provides a respectable understanding for visual impairment
This illustrated children's book gives children an idea of how Braille was first invented. A story of Louis Braille is told, and it shows his triumphs. The book itself doesn't use braille, but a sample alphabet is given in the back to show children who have no experience with it what it's like. For educators, this book would be an asset to the elementary classroom because young children need to be informed and aware of blindness as an exceptionality.

Review of A Picture Book of Robert E. Lee
This biography explained the life of Civil War General Robert E. Lee. This book explains his life from birth and his family, to the marriage and his influence in the war. It explained how the general was the leader of the Confederacy. The book also explains the Civil War so that it is easy for the kids to understand. In the book there are also great pictures that mildly display war along with quotes ad images from that time period.
The author did a wonderful job displaying the war and allowing children to understand the concept on a very neutral level. I also liked the outline at the end of the book on his life. It helped children really visualize the order of events.
I like this book for all the above reasons also for the ease of reading. I found it so easy to understand and I think that this book will allow the children to gain interest into biographies and the war. Maybe even lead them into reading all Adler's other biographies.

Great for Elementary Students
This is an informational picture book for young students studying Sitting Bull. I would recommend the book for early elementary students learning about Plains Native Americans. The book is also well illustrated.

Review of Cam Jansen and the Baseball Mystery
This book is great for those who are just becoming independant readers. The sentences are short and the vocabulary is simple enough so it is easy for them to understand. Also the pictures correspond well to the story. The story will keep their interest, they will follow the pursuit to find the baseball, seeing how Cam uses her photographic memory to help solve the mystery. This story teaches young children how photgraphic memories work in a simple way. I liked how they used Cam, short for camera as her nickname.

A Picture Book of Passover
This book gives the history behind where Passover came from. The author writes about the story of Moses, and how his life was saved. One day a burning bush spoke to him in the words of God, and told Moses that he would be the new leader. As much as Moses pleaded for the Pharaoh to release the slaves, he declined and pushed them harder. As a reult Moses put a plague onto Egypt. These ten plagues swept through Egypt that attact various things. The Pharaoh soon let the slaves free, and sent Mmoses away. However, the Pharoah felt he had made a great mistake, and went after the slaves. Moses parted the sea for the slaves to get away from the Pharoah, and as the Pharoah proceeded across Moses commanded the sea to go back. As a result the Pharoah and his followers were killed. Tthe Israelites became a free nation. This became a celebrated holiday called Passover.us
A very nice overview
This book is a very good way to prepare a child for Passover. It starts with the story of the Exodus, beginning with Jacob's dreams, and continuing through the Israelites journey out of Egypt. It ends with a quick description of the Passover rituals and seders. This book has just the right amount of detail -- not too superficial, but not so much a child (or an adult) will not understand. I definitely need to add this to my collection of children's books of Jewish Holidays.

dont buy this software
this cd cost 250 dollars, it is a plug-in program for autocad. it creats a new toolbar for autocad users to find images. However, i find this toolbar is NOT frinedly to use and it is hard to find images, and this software can't work in autocad 2000, it just can work with the outdate autocad (r13,R14). Further, this software not ever cover different size of common doors and windows. EDITOR, your CAD-library is not powerful enough. I personally believe this software is only worth 50 dollars.
CRITICISM
I have been told that there was a review that said that there were errors in the book. This is certainly so, I should know, I am the editor! No reference book as comprehensive as this will ever be perfect. However, if you, the customer, finds one of these, please tell me. My e-mail address is David_Adler@compuserve.com. Thank you.
Excellent references for Architects, a must-have book
I found many great referenced data on designing work space for my clients' projects, and also our new office. Can't work without this one. Excellent.
Picture Book of John F Kennedy

Mr. Adler needs to do a better job checking his facts
While I think it is important for young people to have books to read about the important figures in our history, I think it is imperative that an author makes sure his facts are correct. In his book, Mr. Adler has JFK being elected to the Senate in 1952 and reelected in 1956. Yes, JFK was elected to the Senate for the first time in 1952, beating Henry Cabot Lodge, but he was not reelected in 1956. Senate terms are six years unless there are special circumstances, which there were not in this case, which means JFK would not have to run again until 1958. He did so and was elected by the largest margin in Massachusetts state history at that time. In 1956 JFK made an attempt to be the Democrat's candidate for Vice President on the ticket with Adlai Stevenson, but he was defeated in that attempt by fellow Senator Estes Kefauver of Tennessee. How can we expect our children to have their facts straight when we do not provide them with the correct information to begin with. How this mistake got past the author, editor and publisher, I do not know, but that fact that it did is [unheard of]
The Real John F. Kennedy
I really enjoyed reading this picture book. This book portrays JFK as a normal person who had real problems in his life. Dispite being one America's Great Presidents, people can see the other side of him as well. The everyday boy growing up in a big family. I learned what he did as a kid, and how sickly he was. This book even gave information about his brothers as well. The illustrations are incredible. The pictures are almost a perfect likeness of JFK and his family.

Fun, easy reading for young children or struggling readers.
Andy & Tamika is a realistic fiction trade book that is centered on the experiences of a young boy named Andy. This book includes many elements of the different types of realistic fiction such as, relationships with the nuclear family and alternative family situations, relationships with peers, relationships with animals, cultural diversity, and a slight element of suspense. In addition, periodic illustrations throughout the book provide appealing representations of the characters and settings that are involved. This book is part of a series by David A. Adler that follows The many troubles of Andy Russell and proceeds School Trouble for Andy Russell.
This book is recommended for 9-12 year old readers but would probably appeal more to the younger children in this age range and/or benefit struggling readers at the older end due to its limited vocabulary, larger font and shorter sentence structure. Since this story is part of a series, young readers who identify with the characters and like the variety of story details, would most likely enjoy reading the other books offered by this author. I liked this book for its variety of realistic fiction elements but would prefer a book with greater vocabulary and more advanced writing structure for children of its intended age.

I don't know how old I was when I first learned of the Nazi death camps; the Holocaust was an unknown word. As an adult, young children come to me asking for books about the Holocaust. I am confronted with the question, how much information to give and what form should it take? In this picture book Hiding from the Nazis, David Adler, in slightly stilted, but in unambiguous words lays out the pivotal moments of Hitler's systematic persecution and murder of the Jews in the Netherlands. This true story centers on Lore Gottschall and highlights the danger, isolation, and deep break of trust suffered by those who hid from the Nazis. This story cannot be told with out bringing to light the courage of Dutch families who bravely hid Jews from Nazi invaders. Lore is separated from her family and hidden on a farm in Holland at great peril to her protectors and shows the sacrifice her family made to survive in a personal way. Mr. Adler also shows how rocky the reunion of the Gottschall family was and shares what happened to the Danish family and the Gottschall's after World War II ended. The illustrations of Karen Ritz clearly show the story with color, facial expressions and movement.
