The best kept secrets about the commandments
Now here's the truth, finally! This book confirmed what I already knew in my heart but had been taught quite differently as a kid. Read with an open mind.

Elating!
Words cannot describe how you will feel when you are "loosened" from the ever tightening bonds of man made religion and back into the hands of your Creator. No writer has ever touched me the way Mary Summer Rain has, right down to my soul. I struggle now to find her books that are out of print that I just must get my hands on! I feel any message of hers is humble and heartfelt and worth reading over and over again. Each time you re-read them, you will find something there that you did not recall. Bottom Line-she portrays a world we all want and yearn for and instills us with hope that we will, one day, reach just that.

Thought provking
This is one book by Mary Summer Rain that is quite unlike her previous books. In this book, she has a visitation by an archangel, who is concerned about the spiritual state of mankind. Coming to Mary, he feels that her words will be able to awaken mankind and to help them "turnaround" their negative behavior.

I do believe that Mary's words impact millions of people as she has always lovingly written of the truth and has helped us see the truth.

The book is a fast read and expounds upon the Ten Commandments. The archangel goes into the "simplicity" of each one and how mankind has chosen to disregard these rules from God and explains what can be done to turn things around.

I just finished reading In God's Truth by Nick Bunick and along with this book by Mary Summer Rain, I feel that man has turned around the words of God and man has used these words in ways that God did not intend to be used. The simple words of faith and love have become distorted and as mentioned in the book, we have become an "I" and and a "me" generation.

This is a book of hope, of looking at where one is and where one needs to go. It is a book of introspection and asking of yourself "what is really, really important in my life?" Am I living my life as God wants me to? Would I do the things right now if God were standing right next to me?

Some pretty heavy issues in this book, bring up some major questions. You *will* question yourself and some of the answers you come up with will hopefully have you changing around your life.

I recommend this book enthusiastically.

This book should be required reading BEFORE choosing a pet
Being a volunteer at a local animal shelter, I often see the results of choosing the wrong pet by people who had no concept of what pet ownership entailed in terms of time, expense, training, etc. or even what the personality of a certain breed or species was like. Are You the Pet For Me provides in an easy-to-read format the ABCs of pet ownership whether it be through adoption or purchase. Hopefully, prospective owners will read this well researched volume BEFORE taking on the responsibilities of a pet so that it will be an enriching experience and not a heart wrenching one.

It's a must read book.
I never had much luck with my pets when I was a kid. My dog never stopped barking, my cat was impossible to train, and my hamster kept waking me up at night. If I'd had a book like "Are You the Pet for Me?", I'd have known just what to do. Mary Jane Checchi tells you everything you need to know about choosing and caring for pets. It's a must read.

Should be required reading BEFORE choosing a pet
As a volunteer in a local animal shelter, I see the results of people having chosen the wrong pet and not being informed of all that is involved in caring for that particular animal be it a dog down to a mouse. Mary Jane Checchi has thoroughly researched her subject and has presented in a simple, easy-to-read manner the ABC's of the requirements of various pets. People should be required to read it from cover to cover BEFORE taking on the responsibility of animal ownership either through purchase or adoption.

Truly a classic animal tale
Babe captured my heart, as he was trying to save his own skin. This book is truly a classic animal tale, where the creatures take on believable and human emotions and personalities. We see intelligence, fear, hope, and love, in a heartwarming pig, and his other animal friends. The inter-species bond between Babe and his human farmer is delightful! I have read it several times, and each time, see another angle, in this Pig-Shepherd memoir. Should not be limited to any age group, because adults as well as children will be entertained.

The Best Sheep-pig Ever
When I read the book I thought it was great. I think that Babe set a good example because he never gave up.Babe is a pig that wants to be a sheep-dog.But since he is a pig he can't.But he still tried and his owner entered him in the sheep dog trials.I dont want to spoil the ending for youso that is all I have to say.

Babe the best pig
I had to read Babe in school. I didn't think I'd like it but I really did. I think Babe is very nice. He was always kind to others and never tried to be mean in any way. He got people (sheep) to obey him by just being kind. I think people in the whole world should read Babe and try to be like him.

