if you need to learn this book will do it
I wanted to learn C++ and so bought 3 different books after being diappointed with each one. I finally found this book and it was like finding water in the desert. This book provides very good coding examples with an explanation for each line.
It will take you from the very beginning like a "Hello World" program to the end using OOP(Object Oriented Programming). This book is all DOS based and I recommend learning C++ in DOS first to get a solid foundation then you can move onto windows programming. If you're a C programmer who needs to learn OOP then this book will work for you too. If you're a novice then don't worry because this book will teach you the basics.

Excellent beginner book and C/C++ reference
Using this book, I learned C/C++ five years ago when I was twelve years old. It gives excellent background in C and C++. I currently use it as a reference manual when coding.

The name says it all
Great mix of robots in this book--some "standard" variations on familiar prototypes (using UBS parts) and some pretty out there ones as well that I would have never thought of. Excellent book. I've seen the RIS one that came before this but didn't buy it--I'm going to go back and get it now.

Highly recommended for students of Buddhism, Qigong, I Ching
Buddhism, Qigong, the I Ching, and Chinese medicine have been integrally linked together for centuries. All these systems originate from a common theoretical view of reality and compliment, clarify, support, and occasionally challenge each other. Larry Johnson's 18 Buddha Hands Qigong examines Qigong in general, and the energetic transformations possible through these practices, exploring what is referred to as 18 Buddha Hands presents an intriguing perspective of the Yin/Yang mechanics of Qigong, within the manifold framework of the Medical I Ching. 18 Buddha Hands Qigong is highly recommended for students of Buddhism, Qigong, the I Ching, personal health from the perspective of Chinese medical practice and theory.

"Must" reading for the legions of Dylan and Springsteen fans
Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, And American Song is a combination dual biography and musical critique of two great and much beloved modern-day American songwriters and performers. Their distinct flavors, creative drives, and musical works are discussed in detail and contrasted in depth throughout the pages of this respectful, informative, and thoughtfully presented commentary. Simply put, Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, And American is "must" reading for the legions of Dylan and Springsteen fans, and a very highly recommended addition to academic and community library American Music History collections.

Practical and Enjoyable
I've got the latest, sixth edition of this book, and I am very impressed. Relevant, well-organized, and very-well written, this book is a firt-rate primer for those interested in California politics. The book is written in the style I appreciate the most: to the point and matter-of-fact, without needless theorizing and editorializing.

This is not an ordinary textbook. It is not boring or pedantic. Gerston and Christensen present a fascinating panorama of California politics. The book has ten chapters, each of which contains valuable insights and interesting details. The authors completely succeeded in presenting factual information, including tables and graphs, in a way that does not overwhelm the reader or make him want to skip over these things. This masterful integration of factual information into the flow of the narrative makes the book truly enjoyable.

I have a Ph.D. in Political Science; and I rely on information from this book when I get ready to lecture on California politics in my American Government and Politics course in the college I teach. I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to get acquainted with California politics. And even advanced students of the subject, will find the up-to-date information in this book a valuable tool for understanding California's politics and society. Pick up this awesome resource today.

Casimir Pulaski
This is an excellent book to read about the life of Casimir Pulaski who was a hero in the Revolutionary War. Pulaski was from Poland, yet came over to America to help fight against England. There is a monument and a fort named in his honor in Georgia. Best read by 4th graders and older. Middle School students would enjoy the book and read it easily. The cover of book offers a nice visual for early elementary students during a study of Pulaski's life.

The Complete City of Angels
The full score to the popular darkly synical but comic musical, "City of Angels", is a very useful score for any true fan of great musicals. All the songs are in there original keys compared to the vocal selections book where some of the songs (example: Funny) are in lower keys. This was extremely irritating to me so I had to get the full score. It also contains all the diologue which helps one understand the backround to each song. Overall, it is an extremely worth while buy for anyone who wants an accurate version of the musical. Good Stuff!

One poem inside is worth the entire cost
I came here looking for this book after reading one of the poems inside. It's called The Victims by Michael Burgess, and it is brilliant. It's not pretty and it's not flowery, but it's about as real as you can get and it's a wonderful read. If the editors did as well choosing the other contributors, then this book is a true find. And if they aren't as brilliant, it's still going to be worth every dime.

Rock And Roll Classics
This is a great picture book of some of the greatest stars of rock. The cover of Mick Jagger with a sword in his teeth is worth the price alone. This book has more pictures of the Stones in the early years, even has pics of Brian Jones. There are also pictures of the Beatles, U2, Alice Cooper, The Who, Elton John, Queen, Dylan and many others. Still almost half the book seems to be pictures of the Stones. I highly recommend it to the true rock fan.

Drum Gahu!: A Systematic Method for an African Percussion Piece
Published in Paperback by White Cliffs Media Co (1991)
Authors: David Locke and Larry W. Smith
Amazon base price: $25.95
Average review score:

For both the player and the scholar
Drum Gahu is another marvel produced by the leader of Ewe drumming in this country, David Locke. Locke systematicly takes the reader through the patterns, playing techniques, and descriptions of each instrument; the bell, the rattle, kagan, kidi, sogo, and the master drum. In addition, he provides the reader with execises for the playing of these instruments. The text is easy to read, but the musical notation is a bit small. I highly recommend buying the Drum Gahu tapes that are available. The tapes are of Locke performing most of the musical examples in the book. It also has an excerpt of Gahu being performed in Africa; the real thing! I highly recommend this book to anyone interested in learning about Ewe drumming, and to anyone interested in learning to play Gahu.
