A good book for amateur geologists...
This book is a good introduction to the overall principals of geology as well as to the specific geology of the eastern US. There's lots of diagrams, maps, photos and an easy to read text. Sections include background information about geology, the major geological features of an area and what you would see along the major highways of that area.

Vashon Island memories of a Monster Clam
Growing up on Vashon Island an island just west of Seattle I have such fond memoroies of going with my Dad and Mom, older brother and later on friends, to dig this wonderful monster clam at the Burton Beach.

This book is a book that every Washington State citizen with pride should own and those of us who live out of state should own and share with our local libraries. The Washington state native americans named this clam and Goeduck means "dig deep" which is what you have to do to get this gem of a clam.

I have a pic on my website that shows just how hard it is. In fact digging goeducks is akin to hunting the big buck or elk. Hard to do and you don't always get your clam as they dig down faster than some can dig.

Great book!

A Field manual of the Ferns and Fern Allies of the United St
This is the most comprehensive book on Ferns and Fern Allies common to the United States that I have found. It gives comprehensive descriptions of over 400 species accompanied by color plates. This is an excellent text of interest ranging from the hobbyist to the graduate student.

Phenomenal Reading!
I had to purchase this book for my english course, but after only two weeks of reading and discussion I feel such an empowerment by the selections. I wouldn't be able to choose a favorite author because each one is represented so uniquely by their stories. After my class is over, I look forward to sitting down and reading those that were not assigned and re-reading those icons of society that were picked by my professor. If you want a short introduction to various famous authors then this is definitely a book you will enjoy!

This book is a must for any amature wild life enthusiast
Dear readers,

Today morning before leaving for work i happen to watch National geographic channel wherein there was one hour programe on Florida panther. It's survival seems to be highly endangered due to the fact that their genetic poll being limited and in-breeding among the cats inevitable it gives a very tragic case of survival. I being an avid wildlife enthsiast from India hope that American people will defenitely do something for the survival of Florida panther.

Thanks

Captivating - What it was really like in the Everglades
My husband is a Floridian who grew up going to the Everglades with his grandfather, grandmother, dad, uncle and cousin "Lucky." He told me a great deal about his experiences and I couldn't really understand until I went there myself and heard some of the stories from family members. They suggested that I read 40 years in the Everglades. I couldn't put it down once I started. It really gave me a feel for what is so important to the men who live and breathe for the Everglades. It made me feel very proud to have experienced some of it and to understand why the Everglades is a special place. It's more than just hunting. It's a way of life. It's getting back to the basics and being aware of everything that is around you. The flicker of a tail, the eyes of a gator, the cypress stands, the swamp cabbage!