For Anyone Recovering From a Lost Love
I found this book while searching for manuals on how to raise my new chihuahua "baby." He came into my life not because I had lost someone to cancer like the author, but as a last-chance effort to get over a broken heart. In the end the cause of the loss didn't matter; I could totally relate to the author, her grief and the healing power of 6 pounds of atomic puppy.

My thanks to the author for a book that was an integral part of my recovery and for validating all the feelings I thought were mine alone.

This book is not for the literary snob, or high-brow reader; however, it's pure delight for anyone who thinks they'll never love again after a loss.

Says It All So Well!
An entertaining narrative of Chihuahua personality and charateristics per se, as well as an astute insight into the complexities of emotions and perceptions while restructring life after the loss of a spouse. An excellent account of canine capers and especially personal renewal, spiced with humor and tears, says it all so well!

A great story that has meaning
I really related to this story as I too, lost my husband two years ago with cancer. Also my chihuahuas and cats and birds have been my salvation. I really understand where this lady is coming from. She did an excellant job of relating the real feelings one experiences with a death of a loved one. My hat is off to Mary Beth as a really great writer and may she find the happiness she deserves. I too, believe there is a connection with dog and God.Carole

Airs Above the Ground
This is a great book for young adults. Full of suspense and characteristic flairs. Mary Stewart brings alive the silent countryside of Austria with this thriller.

You can get an education from Mary Stewart
Mary Stewart's Ivy Tree got me hooked on reading and I've read every book she's written. The villain in this book is so memorable I have always remembered his name. This book like all of her books marries romance and mystery but in a way no modern books do, it is romance, not sex. All of her books give you information on either classic works or other historic backgrounds, like the Spanish Riding School, that I got big points from my Humanities teachers from things I learned from Mary Stewart, I never told them how I knew the information. This is one of her best, the people are memorable and the horse is miraculous. Just a treat all round. Read all her mysteries you can't go wrong

Best of the best
Like other reviewers, I read most of Mary Stewart's novels as a teenager when they were called "Gothics". Nine Coaches Waiting and Wildfire at Midnight were wonderful, and among my favorites, but Airs Above the Ground lingers in my memory as the best of Mary Stewart's works. The scene with the old horse on the hillside gives me chills and brings tears to my eyes every time I read it, or even think about it. I went to see the Lippizaners in Austria just because of the influence of this book. Read it--you won't be disappointed.

Animal Grace: Entering a Spiritual Relationship With Our Fellow Creatures

Animal Grace
Psychologist Mary Lou Randour, Ph.D. gave up her private practice to devote herself fulltime to animal advocacy. Animal Grace: Entering A Spiritual Relationship With Our Fellow Creatures is her third book.

Dr. Randour says that "I learned that as we gain access to our hearts and minds, by acknowledging the ways in which we affect the lives of animals, this knowledge benefits us as much as it does the animals." She believes that humans have much to learn from non-human beings and points out that people have had animal companions since the beginning of time.

One of the most important things about animal wisdom is that it's always available to us. All we need to is become aware, which is "about deciding, learning, and acting." Once aware, we then develop compassion. Dr. Randour has found that learning about the intelligence and emotions of non-humans enables us to "overcome other distinctions, such as race, gender, nationality, and religion."

Her underlying philosophy is "ahimsa--harmlessness to all living things."

Dr. Randour includes interviews with world religious and spiritual leaders regarding their beliefs about the ways animals should be treated. She also includes numerous anecdotes describing how animals help humans with love, healing, spiritual growth, and death experiences.

"My work on behalf of animals infused me with a sense of purpose and prepared me to accept my own spiritual energy," Dr. Randour says. Animal Grace will help all readers understand how they too can enter into "reciprocal spiritual relationships" with their fellow non-humans.

Excellent book, but NOT about communicating with animals
I wasn't sure what this book was about when I bought it, even after reading the description and reviews. It kept coming up in my search for books on Animal Communication, so I thought I would check it out.It is definitely NOT about communicating with animals. For books like that, see Penelope Smith, Ted Andrews, etc.

