A Great Work of Science Fiction
This book is the first of Mr. Williams' Hhronkan trilogy, but it can also be read on its own. The author's style is inventive and engaging. The ideas and the concepts with which the author deals are innovative. The book is about a spaceship crashing onto Mars, thus terraforming the planet. In time, life re-appears on the re-terraformed Mars and native Marsians are re-awakened. Original and Interesting...

An exciting way to learn MR imaging of the brain
This is an excellent collection of high quality MR images of the brain, each accompanied by a brief clinical history, radiologist's findings, a discussion, and a list of suggested reading. The 100 topics cover a vast area of clinical neurology, from common disorders to the uncommon and the rare. The presentation in the form of a teaching file gives the reader the opportunity to study the cases in an interactive way. As a practicing neurologist, I found going through the pages of this book an enjoyable, and of course, a profitable experience. I have no doubt that all those interested in clinical neurology, from undergraduates and postgraduates to practicing clinicians will find this book an exciting way to learn MR imaging of the brain and sharpen their clinical acumen.

Potential cartography changes from multimedia
I think the book brings a very helpful review of the cartography state of art facing new tools to represent reality. It is balanced between theory and practical examples. Finally, it shows how multimedia will impact in the way we think and construct maps.

The Natural Contract (Studies in Literature and Science)
Published in Hardcover by University of Michigan Press (1995)
Authors: Michel Serres, Elizabeth MacArthur, William Paulson, and Michael Serres
Amazon base price: $50.00

Read This Now! A Fresh Breeze From France.
I recently attended Michel Serres first anglo appearnce at Memorial University in St. John's Newfoundland. `The Natural Contract' is a way of thinking and behaving as human beings should with Nature via a Natural Contract (i.e., an extension of contracterian philosophy). The idea is so simple and affecting, the writing so beautiful and clear, that this shouts for more attention. Serres the man is beautiful and kind and his `Natural Contract' is a good antedote for much of the radicalism in environmental ethics/animal rights these days.

New Perspectives on Microsoft Visual Basic 5.0 -- Introductory

This is a nicely printed and carefully crafted tutorial.
This book is a tutorial, not a reference. Beginning programmers and experienced programmers alike will find this a useful first course in Visual Basic. A local county college uses this as the course text.

Six tutorials address six case problems. Each tutorial has two sessions requiring about one hour each. An attached CD contains sample files.

The book is part of an instructional series and is very carefully designed. Each tutorial contains a number of well-integrated components. A case problem is followed by a step-by-step, illustrated instructions. The instructions are nicely set off from accompanying comments and reference materials. Each tutorial is followed by optional problems and case studies that can extend each tutorial by another hour or two.

The book is nicely printed in three colors on heavy 8-1/2 X 11 stock that lays flat.

I have purchased four other VB study guides for my staff. This is my favorite.

You Cannot Go Wrong With This Anthology!!!
With stories like "Ferryman" (Eric Brown), "The White Stuff" (Peter F. Hamilton & Graham Joyce), and "A Night on Bare Mountain" (Graham Charnock), anthologies don't get any better than this. My only quibble is with the experimental narrative "Thirteen Views of a Cardboard City"(William Gibson) which rounds out the volume with a whimper, not a bang. Otherwise, this is Hugo & Nebula territory.

Great Read for any Libertarian and Rights Activist
This is a GREAT book. It's in-depth analysis of the USA PATRIOT Act will bring a chill to your spine with every page as you watch your Bill of Rights melt away. The further analysis of past police states will frighten you as you see the parallels being drawn in our government today.

YOU MUST READ THIS BOOK!

Excellent Research Source
If you are researching the Civil War, especially the practice of medicine and surgery during the Civil War, this is an invaluable source. This is a personal journal of a Civil War surgeon. As such it is told in his own words. The reader is regaled with day to day details of the surgeon's life.
