A Great Aid in Making the Transition to a Big Bed
I bought this book for my 2 yr. old son about a month before moving him from his crib to his "Big Boy Bed." I had really wanted to find a book that centered the story around a little boy, but after reading about the book & reading other reviews I decided to give it a try. I read it to him for that month & he really seemed to identify with the story. He was very excited about moving into his new bed & new "Big Boy Room." He's been sleeping there for a month now, & the transition couldn't have been smoother! This book really helped to prepare him for the change from crib to bed! The simple story & pictures made it very easy for him to grasp the concept! I highly recommend this book!

Makes the transition from crib to bed a piece of cake!
We bought this book for our daughter about a month before we were going to move her from her crib to her new "big girl bed". We've heard horror stories from other parents who experienced many sleepless nights when they tried to put their child in a regular bed. After reading her this book for about a month, we finally put her new bed in her room and it was a success! She slept the whole night and the night after that and so on! She never climbed out of her crib but we wanted to move her to a big bed (not a toddler bed) before she became too attached to her crib. She'll be 2 in a few days. Buy this book--it's GREAT!!! Good Luck!

Great for transitioning the Tot out of the crib
This book was given to my two year old daughter to transition her out of her crib. It did exactly that. She was very interested in sleeping in her big bed after reading this book.

Fun for parents, too!
This highly-readable book is a visual delight--I love Ayliffe's cheery paintings so much! It is a great book to read over and over--easy text and engaging pictures make this a family favorite!

Anna loved it!
My 18M loved looking at the pictures and lifting the flap to see what happened. We also hunted for the cat on some pages too. A definite must have for any girls named Anna....or just moms of toddlers! I think the book is rated at too high an age group though. 12M and up I say if you are reading it to them!

My 1 year old Anna will actually sit through this book!
My own Anna just loves this book and giggles after every 'Oh No', and normally she is NOT a reader. The book is great as are pictures. A really fun book that 3 year old brother likes too. Highly recommend. I just found out Ms. French has another Anna book that we will have to check out, can't wait to see it too.

I LOVE THIS BOOK!
This book is like sitting down in a wisewoman's kitchen & taking notes. It is full of lots of recipes pertaining to the eight sabbats that we witches celebrate. It has chapters on wine, preserves, freezing, bottling, pickling, salting, drying herbs, mead making, incense making....But this book has a lot of sabbat lore & info that I haven't seen in other books. The food recipes are all vegetarian and include some wild foods that you can harvest yourself (the Latin names are given so that you make sure you're gathering the right thing!). However, the wild plants & fungi listed are from Britain, so Americans may have trouble finding them over here!

This book is helpful, informative, charming & really helps get you into the mood of each sabbat. Plus it doesn't ever preach at you, as some wiccan books can do. Anna Franklin & Sue Phillips really know their stuff.

Full of Goodies!
I bought this book because it was by Anna Franklin, one of my favourite Pagan authors. It is full of information on how to celebrate the Eight Pagan Festivals- there are hundreds of recipes, all with seasonal ingredients, together with ideas for altars, incense recipes, plus lore, history and a chapter of rituals. Furthermore there is information on handfasting ceremonies and celebrations, and full moon (esbat) rites and food, preserving, wine and mead making, and preparing ritual food. I don't know how I mananged before I got this book- it has the information of ten other books, and with Anna Franklin you can be sure that the information is accurate.

A great book!
With so much rubbish and mis-information published on pagan festivals, it's a refreshing change to find two authors with such intimate knowledge of the subject. A powerful blend of pagan ritual and practial advice. An excellent reference book for all pagans, wicca people and Celtic minded individuals.

Wonderful Book! Worth every penny for years to come!
This book is coffee table quality and sits right there! I have gone back to it a million times for historical information and pedigree research. The many, many pictures give it a life of it's own! An outstanding book. Two thumbs WAY UP! :o)

Fantastic book - I give it more than 5 stars!
I've read and reread this book many times. The photos are great and it's very interesting and exciting to read about dogs and rottweiler fanciers I have met and heard of. I recommend this book as a "must have".

Educational, with a variety of great pictures
I read your book and thought you went into detail a lot. You had a great variety of pictures to look at. I think if you had put ways of contacts to find out more information would have improved it even more. Over all a great book.

My Auntie did SPLENDID!
The Author of this book is my Aunt! She did a great job, and it is definatly my favorite book. It is about a young girl named Samantha and her best friend Albert. Albert kills the mayors son in a poker game and excapes from his execution! Albert and Samantha run away and the adventure continues! on the scale of 1 to 10 it's 100! This is a book for ages 9 and up. Please read!