This book was a wonderful read on how to increase our spiritual attunement/connection to animals. Animals have so much to teach us, especially by their examples. It was thought provoking and gently written.

THOUGHTFUL, INTELLIGENT--JUST WONDERFUL!
ANIMAL GRACE is a potentially life changing book. Ms. Randour approaches the topics of spirituality and the state of grace animals possess and that which can be achieved between humans and animals by not only delving deeply into the subject(s), but by addressing them from an unexpected standpoint. The standard approach is (of course) the emotional, but Ms. Randour instead makes MORE than just an emotional case, she makes an intellectual one. As a result, her arguments and points will not only touch your heart, they will (more importantly in many instances) touch your MIND. Why? Because they're LOGICAL and challenge any thinking person to stop and reconsider many things normally taken for granted. It is one thing to tug at someone's heart, but quite another to challenge someone intellectually to question their own thought process. And that is the beauty of this book, it touches the reader on so many levels: emotionally, intellectually, and finally, spiritually. Simply put: This is an amazing book, and I only wish everyone could read it. If ANIMAL GRACE does not speak to you, then I don't know if anything ever will. I was already a lover of animals and nature and believed in the spirituality of all living things before I read this book, but by the time I had finished it (less than a day after I'd started it), I had begun to question my own feelings and beliefs and have since gone from dabbling in vegetarianism, to becoming a vegetarian. Obviously, this book spoke to me very deeply, but the most amazing thing about this wonderfully written and surprisingly touching book is that it manages something few books of this kind ever do--it absolutely crushes apathy. And it manages to do so without preaching or pushing any views on the reader. Do yourself, the animals of the world, and the world itself a favor...PLEASE read this book.

The art of my name!
I was born with the name of Raistlin.. naturally i would want to see the character i was named after. This book provided me with the start to my passion with Dragon Lance.
It goes into detail and explains everything (how the dragon riders stay on the dragons etc.).
I have one copy and so does my Dad, but mine has pages missing from when he used them as posters. I want another copy but it depends how much i am willing to pay on e bay.
This book is worth getting for a price such as £50.

Enjoy.

Excellent, excellent book!
This book is worth every penny I paid to get it. It includes a short story about how the Dragonlance epic came to be, the four original color roughs (by Larry Elmore), sketches of the dragonlance and saddle and how to use it, sketches and pictures of the many types of draconians, armor and weapons, beautiful oil and acrylic pictures, a little history and pictures of the Heroes of the Lance, pictures and history of minor characters such as Lord Lorac, the elven king, and much, much more! This book is a must-have for any Dragonlance collector. You won't be disappointed!

Lavish selection of TSR's best works
This gorgeous book is one of the finest compendiums of TSR artwork ever created - it is loaded full of hundreds of illustrations, free of print, on glossy paper; included are every piece of full-color artwork ever created for Dragonlance (up through 1987), supplemented with rich text and many, many concept sketches that appear nowhere else! For Dragonlance afficionados, or those who appreciated classic art by Easley, Caldwell, Parkinson, Elmore, and more, this is the ideal collection.

A Real Charmer
At 50 I'm still the fantasy freak in the house and found this book as enchanting and enjoyable as any I've read. My wife the murder mystery consumer was totally enthralled by the tale when searching for a diversion from her regular reading. We've both read the tale more than once and have made present to one of our nephews of a hard back version of the book, that's how much we liked it. When you finish reading this book you set it down with a feeling of satisfaction, that everything wrapped up quite nicely, and wonder if there will be another to follow.

A story for all the ages... Here there bee dragons...
I have had my copy of this book for over 10 years now. My mother read it to my younger siblings and me when I was a tweenage girl. I pick it up and read it every few years and have also read it to my son. He thought it was great, too.

It's a great, old-fashioned fairytale set in today's world. Be warned - It is not an everyone gets along in the end story. The ending ends as it should with everyone getting exactly what they deserve. It makes you wish that there was a little book dragon looking over your shoulder.

I would recommend this book to adults and children alike. It has a moral message that a child as young as 4 or 5 would get but has enough levels to keep everyone entertained.

