The Letterman Wit: His Life and Humor
Published in Hardcover by Carroll & Graf (May, 1994)
Author: Bill Adler
Amazon base price: $14.95
Average review score:

Good for the newer fan
If you have just discovered the world of TV-Boy, grab a canned ham and a lovely beverage, and settle in for an enjoyable light read. Bill Adler has done a good job outlining the highlights of David Letterman's radio and television career. The uninitiated will also learn about Dave's personal life, including his first marraige, his relationship with co-creator of 'Late Night', Merrill Markoe, and the stalker who once camped out by his pool.

One particularly entertaining chapter is entitled, 'Dave on Dave', which contains snippets of print and television interviews spanning the course of Letterman's career.

For the seasoned fan, however, there is nothing new to be found in 'The Letterman Wit'. I would suggest you read Bill Carter's 'The Late Shift' if you are looking for information on the late night wars, 'Late Night: The Book' edited by Merrill Markoe, if you want a quirky look at the making of the show, and 'The David Letterman Story' by Caroline Latham, if you want a more indepth peak into Dave's personal life.

The Many Troubles of Andy Russell
Published in Paperback by Gulliver Books (September, 1999)
Authors: David A. Adler and Will Hillenbrand
Amazon base price: $4.95
Average review score:

Lots of trouble for Andy
Good book for children just starting with chapter books. Everytime Andy turns around it seems that he is getting into trouble, whether its his fault or not. Kids will enjoy the pranks in the classroom and may get into the deeper character of Tanisha, who lives with Andy's family while her parents recover in a rehabilitation center from an accident.

The only reason I didn't give it more stars was how the classroom was described and how the substitute teacher was written. She is new to teaching and walks in not knowing how to handle the class and gives them tasks that are outrageous for their age, yet it seems they complete all the tasks given to them and only complain.

A Picture Book of Christopher Columbus
Published in Paperback by Live Oak Media (March, 1992)
Authors: David A. Adler, Alexandra Wallner, and Linda Terheyden
Amazon base price: $37.95
Average review score:

A good beginning but Adler leaves out important details.
With great illustrations, Adler gives us the bare facts of Columbus' life, however, he leaves out the passion of the man that children can really appreciate. Furthermore, Adler "forgets" that 1 reason Columbus sailed was to find new lands but another reason was to win converts to Christ. This & other historical information is lacking in his book. I was left with more questions than answers based on this book & will be looking elsewhere for these important answers. I wish the end of the book had a "parents note" with a synopsis of Columbus' life in more detail.

Mastering Java Threads Two-Day Course

Stolen Obsolete Book
This book is course written and owned by SkillBuilders, Inc. Legal actions are pending, one publisher involved in the theft has already paid damages and we anticipate additional judgements/settlements against those who illegally use our copyrighted material.

Aside from that, the material in the book offered here was written in 1999 and earlier. Obviously there have been quite a few changes and updates since that time. Our active courses at SkillBuilders are all up to date. They would be a much better choice.

2 days not enough but a good book anyway
Although the book is very informative about threads, 2 days is not enough to understand all the concepts of multithreading. There weren't as many application or applet examples as I would have liked to see on the disk. The book does go through a few examples which let me rate this one a 3 star.

Christopher Columbus: Great Explorer (Adler, David A. First Biography.)

Authors: David A. Adler and Lyle Miller
Amazon base price: $15.95

Boring
I homeschool my children, and in order for them to grasp information, the presentation needs to be more exciting. I think there should be better illustrations in the book and I wish it was easier to read for the average child. All the historical information is there in the book. If one lacked a better book this would suffice.
