cute!
It's a real cute book, soooo sweet. I like it a lot. It explains why things are without having a religious touch. I wish I had read it when I was younger!

A Book for people Who Love the Woods and Wild Things
It was a joy to find this book and share it with my grandchildren. So many of their books are here-today, gone-tomorrow. This one is a keeper. The stories are original and clever, full of humor and imagination as well as real details about the animals. I was thrilled when it mentioned that skunk's eyes glow amber in the dark! I don't know why nobody before has written a story about why Mountain Lion's tail is long, but Bobcat and Lynx have short tails--but it's about time someone did! I think it's important for kids to realize that this sort of story is part of everyone's cultural heritage and they can keep the tradition alive. (Alli told me that she thinks tiger got his stripes when he was sucked up in a tornado. I didn't know what she meant until she drew me a picture of the tornado with all its cork-screw-like black lines--just like tiger!) We also loved the illustrations. I think children like realistic pictures more than adults realize. It's nice to see animals looking like themselves, not slick, commercial approximations. Beckhorn's slightly quirky style fairly glows. Her love and knowledge of the critters is obvious, as well as her sense of fun. Grammy Snapping Turtle an unforgettable old crone! I like to provide the children with good, accurate non-fiction books about nature, but I think they also need good fiction to help instill in them a love of the woods and wild things. With the exception of Jean George and Gary Paulson, that can be hard to find. As a wise man once said, "In the end, we will save what we love and understand." This book will help children fall in love with that which we must preserve. It's my hope that they will keep it to share with their own grandchildren one day.

great book to share with your kids
A sweet book in a world that seems so full of space aliens and action figures with guns. "Answers" those wonderful questions we all had as children... and that our children now ask of us. Beautiful illustrations. A pleasure to share with my kids.

She's Wonderful
Rev. Smith's book is nothing short of inspirational. It is truly a daily guide that provides a wonderful blueprint on how to strengthen and develop a personal relationship with God. By using true life examples of how people have overcome their individual hardships and difficulties and in the process discover their inner divinity, the book brings great clarity on how to incorporate these life lessons and how to use them to develop a personal and full relationship with God. It is a wonderful book and I have read and reread it several times, always discovering new messages and new insights along the way.

A Book To Bring Wholeness
This book is designed to bring into focus the reasons why we so often feel weighed down and defeated. Lent is not a frivolous time, but a time to enter into a process that will bring about real spiritual change, healing and wholeness. Through story, examples and scriptures, "From Calvary to Victory" really takes readers from a place of hurt and pain to a place of hope and healing.

The best book for teaching leadership to youngsters....
I have looked long for books that can be used to teach leadership to young people (middle school and up). Susan Fritz is an ass't prof in the department of ag leadership at Univ. Nebraska-Lincoln, and she has pulled together 17 excellent chapters about leadership, in exercises that can be used with young people. Her writing is clear, the chapters and exercises well organized, and you can use these with your classes.

This is by far the best I have seen so far. I especially liked Ch 7, Creating the Vision and Establishing Goals, and Ch 14, Responding With Empathy.

A communication-based leadership book that delivers!
As a college instructor, I have read many books similar to these--present a skill, provide an activity, etc., but then no application is given. However, this text is excellent because not only are the discussions on communication/leadership skills quite interesting & thorough, but the exercises provided are practical & ones that I will actually use when I teach. (Many similar texts have the silliest activities). But the very best part is the REFERENCES--sources cited are mostly up-to-date & always include some of the classic works in communication. This book is very impressive--practical, credible, and USEFUL!!!!

Simple innocent and brutally honest
His (very) short stories span the years he spent wandering around in Zurich,Berlin,Biel and Berne (1896-1933) when he was transferred to a mental institution with a much disputed diagnosis of Schizophrenia. Walser's prose is a stroll at the borders of the society, viewing , admiring, mocking it, and finally refusing to be a part of it. His narrations are about ordinary things but are so profound and sweetly tragic that it leaves one almost stunned. He writes small truths which he called the true truths in a very astonishing, bold way. Many a times he ends his stories abruptly leaving one wondering not only about the story but the story teller himself. He is truly a sublime writer. Recommended to those who appreciate beauty in tragedy.

Heartbreaking Dream Shorts
Walser is a magician of interiors that spiral into an incomprehensible, slightly threatening, but tenderly mysterious world. Follow his mind as it walks through his stories. Maintaining his stance of wide-eyed wonder on the margins of a world of sinister adult mediocrity which many of us strive daily to avoid (even as we're sentimentally attracted to it), he is a navigator scribbling out a map useful to all misfits and dreamers.

Beautiful and Adorable Book!
I love this book, it's so adorable and beautiful, Susan Herbert is a great artist, I admire her a lot. You see wonderful pictures of cats playing roles of some of Shakespeare plays. It's a great book for kids and also for adult too.:) If you love cats your going to love this book.

Shakespeare Cats
This is the most adorable book I have ever seen! The pictures of the cats in the different Shakespearean plays are so well drawn and the colors are wonderful. I use this book when teaching students about Shakespeare because it seems to help when they can see verses in pictures and the fact that it is cats playing the parts makes it even more enjoyable!