RECKLESS DREAMERS
Lonely teens Samantha and Albert meet and bond instantly on the streets of 1897 San Francisco. Dreams of a better life in Alaska for the two of them lead Albert into a world of gambling, and ultimately murder.

Sentenced to death for her crimes, Albert escapes through Samantha's help. Yet, this makes them both fugitives. When they are separated, each believes the other dead, and grimly determines to go on to Alaska despite their grief.

Samantha manages to stay a step ahead of the vengeful lawman who is hot on their trails. From one set of outcasts to another, she travels through many dangers; being beaten, surviving fire, prejuidice, etc. However, even reaching her goal does not guarantee safety, and a very young girl must battle the forces of hatred before she can hope to achieve her dreams.

Fast and eventful, this novel is good for older teens of both sexes. There is not so much romance as to turn boys off, but there is a slight hint to satisfy young ladies. I emphasize older teens. Some areas are a bit too rough for the younger crowd, but if your child is over fifteen, I would say they could handle it easily. Besides such an action packed story, they will subtly be educated by the well done research displayed and woven into the plot. Further, the message that people should not be judged by their covers anymore than books should be comes across loud and clear, as it is those society shuns who display the most kindness to the young runaway, Samantha.

A Great Adventure With Colorful Characters!
From the beginning of the book, RECKLESS DREAMERS, is packed with action and excitement. The main character, Samantha, and her friend Albert are being hunted by the mayor of San Francisco and his posse because Albert killed the mayor's son in a poker game. Albert is sent to the gallows to hang for his crime, but Samantha rescues him the day of the execution and has to shoot the sheriff of San Francisco in the process. The two had been dreaming of heading to Alaska to partake of the gold rush there but end up being fugitives. Soon the two friends are parted and must find their way to Alaska alone. Along the way Samantha meets up with different people whom she shares dangerous and exciting adventures during her escape. The chase till the end of the book kept me interested throughout the story. I really enjoyed all the characters. The novel was well written and highly entertaining. A good read!

Not just for those with siblings
Though I don't have siblings the way this book describes, I just gave my daughter the gift of a brother. This wonderful book helped me understand how meaningful their relationship will be, and the photos moved me almost to tears in places. It will make a great baby gift for those having second or subsequent children.

Everyone with a sibling will relate to this book!
After reading an excerpt from this book, I purchased six copies, one to send to each of my brothers and my husband's sisters. The photographs are snapshots of life in a family that capture the true essence of sharing your space with a sibling. Alone they create a message that is funny, touching, reminiscent. Combined with Ms. Quindlen's prose, they become a treasure of memories that will have you laughing, crying and nodding your head, "Yes. That is just what it was like!"

This book is a must read for anyone with siblings
This book was able to capture the unique relationship between siblings. Going into detail and siting personal examples; Anna Quindlen was able to make me laugh at my own memories of childhood and the relationship with my sibling. The pictures by Nick Kelsh are able to capture the genuine relationships between siblings in it's most sincere view without having a "staged" look to it. I throughly enjoyed reading this book and really look forward to sharing it with my sister as well as reading it again and again....

powerful and stirring
What can I say. The world is lucky to have the work of Anna Swir. I read her book again and again. Each time, I feel renewed, more easily accepting my own journey.

A must read for women...
Anna Swir writes some of the most beautiful and deeply stirring poems I have ever read. It dives into the frailty AND the power of this womans spirit. Her poems paint pictures in your mind so real and tangible it is guranteed to leave you grasping for emotions and feelings that you may not have known existed within you. I say that it's a must read for women, and I know that coming from a man that is kind of a silly statement. But believe me, Anna writes from a unique and touchingly feminist point of view that in my humble opinion, all women would find both refreshing and inspirational. Here's a preview of her work I found to be beautiful: "THE GREATEST LOVE... She is sixty. She lives the greatest love of her life. She walks arm in arm with her dear one, her hair streams in the wind. Her dear one says, You have hair like pearls. Her children say, Old fool." Poems about old women are hard to find, as if they were taboo, or not worth mentioning in pretty prose. Anna Swir relates often to the matriarch as a symbol of timeless beauty and strength. One final: "THANK YOU MY FATE... Great humility fills me, great purity fills me, I make love with my dear as if I made love dying, as if I made love praying, tears pour over my arms and his arms. I don't understand what I feel, I'm crying, I'm crying, it's humility as if I were dead, gratitude, I thank you my fate, I'm unworthy, how beautiful this life." The book is also filled with some statements on her life, which after reading and understanding what she was surrunded by, leaves you in absolute awe every time you swim through her poems. Please, read these poems. You can thank me afterwards.

