Not woth the money
Thisw book fails on a few levels. First, the quotes picked are often short, unrelated, or contradictory, including a couple which are simply theistic. Second,Williams iserts his own little exclamatory remarks throughout the book (things like "Oh Aristotle, how lucky we were to know you!). The format has the quote from the famous luminary on the right page, and Williams words, thoughts or praise on the left. With all due respect, William's words could have been kept to an introduction, rather then half the book. Especially considering he just acts as an MC for those quoted, he doesn't add any thoughts of substance.

Were this book ($$$), I wouldn't be so harsh on it. But ($$$) for a book that's a not particularly well produced, undersized hardcover, it's ridiculous. Take the money and by the works of the contributors instead.

more illustrations would have helped this out a lot. All in all, a bit wordy.

Visual Basic 4 Network Gaming Adventure Set (Box): The Best Way to Create Your Own Multiplayer Games with VB4
Published in Paperback by The Coriolis Group (10 January, 1996)
Authors: David Allen and Coriolis Media
Amazon base price: $44.99

Ok for beginners, but there's no Client/Server chapter!
This book might be useful for the beginner, but for an intermediate VB programmer, this book is not very useful. It has some ok stuff on peer to peer networks, but there is no client/server information! Most network games these days use the client/server model. Even the authors game (Demise, formerly named Mordor II)which he wrote in VB uses a client/server model.. too bad he didnt include that type of information in the book.

Ridiculous!
I have to agree with the other review. I bought this at a bookstore, hoping to brush up on some accents. I can do a better southern accent than this guy, and I've never even lived in the south! His NY accent is hilariously bad. I'd rather rent "Shrek" than listen to his Irish monologue. The whole thing is dopey and phoney-sounding.

Awful, terrible, laughable...
If you are serious about learning dialects, do NOT buy this CD. If you think it would be fun to learn some different dialects to try and want to have a remote chance of fooling anyone, do NOT buy this CD. A high school drama student would have done a superior job. You would be better off learning dialects from the Simpsons or Saturday Night Live. This is not an exaggeration, this is a flat out warning. Don't waste your money.

Innocent Prey
This question goes for the reviewer above. Before I purchase this book, what is the information not included to make this book a true crime read. What is missing, how can I access true information without necessarily having to talk to the actual characters for whom this book is written after? Where is their website? I am intrigued of this info because of your review. Hope to read from you soon.

A true story crime buff

TRUE CRIME DOESNT NECESSARILY MEAN ITS TRUE!
TO PUT IT BLUNTLY THIS BOOK IS GARBAGE.WELL WRITTEN THOUGH IT IS THE AUTHOR HAS A TENDENCY TO PLAY AROUND WITH THE FACTS TO MUCH AN HE HAS A TENDENCY TO FOLLOW POLICE AND COURT INFORMATION TO CLOSELY.HE CLEARLY HAD OR DIDNT WANT ANY ACCESS TO MR.GORE OR MR.WATERFIED (THE ALLEGED CRIMINALS)AND THE BOOK SUFFERS FROM IT.THOUGH FREQUENTLY SUSPENSEFUL THE AUTHORS LACK OF TRUE KNOWLEDGE OF THE CASE OUTSIDE OF NEWSPAPER CLIPPINGS AND INACCURATE POLICE INFORMATION HURTS THE BOOK.BOTH MR.WATERFIELD AND MR.GORE ARE VERY OPEN ABOUT THERE CASE AND CRIMES AND HAVE BOTH DONE NUMEROUS INTERVIEWS AND CONTRIBUTED TO DOZENS OF WEBSITES.THE AUTHORS DECISION NOT TO APPROACH THEM MAKES THIS BOOK JUST ANOTHER PIECE OF TRUE CRIME FILLER.AS A BOOK IT IS WELL WRITTEN AS A FACTUAL ACCOUNT IT IS PURE RUBBISH.TOSS IT INTO THE TRASH ALONGSIDE MOST TRUE CRIME BOOKS
