EXCELLENNT !
I totally thought that this was a great book! The thing that makes me keep buying them besides them being my favorite books is that she makes you want to know what will happen in the next book. Like Caitlin and David? Jesse and Melanie? and especialy Miguel and Leah?? There is no doubt that this is and excellent book and will deserve 5 stars from everyone!

ZGood
This book was very good. Jesse is so typical! I mean it, too. I understand him wanting to get revenge on Melanie for dumping him, but sheesh! Doesn't he realize everyone makes mistakes? And Melanie made one, so she's trying and trying to make everything up. She has a hard, muserable life, and it's not her fault for losing Jesse! Jesse shouldn't be so hard to get. And Jenna is so nosy! She shouldn't have told Peter--now Caitlin will be humiliated every tiome she sees Peter!

AWESOME BOOK!!!!!!!
This book is so awesome. It's not my favorite in the series but one of them. This series is absolutely wonderful and everyone should read them. These books have earned the spot where they sit in my "Tresured Books Bookcase"

Books That Changed the World

Truly Outstanding. Good for a Lifetime of Reading.
I bought this book used from a library, along with a dozen others, a decade ago without much thought of what I was buying. Wow! I ended up with a lifetime of excellent reading. I've since had this book at my bedside, off and on, for the last ten years. So much excellent information is packed into this book that you can keep coming back to it and learning the most important writings of civilization.

This book summarizes the works for you. With just a little reading you can say something like, "What Einstein's Special Theory of Relativity did was radically change our perspective of time and space, and matter and energy. He showed that all motion is relative, and that the velocity of light is independent of the motion of its source. The implications are profound. To illustrate..."

Or, "What Socrates means by his definition of love, as written in Plato's Symposium, is that love is the pursuit of the beautiful; a desire for the immortal though reproduction. This, at its highest state, is manifested in a generalized love of universal beauty - beautiful souls, thoughts, laws, institutions and the immortal afterlife."

Everyone needs to read these works, and here is a condensed way to do it. It's a small investment in your education.

This book is a great primer of the classics!
I recently had the pleasure of taking a class at Missouri Southern State College in Joplin, MO that used the Downs book as a textbook for the class! At that time, I had not read, nor even heard of many of the works Downs discussed. However, after reading his insightful summaries on these classics of political, social and economic history, I felt I owed it to myself to pick up the full length versions and devour them!

A must-read for every book lover.
I have been reading an average of 2 books a month. Yet I throw most of them away after reading. This is one of a few books I keep in my library. And it is the third time I bought it because every time someone borrow the book, I never got it back. Books That Changed The World summarizes the influences of the great books to the way we believe in things, some of which we take it for granted now. Things like the solar system, gravitational force. I hardly give a five-star to any book reviews, but this one well deserves it.

David Kopay Story
This book is of a true hero, David Kopay. What a story of courage and inspiration. If you want to be inspired, read this book. One of the best!!

well-written, gutsy and illuminating
This is David Kopay's account of growing up gay back when there were very few books or support groups to turn to, which makes it stand even taller. He describes his experience as a college and professional football player as well as being in a fraternity. I find him candid, readable and likeable. He never asked for any special favours, just the right to live his life his way and do what he knew how to do.

I'm proud that David is a fellow Husky; his name adds honour to the reputation of the University of Washington, both as a hard-nosed athlete who hit like a freight train and as a man of courage. Just about anyone could benefit from reading his book.

The Pioneer of Gay Sports Stories
Before Dan Woog's "Jocks," before "The Front Runner," before the whole genre, David Kopay rocked the homophobic world of sports by coming out and telling his story. An amazing personal journey and a great historic account, this is a must-have for your gay library. Not as sexy as you'd think, instead it's a harrowing and touching tale of the first pro football player - the first jock of the 20th century - to come out big time. We all owe this man a lot, but beyond that, this is a compelling story.

Just Say Yes (Clearwater Crossing, 17)

(All of the Clearwater Crossing books are 5-star)
These books are great! My Mom bought me #10 thinking it would be a good book for me to read, but little did she know that these books are the most addictive things I have ever read. If you haven't read them, read them!!! They are truly worth it.

This book is great...as are all the rest
Just let me begin by saying that you should definitely read these books. I am a satirical writer and originally picked one of them ("Skin Deep") up thinking that it might be something I would be able to lampoon, but instead I found myself incredibly interested in the lives of each character - in particular, Nicole Brewster and Melanie Andrews. Since then I have read every single book in the series and am currently enduring a practically unbearable wait for #20. In a word - these books are great! Oh, wait, that's four words. Oh, well.

