The Mystery of the Trinity: Trinitarian Experience and Vision in the Biblical and Patristic Tradition

Ground yourself in the traditions of the church.
I don't come from an Orthodox background, but found Borinsky's book an excellent introduction and overview to the teaching of the Fathers on the Trinity. This book also explores the Trinity in relation to the Old and New Testament as well as the Liturgy. For me, the book provided an excellent foundation for thought and for exploring the significance of the Trinity in relation to all things. In fact, some of Borinksy's ideas could be applied to a Trinitarian view of interpersonal communication.

A scholarly look at the Trinity as manifested in the Church
This book offers an excellent look at the experience and vision of the Holy Trinity in the life of the Orthodox Church. Rather than attempting to explain that which words cannot explain, the author instead chooses to illustrate how the Triune God has manifested Himself to mankind throughout history. The book is divided into four parts: The first section, "Biblical Theology," deals first with how the Trinity was revealed mysteriously to the Patriarchs and Prophets of the Old Testament. It then moves on to the more clear manifestations of the Trinity in the New Testament, both in the Gospels and in the early Apostolic communities. The second section, "Liturgical and Sacramental Theology," illustrates how the Holy Trinity is manifested and experienced in the liturgical and sacramental life of the Orthodox Church. In the third section, entitled "Trinitarian Theology in the Fathers and in the Councils," the author examines how the Trinitarian Theology of the Church developed in the writings of the Church Fathers and Church Councils which refuted such teachings as Arianism and other heresies. Bobrinskoy does an excellent job of illustrating the continuity as well as the diversity of the theologies of the Church Fathers throughout the ages. The final section, "Doctrinal Synthesis," looks at the continuity of the biblical manifestations of the Trinity, the experience of the Trinity in the liturgical life of the Church, and the Trinitarian theology of the Church Fathers. It then turns to how each of these manifestations of the Trinity come together to form the doctrine of the Orthodox Church. I highly recommend this book. Although difficult to follow at times, Bobrinskoy gives the reader an indepth look at the manifestation of the Trinity to mankind throughout history.

I am looking for English translations of the author's poetry
I AM UKRAINIAN BUT ALSO I SPEAKE RUSSIAN. THE BOOK PRACTICALLY STRESSED ME WHEN I WAS YOUNG. NOW I AM THINKING ABOUT THE BEST TRANSLATION OF B.PASTERNAK'S POETRY GIVEN IN THIS BOOK, ESPECIALLY BICOUSE OF THE COMING SHAKESPEARE'S BIRTHDAY! IF SOMEBODY KNOWS GOOD TRANSLATION OF PASTERNAK'S "HAMLET" AND "SHAKESPEARE" PLEASE DO NOT HESISTATE TO COMMUNICATE WITH ME. ALSO I TRY TO TRANSLATE PASTERNAK'S POETRY INTO UKRAINIAN

Great book, if you are looking for an analysis of Pasternak.
This book goes into great detail about "Doctor Zhivago" by Pasternak. It is NOT obvious in the Amazon documentation that this is not the actual novel by Pasternak. DO NOT buy this book if you need to purchase the original novel.

A developer's best friend
I bought this book almost 20 years ago with some skepticism. The title made it sound like it was another book for Dilbert's boss.

But this is a great book. It offers readable insights into why tests are performed, and what tests are appropriate at major phases in a software product. And it doesn't oversell the developer's ability -- **nor the tester's**. A little excerpt to illustrate the balance this book strikes:

"If the programmer just produces a working routine without prood and documentation and all but the primary goals are ignored, its quality cannot be measured and management is impossible. Conversely, if the subsidiary and auxiliary goals dominate, management and quality assurance may seem satisfied, but there's little or no working code to evaluate and manage! You can't burden programmers with filling out thousands of forms -- you can try, but it won't work."

This is a bible for software system testing
I've read this book to build up my software testing knowledge base while I was working for Logitech,CA. Though these're many new tools and papers coming in these years , I 'll still love to recommend this book as an entry book in this field(even this book is out of print).

