A Fun and Entertinaing Fantasy Elseworld
Riding on the hype and legendary "Lord of the Rings" resurgence, I was skeptical about purchasing this book, thinking that it may be a quick exploitive means to cash in on the fantasy regrowth. While this book has many of the recurring fantasy themes found else where, the contributors to this graphic novel have produced a fun, can't-put-it down comic.

The story centers around the person Robin Drake as he journeys to warn the other inhabits on "earth" of the return of the Beast, a villian the others thought had died fifteen years ago. Many of the superheros are cleverly introduced and united under the banner of saving the "world." Some heros take more proding than others, which aids in the story telling. It was interesting using Robin as the central character - considering he has always been a sidekick (even on his own, Nightwing has never really broken out of Batman's shadow).

This move gives the story more force and gives a "Frodo" of the Lord of the Rings" trilogy feel to the book, without copying the material too much. The formula also works well, so why change a genre that works so well - an unlikely hero, who saves the world.

The art is outstanding and many great artist contribute their unquie talents to provide pertinent images as the story progresses. A must for graphiic novel fans, who just want to read a good story, view some great art, and have a nice evening.

Great reference and hobbiest book!
Being an EMT and working with Law Enforcment and a licence plate enthusists, this book provide me with the ability to look up a plate to help out the local PD and also the fun of reading threw the book for my own personal intrest. It provides infrormation for Emergency Service Personel, the begining licence plate collector and the experenced. It provides you with the addresses of state DMVs where you can write to request sample plates. I would recomend this book for anyone with an intrest in licence plates. Also, no police department should be with out this book, espically one that is a big tourist city and gets alot of out of state cars and plates!

The evolution of a theory
This book focuses on Gillespie's own contributions to modern-day psychoanalytic theory of the sexual perversions. It is a remarkable chapter in the evolution and development of what is today the world's most sophisticated, if largely unknown, clinical theory of sexuality. Gillespie's outline, in several articles, of his own general theory of sexual perversions, provides an excellent background for grasping the unique concepts and language which make an understanding of the process of sexual perversion especially clear and accessible.

Unfortunately, the most visible modern application of Gillespie's seminal work is the very controversial reparative therapy for homosexuality. The leading proponent is, of course, Charles Socarides, who drew heavily on Gillespie's theoretical contributions in formulating his own unitary theory of the sexual perversions. This same proven reparative model is applied by clinicians worldwide today in the therapy of all sexual perversions. Gillespie himself, in the articles contained herein, is clearly unequivocal in specifically declaring homosexuality a sexual perversion in the clinical sense.

Homosexuality is as controversial today as discussion of heterosexuality was in Freud's day, thus barring general public acceptance of this highly effective clinical view of treatment for the sexual perversions, so is it any surprise that this fascinating tale of today's most sophisticated sex theory ranks at only about 1 million on Amazon?

Of special interest to the general reader, this identical theory of the sexual perversions is the very same one which modern psychoanalysts such as the late Robert J. Stoller have consistently applied to their studies of the sex industry.

The Logical Basis of Metaphysics (The William James Lectures, 1976)
Published in Paperback by Harvard Univ Pr (1993)
Author: Michael Dummett
Amazon base price: $26.95
Average review score:

A landmark in analytical philosophy.
Hilary Putnam describes this as "one of the true high-water marks of twentieth century philosophy", John McDowell said "this is an extraordinarily important book", and, when I was a graduate student, a philosopher described it to a class of graduate students as being perhaps the most profound work on truth-conditional theory of meaning in the twentieth century; since Wittgenstein's Tractatus Logico-Philosophicus also deals with truth-conditional theories of meaning (so I would argue, at least), that is quite a claim.
If these names - Wittgenstein, McDowell and Putnam - mean anything to you, Dummett's name should be just as familiar, and this book should need no further recommendation. If you have not heard of these people, you are probably not acquainted with analytical philosophy, one of the most influential forms of philosophy in the twentieth century. Analytical philosophers tend to approach philosophical problems by means of philosophy of language: typically, they ask about meaning. In this book, Dummett attempts to explain what a theory of meaning is, why a theory of meaning has metaphysical implications, and how theories of meaning can be evaluated. His claim is that metaphysical problems are, fundamentally, problems about what logic to adopt, and that a theory of meaning can be used to justify a logic. This work raises issues that are deep, but also highly technical, and certainly not for a novice. Don't even try to read this book unless you've spent some time studying analytical philosophy, and have decided that it interests you. But if you are seriously interested in analytical philosophy, this is a book that you really should try to read.
If you want to begin reading Dummett, this is not the best place. Its the definitive statement of his position, aimed primarily at other experts in the field. His ideas can be found in a less comprehensive but slightly more digestible form in two anthologies of his, Truth and Other Enigmas and The Seas of Language. The latter is probably slightly easier for beginners.

My Kids Loved The Lost Treasure of Captain Kidd
My kids loved this book and so did I. Lots of adventure, some history and good lessons about the dynamics of friendship and what greed can do. I'm thrilled that my kids enjoyed this book so much, and it was able to pull them away from television and into another, more engaging world.

Your search results are displayed on an easy-to-use selection pad ranked by matching characteristics. You will find the data you need to confirm your identification, along with useful illustrations. You no longer need to struggle with Bacteriology Manuals to find the answer to your unknown organism. According to the makers this software will be updated annually in order to keep it up-to-date with the various changes that are taking place in the field of microbiology.

Mammals of OK; more than just o.k.!
This is the only work dedicated in whole to mammals in and around Oklahoma and the south central plains, and as such, it is an indispensible tool for my research as a grassland ecologist. Range maps for each species and references make this worth its weight in, uh, mammals!