Books and Dragons--my favorite things
I found this book as an adult, but I was totally enchanted, and it became the start of my collection of dragons. This rates with Anne McCaffrey's dragons--friendly dragons. This tale is so enjoyable, yet not predictable. Moral, but not preachy. And kids will love the good guy/bad guy tension.
This is a book every child (and most adults) should have the pleasure of having in their life.

poor book with limited examples
I wanted this book to help me write automated ADO tests, it provides an introduction to VB with lots of waffle about testing and lots of articles about how to be a better tester. I wanted concrete examples of how to create automated test suites etc. If you test mostly through the GUI, this might be of some use.

Great test automation book!
Using Visual Basic, one of the most economical language platforms (in terms of cost and learning curve), Mary Sweeney guides us through the world of automated software testing. I found this book to be well documented, clearly written and easily accessible by a beginner like me. There are useful examples and tester's tips throughout the book that help me understand the key concepts. The added essays are particularly insightful for someone new to the field of software testing. This book is a great reference and a solid springboard for software testing. I highly recommended.

VB Test auto group favorite
Our Software Test Automation group found this book on the recommended site for Automation Junkies last year. We've all read it, there's about 15 of us, and have learned a great deal. The lessons are not just about software test but also about testing in general. This book is for the general programmer and isn't intended as an advanced how-to book. It's perfect for what it is, and that is a book that's points you to where to start with clear explanations and plenty of examples. We highly recommend it and agree with all of the reviews except the one from Lenexa, KS! We encourage you to read the other reviews of this book to get a good idea of its value.

Fantastic.....in a word
Great introduction to the Catholic teaching on the communion of saints. Another fantastic reminder of the beauty of the Catholic Faith. When I was younger and I had to travel, my Mother would say and don't forget you also have your Mum in heaven and all the Angels and Saints, so ask for their prayers as well. During the birthdays of Saints we found out what made them special and how they gave lived their lives for Good and for God. It has always made me feel the Church on earth and in heaven with Our Lord God as the head are one big family. Thank you Mr Madrid for putting into words why.

Dead Saints? Who needs 'em! (you do)
The Catholic Church presents and preserves a beautiful teaching about our brothers and sisters in Christ who have gone on before us in a state of grace... that we are not separated by death, that our departed loved ones can still hear us and pray for us, and that there is a real union between us.

Pat Madrid presents a very brief, yet very substantive book that examines this teaching. Covering topics that range from praying to the saints to the power of saintly relics, Madrid argues almost exclusively from the Scripture, thus making this book a valuable resource in presenting the Communion of the Saints to a bible-only Christian.

As you read this book, you will hear the objections against this teaching from both modern apologists as well as the founding fathers of the Reformation (i.e., Calvin and Luther). You will be directed to the Scriptures that support this teaching, and be invited to consider the implications of those Scriptures. You will be taken back into history to see how these teachings (prayers to saints and venerating relics) were actually practiced BEFORE the Church came into being, by the Jews who comprised the first Church.

For being such a short, digestible work, this book is dense with truth, and is recommended for daily meditation.

a great introduction
Madrid provides a needed service with this book. He addresses the following subjects: 1) What is the Communion of Saints? 2)Classical Protestant Objections 3)"Me nad Jesus" Christianity Isn't Biblical 4)The "One Mediator" Argument and Other Objections 5)Praying for the Souls in Purgatory 6)The Testamony of the Early Church 7)The Veneration of Relics 8)Statues and Images 9)Does Honoring Mary and the Saints Offend God? 10)Epilogue 11)Appendix: Council of Trent Decree Concerning the Invocation, Veneration, and Relics of Saints and Sacred Images

This book has been given to many Protestant friends and has clarified a great deal for them. It is also very useful for Eastern Orthodox Christians, with the exception of the chapter on purgatory (Orthodox have a different understanding of the matter).

Other books of interest may include: Discovering the Rich Heritage of Orthodoxy, by Bell; Lossky's, Mystical Theology of the Eastern Church; The Experience of God, by Staniloae; The Encyclopedia of Early Christianity, ed. Ferguson. For a detailed account of Icons and their usage see, The Resurrection and the Icon, by Quenot. Enjoy!
