Beth is one talented girl & if she really focused herself, she could go a long way in this world.

Beth shows she's not going to be pushed around..
Okay, Beth Barry's breaks up with her boyfriend in the beginning of this book because he wants her to give up some of her activities so they can be together more, though he can still do everything HE wants- Beth says no way. Then, she starts to miss him (WHY??) and gets really upset when he starts asking Beth's good bud, Christie, out. I can see how Beth would be jealous here, though Keith is definatly not worth it. Meanwhile, Beth is also playing the main role in the school play, and has to keep concentration on that. Overall, I'd say this is a good book.

You should read this one!
When the rest of the Fabulous Five enter Christie into the class president competetion without asking her first, Christie is upset because she doesn't want to be president. But she doesn't want to make her friends mad, so she goes along with it. At the same time, she is tutoring this boy in her class who she sort of has a crush on, and discovers a secret about him. This is a pretty good book- I like how Christie handles things.

Third Book in The Fabulous Five Series
Seventh-grader Christie Winchell has always been considered the quiet, brainy one in her group. She's also well-known and liked among the faculty members, especially by Mr. Bell, Wakeman Junior High's principal and a good friend of Christie's mother. That's why her four friends nominate her to run as president in the seventh grade class election; they're certain she'll be a shoe-in with her "connections". Christie is somewhat reluctant, though, but she doesn't want to disappoint anyone either. So, with the help of Jon Smith (the quiet seventh-grader Christie's been tutoring in math), Christie sets out to find a happy medium by creating a mystery candidate to run against her and prissy Melissa McConnell (part of The Fantastic Foursome, The Fabulous Five's arch rivals) in the upcoming class election.

I thought "The Popularity Trap" was a pretty good children's book... if you're into the Fab Five series, you'll probably like this third installment. Recommended for 9 to 12-year-old girls.

This was pretty good...
I liked this one, thought I think Melanie is too crazy about flirting and stuff. She needs to quit worrying about getting other boys' attention and actually stick with the boyfriend she has. I think it's good though because it teaches a lesson.

Melanie learns a lesson the hard way...
When Mel starts flirting with three of the cutest guys in school, she ends up getting a date to this party with all three! Only one of the guys thinks she's someone else! I loved how Melanie learned that personality is the real thing to be liked for and that in the end, that's what people will always like you for. Not looks...

Welcome to Alien Inn
I rated this book as a 4 star because it was a pretty good book to read. The reason I rated it a 4 star instead of a 5 star is probably because it was too short. Welcome to Alien Inn is the kind of book that you have trouble putting down, but the element that disapointed me was that it was short. Since I am a pretty fast reader, I read it in about 2 weeks. If you like science fiction, I would think that you would like this book. This book has a typical science fiction plot. The family goes to a place to stay, and that place just happens to be a space ship from outer space that is shaped like an inn. And of course all the members that work at the Inn are aliens. Even the people that are supposed to be "staying" there are aliens. As I said, if you are a science fiction person, I think that you would enjoy this book.

Synopis:
A blizzard forces Matt Meyer and his family to stay in a roadside hotel. Strangley everyone has names of characters on T. V. Matt finds out that the bellhops and other children are aliens with very sinister plans for Matt and his family. . .

Taffy Sinclaire-the secret admire epidemic
I found this book by mindlessly walking down the isles of the library. The cover was not very appealing, but my friend Amy had reffered it to me, and told me it was a quite fun book. So i thought to myself, would it hurt to try? So, i checked out the book and i think the book was quite intresting and fun. Though the cover could use some work.

This is about a girl named Jana Morgan. All her friends are being asked out except for her. She wants Randy, the guy she likes to ask her, but he doesn't. Instead, he hangs around Taffy, a snobby girl a lot. So, Jana got jealous. Later, someone wrote a secret admirer letter to Jana. She wanted to find out who it was so she goes on a mission. The admirer is a surprise! Read this book and find out who it is!

My favorite character is Jana Morgan. Jana Morgan is my favorite character because she can relate to any other normal girl in this world today. Wanting to be asked out by the guy she likes, thats not a story line that the usual story uses. This story relates to girls and makes me feel comfortable that their are girls just like me out there.

Snobby Taffy
I first read this book because my friend, Jennifer, recommended it to me. After reading it, she described it to me as a exciting book. Also, when I read the back of the book, it seemed really interesting. The picture looked fun, too.
In this story, Jana Morgan's friends are all going out with their boyfriends, except for her. She wants Randy, the boy she likes, to ask her, but he didn't. Then when she saw Randy and Taffy hanging out together, she became jealous. Soon, she received a secret admirer letter. Jana and her friends went out to find out who it was. The answer surprised them! I think Jana is a independent girl who is just afraid to spill her feelings. She needs to be more open to guys.
I really enjoyed this book because this kind of stuff relates to real life. It was fun and mysterious, yet has to do with boys. These are the things that most teenage girls have to go through. I would recommend this book to girls, especially, if they love a good, fun mystery.

I LOVE THESE BOOKS!!!!! GO BACK IN PRINT!!!!!!!!!
This was a REALLY good book! It starts with how a few boys in the 6th grade are planning to take their 'girlfriends' to the movies, but Jana is upset because Randy (her 'boyfriend') hasn't asked her yet. Then she sees him hanging out with Taffy Sinclair and is worried he is starting to like Taffy instead. But then, Jana starts getting notes from a Secret Admirier and so she and her friends start a secret mission to find out what boy it is, but discover a very big surpise instead. I LOVE The end of this book, it has sorta a twist. Read it!!!

Taffy Sinclair, Queen of the Soaps

Taffy and Jana HAVEN'T grown up...
So...Taffy's won a part on a soap opera and Jana's all jealous. Taffy, who loves to be the center of attention, brags about her part. The rivalry between Jana and Taffy takes an ugly turn in this book when Jana, egged on by her friends, writes an "expose" on Taffy for the school newspaper and it gets published. I felt kind of sorry for poor Taffy and was glad when Jana got it GOOD from the vice-principal. One cute, but meaningful scene was the day after that "expose" incident, Mona sticks her tongue out at Jana in the lunch line. Mona should have blasted Jana.

Snobby Taffy + Jealous Jana = Trouble
This book is about snobby Taffy Sinclair getting a part in a national soap opera. Of course, Jana is jealous, (anyone would be), and Taffy rubs it in every chance she gets, so the Fabulous Five decide to get even by writing an 'expose' on everything snotty Taffy has ever done. Maybe those things were true, but I don't think Jana should have written it. Just because Taffy is a jerk doesn't mean Jana should lower herself to her level. This is a good book to show what happens when jealousy gets the best of us.

Jana was wrong, but she learned her lesson
I know I'd die of jealousy if I saw my worst enemy on a TVshow, and then having her rub it in the next day at school. This is agreat book that shows the feelings REAL kids feel.