Very Enjoyable!
This volume of Anna Swir's poetry was translated by Nobel Prize-winnner Czeslaw Milosz with the help of Leonard Nathan. Anna Swir writes in simple free-verse about her parents, her childhood in Poland, death, love, and growing old. Most of the poems are very brief, though some are long enough to fill two pages. And though brief, they are all full of emotion.

Anna Adams tells a story you won't forget!
Cate wakes up with no memory of who she is. There's a man there, his name is Dan, who claims to be her husband. But there's something more than a marriage between them. There are secrets and old wounds. The more Cate uncovers, the more confused she is. She's not sure she likes the woman she was, and not sure of the marriage she and Dan had. She's pregnant with twins, but hadn't told anyone...not even Dan. What does that say about their relationship?

Unexpected Babies is a story of a woman searching for her identity, searching for her past and searching for a love that may have died. In the end, Cate finds more than she'd ever imagined--she finds a new beginning. I loved the characters' wildly fluctuating feelings...anger, confusion and most importantly love. Anna Adams writes a gripping story about people who's faults and confusions make them seem real.

Treat yourself to a fabulous read
Anna Adams offers a tightly woven, emotionally complex story of a family re-defining themselves. With deft touch, Adams takes us into the lives and hearts of real people dealing with real problems. Cate, Alan, Dan, Aunt Imogen, Uncle Ford, Caroline, Shelley--all will stay with you long after you finish the last page. I can't wait to read Caroline's (Cate's twin)story in November!

An unexpected pleasure -- Very highly recommended
Just after confronting her husband after yet another burned dinner, a dinner where thirty-eight-year old Kate planned to announce her pregnancy, Kate accidentally steps off a curb into a car. Shock from the resulting accident results in amnesia, and now Kate must reestablish her identity. As family members describe her past, however, Kate quickly comes to dislike the "Saint Kate" they all describe, and subsequently surprises family members with her changes. However, relearning relationships and people proves challenging -- Kate desperately wants to recover her memory, because "the nuances of her family relationships was killing her." To make matters worse, when she learns she's pregnant by a man Kate doesn't remember, the eighteen-year-old son she doesn't remember isn't exactly thrilled.

Alan can't help wondering where his wife disappeared to and where this temptress came from. Rather than the repressed, overly protective, deferential woman he's lived with twenty years, suddenly Alan finds himself with a sexy siren who's not afraid to speak her mind. And he likes it. And he especially likes the fact that she's willing to trust him until he can tell her the truth about his failing business. Alan finds himself in quite a conundrum. After all, his mother walked out when his father couldn't provide enough material wealth. Alan believes it's his job to provide for his own family, and never to worry them if funds are a bit tight. But now they may loose the business. Telling means loosing Kate too, but not telling can also mean loosing Kate.

A Romantic Times Top Pick, UNEXPECTED BABIES by Anna Adams boldly deviates from the usual amnesia plot line to present an unexpectedly sensational tale. While most authors use amnesia as an excuse for dependence upon a hero, Adam's heroine is anything but dependent. The opportunity to reevaluate her life and make changes allows her character to grow and change in unexpected directions. Amnesia becomes an impetus for starting over, for making changes, and rethinking relationships, attitudes, and expectations. By surrounding Kate with family, the plot also allows surprising growth not only with the hero but also the secondary characters, thereby presenting a novel surprising depth and filled with surprises. Truly one of the summer's best offerings, UNEXPECTED BABIES is a keeper. Very highly recommended.

Deeply moving,inspirational,transformative & practical
This book is deeply insightful, moving and practical with regard to clarifying what one believes about life's most essential issues, and incorporating these beliefs into day to day parenting. Our 13 year old cat died very recently after a quick downhill decline from kidney failure. I am so grateful for this book's encouragement to determine what values we want to express and transmit, including ones as important as dealing with death (an example stands out to me involving two sisters and their children).

This book gave us a great deal of insight and courage to be very open about what transpired as the cat declined, and to successfully encourage our four year old daughter to take lots of time to actively nurture the cat in his illness, knowing how important it was to make him feel comfortable and loved and to say good-bye. She continues to openly process our cat's death, her feelings about it, and many aspects of death without hesitation.

This is not how I was raised. I lost my father in childhood and nobody talked about it. They were grateful if I did not bring it up so I remained silent, to their great relief. I continued this family value and practice through the early parenting of my own much older children. But this book has now encouraged us to be deliberate in developing a positive, shared way of handling the situation with our youngest child.

I know this is only one event in which I (and I'm sure many others) will be deeply affected by this book.

Using values as a guide
Our 13 year old cat died today after a quick downhill slide from kidney failure. I am grateful for your book's encouragement to determine what values we want to express and transmit such as with regard to death (an example stands out to me involving two sisters and their children). This is not how I was raised. I lost my father in childhood and nobody talked about it; they were grateful if I did not bring it up.