Everybody's Dream
The Unsinkable Spirit is truly the book about the dream we've all had at one time or another in our lives. It's amazing that Boris and Shirley sold everything at 24 years old and bought a boat. Even more amazing is that Boris, a native of Croatia, bought books and taught himself to use a sextant - and had only one day of sailing lessons before embarking on this awesome journey!
The Unsinkable Spirit takes readers along on a journalistic journey as the Kings learned to navigate around the world. Boris and Shirley are excellent narrators and readers will be held spellbound as they read about encounters with cannibals, sharks and a face-to-face battle with a large eel!
Through it all, the love Boris and Shirley have for their families  - and their dreams - comes shining through.
I've never read a book like this. I honestly couldn't put it down! I can't wait for the next episode! Don't just take may word for it. Read the first chapter for yourself at wwww.theunsinkablespirit.com. Only then will you begin to understand how this couple fought valiantly to make their dream a reality. You'll want to stand up and cheer at their triumphs and cry at their tragedies. Through it all, the spirit of living one's dream will challenge even the most insecure reader.
Shirley says it this way: "It doesn't take an extraordinary person to do extraordinary things."
This book is a keeper. You'll want extra copies for your friends!

Could not put it down.
WOW. This book was a real great read. If anyone out there has ever dreamed of sailing the south pacific, this is the book to read. A real treat.

It gets NO BETTER than this!
The final battle is about to commence!

Lokith returns for revenge against Bloodsong and Guthrun. He is to pave the way for the Goddess of Death, Hel, to overtake the Earth.

By the sides of Bloodsong and Guthrun, remain the Freya-Witch (Huld), the shape-shifting Berserkers, and some ex-slave/warriors. However, to win this final battle Bloodsong must accept her shape-shifting abilities, just as Guthrun must risk using the newly awakened Hel-power within herself, without losing their true selves. ONLY THEN could they reach the lair of an ancient army that waits for Bloodsong to awaken them. Then they would have the chance to send Hel back to Hell!

*** An awesome conclusion to an extra ordinary trilogy! These books are "Keepers" to be read many times over! Author, C. Dean Andersson, has proven his skill for weaving magical stories of unforgettable characters. Highly recommended! ***

This author ROCKS!
The Queen of Death, Hel, instructed the Hel-Witch, Thokk, and the ghoulish Death Riders to kidnap Bloodsong's daughter, Guthrun. Guthrun was nearing puberty. Thokk was to awaken the Hel-magic that was sleeping deep within the teen and use her special blood to grant life to Lokith.

Lokith had once been Thorbjorn, Bloodsong's son, who had been tortured to death as a child. Thokk had helped his corpse mature. Hel had given him power beyond imagination. The only way Bloodsong could defeat Hel was to acquire the help of a God (Odin) and some shape-shifting Berserkers.

*** Mother and daughter fight together in THIS one. Both of them change in ways for the better AND for the worst. I hated to see this book end because it means that only one remains to be read. This trilogy is the best of the best in Fantasy!

Attacking the Queenside (MacMillan Chess Library)

Excellent book, fills gap in literature
Shashin's book is definitely worth having. It is written in an engaging style, with far more text than variations. It emphasizes attacks on the queenside, thus filling a gap in chess literature. I bought this book because I have several books which emphasize attacking the kingside, such as Attacking Technique by Crouch, Attacking the King by Walker, and, most recently, Attack with Mikhail Tal, by Damsky and Tal. Supposedly Tal died before completing the latter book, so an expected chapter or part on queenside attacks was never written. This is what prompted me to pick up the Shashin book, Attacking the Queenside, and I have been delighted with this book. There is a strong emphasis on history, with instructive examples involving Morphy, Staunton, Alekhine, Capablanca, right up through Botvinnik, Karpov, Kasparov, and others. The book is thus a nice historical perspective on queenside attacks, as well as being a very well-written instructive manual. This one is definitely worth getting, if you can find it. For me, a club level type player (ICC 1500), dealing with advancing queenside pawns is one of the most confusing aspects of chess. This book presents a lot of examples of how to do this. Another nice feature is that the author freely quotes from the writings of great players. I especially like this, because often such writings are unavailable. As you can see, I really like this book. It is not flashy, and has a very dull cover and yellowing pages (like most Batsford books from the early '90s), but it deserves very high marks on substance, and I highly recommend this engaging work!

Autism: Myth or Reality?

Groundbreaking book on a much confused ailment
After years of research and in one of his last books prior to his death, Dr. Levinson shows both the misperceptions and realities of living with autism. What is especially encouraging is Levinson's forecast for different possible treatments to the illness. Levinson was also the pioneer of human/animal interaction to facilitate psychological diagnoses and treatments, and he brings this knowledge to bear in this book. This book is a MUST for anyone wanting information on autism and has been very useful in my research and reports on autism.