A Terrific Read, Once Again
I have read all of the series so far, and this book reminded me of why I liked them to begin with. If you have read all of the CC books, then you'll love this one. I was dissappointed with the last couple of books because it seemed like everything was going down-hill. We hardly ever heard Miguel's, Ben's, or Jesse's perspective and it seemed like all of the characters were becoming depressed or dull. But it seems like things are finally starting to look up. But we all know that won't last too long.

The thing I like best about this book and series is that it has Christian values at its core without being preachy or unbelievable. You can relate to the characters because they go through confusing times and REAL issues just like teens today. It's so refreashing to read about things other than "boy loves girl, boy and girl break up, boy and girl get back together."

BEWARE: The only bad thing about the series is that the books are highly addictive. They end in suspenseful cliff-hangers making it almost impossible to wait for the next book to come out. I just hope the series continues a bit longer despite a couple of the characters heading off to college.

Love Hurts (Clearwater Crossing, 14)

another great book in the series
Love Hurts was a great addition to the Clearwater Crossingseries. I really enjoyed it and it brought out a lot of issues thatmake you rush to the bookstore to get the next book. Anyway, it has a bit of a cliffhanger at the end and it is definitly one of my favorites out of the series.

By far the best in the series!
Yes, this book is the best! Jenna and Peter struggle to fix their romance. Miguel becomes too attached to a sick young boy. Jesse finally swallows his pride and asks Melanie to the prom, while Nicole tries out for the cheerleading squad. To find out what happens, you'll have to read the book!

A reader with a question
Every time a new clearwater crossing book comes out, I can't help myself but wonder what it would be like to have that kind of talent. After number thirteen came out ( or all of the clearwater crossing books ) I always pretend that I am Ms. Roberts. Love Hurts was somewhat close to my version of what it would be like, but much much better. Most of the time when I wait for a new book to come out, I can't help myself but wonder what it would be like. Number fourteen is a fabulos sequel to number thirteen. I can't wait until the endding. Ms. Roberts thank - you so much for these books I really feel like they have changed my life. You have changed my life because of them, I thank - you from the bottom of my heart.

Master of Ballantrae
Published in Library Binding by Bt Bound (1999)
Authors: Robert Louis Stevenson and Emma Letley
Amazon base price: $16.10
Average review score:

Excellent book!
I read The Master of Ballantrae quite recently and I think it is an awesome book. James Durie (the Master) is such a wicked man, but seems to charm (most) everybody. He is such a round character. He torments his poor brother Henry Durie and Henry suffers in silence. Only Mr. Mackellar knows of Henry's sufferings. The Master makes the book so colorful. It's full of adventure, romance, sorrow, and revenge. I highly recommend this book, because it was so interesting and kept you wondering what would happen next. I am sure it will capture your attention as it did mine.

A Dark and Compelling Book...
I saw the Errol Flynn movie, which I found rather disappointing. I was assuming, however, that the book was a faithful adaptation of the movie. Be forewarned: it is most definitely not! This is not the kind of superficial swashbuckler you might assume. It is a dark and compelling book about the nature of evil and its manifestation in the person of James Durie, the Master of Ballantrae. The Master sets out to destroy everyone and everything he cannot control or manipulate, including (and especially)his own family. Without summarizing the book, I would offer this to anyone interested in a compelling plot, complex characters and just plain good writing. Stevenson is overlooked, and it's a shame, because he is an excellent writer, a writer in the best sense of the word. Read it and enjoy it!

The most beautiful book I have ever read
Wild Grows the Heather in Devon is thought provoking, eloquant and superbly written. I have highlighted most of the book. Many of the prayers written, I have taken as my own. Excellent intelligent reading!

Excellent - life changing!
My Heart, CHrist's Home is an excellent booklet, so easy to read and so convicting. It helped me get my focus back on track.

My Heart Christ's Home
Outstanding way to reach the new Christian. This small little booklet enables you to do a self examination of the different parts of your heart. This will help you to live a more Christ like life. Once again Outstanding!!!!!!!

A must read book for any Christian
One of the best books that I had to read for class. I would read it all over again and again. It is a must read for Christians and those who are thinking about becoming a Christian. A great use of examples of different rooms. I totally agree with the closet example.

One Real Thing

Still waters run deep
I'm a 12 year old reader from CA. I have read all the Clearwater Crossing books, and this is my favorite. The Melanie/Jesse thing is driving me nuts. Does she love him? Does he love her? At the end, I was almost screaming at Melanie for being so dense. The Ben thing was a little undeveloped, but very interesting. After all, if you don't like the person you're kissing, than the kiss is worth nothing at all. As for Melanie and Jesse, if they're ever going to have a serious relationship, they both need to acknowledgde their feelings, not deny them, and learn to trust each other. I hope this review helped you!

EXCELLENT
I thought that this book was really good. The book was so life like. Not like some books where they try to make it life like but no one can ever relate to them. This is practically a dictation of the average teens life. I loved this book and if you have enjoyed other clearwater crossing books in the past you're guarenteed to love this one.

wonderful
Yet another wonderful book for adolescents. Being thirteen, I love to read stories that reflect all of the things Ms. Roberts includes. She has a very real approach to the world, and the topics she writes about I can really relate to. This book was very good, but overall I think I'm just a huge fan of the series. Looking forward to #9, and I recommend Clearwater Crossing to everyone!

Now & Always (Clearwater Crossing, 19)
Published in Paperback by Bantam Books (14 August, 2001)
Author: Laura Peyton Roberts
Amazon base price: $4.50
Average review score:

you have to read this book!
Okay, I've been following this series since the very beginning, and I love every single word. "Now and Always" isn't too shabby, either. It tells the story of Jenna's pushiness in regards to her sister's wedding, Ben's struggle to keep his nerdy identity a secret, a moral decision Leah and Miguel have to make, and Melanie's interest in her new art teacher. I felt a little that the whole thing with Melanie was just thrown in as a filler, as if she just had to have something to do. But the best part of the book is Nicole's revelations about why she really wanted to lose all the weight and what she really wanted. I could really related to her in a lot of ways, especially the way she feels in the last couple chapters. This is the second to last in the series, so enjoy this book to its fullest.

Laura Peyton Roberts is a genius
Clearwater Crossings is the best series that I have ever read. She writes as if she is a teenager going through these problems. I read the books since I was in 6th grade and I cant get enough. And I just learned that #20 is the last book of the series. I couldn't belive it. I read the books one after another. If you are a teenager looking for a good book, read this series. The books are unbeliveable.

I Can Not Bear the Thought...
I loved number 19. But it saddens me to death that #20 will be the last book of this amazing seires. I have read every single one more that a hundred times and I feel that I know the charecters from Clearwater Crossing. But...it hurts so much to see it go... I have cried with charecters in the books and I have laughed. I have introduced friends to the amazing people from the small town in Missouri. I can not stand the fact that all of that will be gone just like that. I respect Laura Peyton Roberts decsion to stop the seires but with so many things a new that are happening...and I guess I dont understand how it all can stop so suddenly. Mrs. Roberts thank you for introducing me to the best books I have ever known. I appreciate it so much, and I feel that it really has changed my life for the greater.

Young Guinevere

Myth From the Might Have Been
This is a beautiful picture book for pre-teens rather than for really young children. It has a mythological tale of what young Queen Guinevere's life might have been like. It is well written by the talented Robert D. San Souci and is filled with symbolism and adventure and heroism. The illustrations are well done and are brightly colored like the pages in a medieval illuminated manuscript. Beautiful mythical creatures like a chimera and a unicorn and a werewolf help give this story its otherwordly feel and add to the mysterious and magical flavor we have come to know from other great Arthurian writers like Sir Thomas Malory, T.H. White, and Howard Pyle. This is a simple story that ends with foreshadowing of the world Guinevere will grow into and it makes a good introduction to this enigmatic character.

Amazingly beautiful
When I found this book, the artwork captivated me. The story is simple yet strong. I would buy this if I had a child. It is beautifully illustrated and told. Take/Borrow it and read it.

Buy the hardcover
I had to buy this book because my daughter (6) was checking it out from the library so often. It is an unusual look at Guinevere and offers a good, empowering role model for girls. We love the illustrations and have read it over and over. Unfortunately, the paperback version has not stood up to those many readings. The pages have all had to be taped back in because once one came loose, the rest followed. I don't blame the binding, it is just that a paperback cannot survive that much love.
