The Knights of the Black Earth
The Knights of the Black Earth (Margaret Weis is a fantastic book, which I could not drop for three days. It includes Sci-fi, drama, action and much more.

It features wonderful characters, with a huge variety and even introduces old favourites from the Star of the Gaurdians series (also Margaret Weis). It is a must read.

Outstanding!
Instead of writing a detailed review, I will will just defer to my one-line summary. OUTSTANDING! You really must read the other novels in the Mag Force 7 series. And the Star of Guardians series too.

Dragons of Chaos is just like the other anthologies.
Dragons of Chaos is the same as the other anthologies in the fact that some stories are great and others are truly terrible. This collection of short stories by various authors of the Dragonlance saga has some very good stories. Knaak's Son of Huma is great and so is the Dragon's Eye. But there are others that are simply boring and make you say "I wish I skipped that one." And most of the stories take place either after or before the Chaos war, not during it. But I have to say that Roger Moore's "There is Another Shore..." is probably the best story. It tells of two men who are whisked into a parallel dimension where the Cataclysm never happened! This was an awesome story and should have been a book. It deserves 5 stars itself. So pick up this anthology if just to read Moore's great short story.

Hmm
I think Moore's story was strange, but good. It leaves you confused, and lost and wondering. Probably the worst stories were the Eyes of Chaos, the Noble Folly, and Lessons of the Land. The plots were boring.

It was exciting to find out some of the Dragonlace History.
The short stories in this book were very entertaining. They showed some of the things that I wanted to know after reading the chronicles and the legends. If anyone reads Dragonlance that wants to E-mail me go for it!!

Fantastic Book
This book was the first book from the DragonLance series and I was captivated by the stories within the book. The different stories offers something for everyone because if you do not like one story you can go to another I however, would not recommend this because they are all great stories. This book got me hooked on the series and soon after finishing it I bought 12 other volumes of DragonLance books.

Praise
I thought this book was superbly written. Unlike some of the other reviewers I liked all the stories in this book. My favorites were The Notorious Booke of Starres and Peculiar Artifact. The Booke of Starres was just superbly written, and the peculiar artifact is one of the few stories that shows a kender as something other than a fool or comic relief.

great book
this was an excellent boo

Well....
I have to give all the short story novels 3 stars. There are some stories you won't like but they'll 2-4 really great ones that will make the books worth the price.

PLEASANTLY SURPRISED!
... I actually liked three stories in this book. The poem is worthless, and a few more were downright too hard to read and boring, but if I had the desire to stick with them they might have been worthy. Get this book! If not for the stories, get it for the last story written by Weis and Hickman. You will be surprised that a Hero of the Lance makes an appearance! I can't wait to read the next book. Even though the poem in this was horrible, it was better than most early dragonlance books I have read, but I must say Knaak finally has a good story. Unlike his Huma and Kaz books. Bravo Knaak. Maybe he should always write short stories, but he did leave me wanting more for once. GET THIS BOOK!

Most stories good, a couple disappointing
As I am not a huge fan of short stories, I was surprised to find most of these excellent. 'Colors of Belief' was an further insight as to how the Games of Istar worked after Caramon's experiences in the Legends. 'Kender Stew' was very funny and a nice little story. 'The Goblin's Wish' was my favourite, a saddening tale of how different races banded together to fight Istar. 'The Three Lives of Horgan Oxthrall' was not so good. The scribe's narration is just silly, I think Douglas Niles could've just told the story and got on with it. Far and away the worst story was 'Filling the Empty Places'. I find myself being more and more disappointed by Nancy Berberick's work. Stormblade was okay, but her writing style has definitely gone downhill since. 'Off Day' was hilarious. And finally, 'The Silken Threads' again showcased Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman's wonderful talent which puts them at the forefront of the DL world.
Those disappointed by the other Tales books will find this a better one, with more information into a neglected part of Krynn's history.

boring
This book is really boring. I think it is to hard to understand

Mag Force 7 wins!
The Knights of Black Earth, takes you back to the Universe of the "Star of the Guardians" series also by Hickman. This novel focuses on Xris, the part man, part robot mercenary. Xris has formed a new mercenary group called Mag Force 7. Also found in this group are the Loti Raoul, and the engimatic Little One.

Xris has found his long lost partner back in the days when he was a federal agent. Xris has a few questions for his partner regarding his last failed mission as a federal agent. However, to get to this partner will be deadly, and cause total chaos to the universe!

Another great, captivating mix of sci-fi and magic Must read!
This book is another great one in the Mag Force 7! Mixing science fiction and magic and plot twists and humor and mystery, Margaret Weis comes up with a fun to read book! The characters are detailed and have their own troubles and triumphs which make them seem like real people. The fights between good and evil are balanced by both sides winning and losing sometimes. This book got me hooked on her other series'. Overall this book is A1, numero uno, first, cream of the crop and if you think this book was great, wait till you read her other books!

A Dragon Lover's Treasury

Good, but repetitve
Some of the stories are quite similar to others. Of course, they all have to do with dragons, but several fall in the Hero goes to slay Dragon formula. The Orson Scott Card does not seem to fit in the traditional dragon formula and is the outstanding story. The Anne MaCaffrey is good but overwritten at points. I expected more from the Zelazny. It was very good, but Zelazny has done such mind-blowing work that this seems to be a bit trite. The Friesner is hillarious and the best of the funny stories in this book. The Martin and Tilton are quite good, but not estradordinary. The rest were merely okay, except for The Ever-After which had horrid prose.

Good book
This was a fairly good book. It gave a lot of information that someone might use while reading any of Anne McCaffrey's books. I liked this book because of that. Anyone who likes dragons could use this book.

THE WORLD'S GREATEST COLLECTION OF SHORT STORIES EVER!!
I LOVED this book! I've never in my life read stories of this calliber!I couldn't put this book down.It was delightful from cover to cover.I highly recommend this book to anyone who has fallen in love with the world of dragons.

huh?
yes, 2 stars, and i'm being too generous also.. that'll teach me to buy everything with a dragon on it, in the future. something like 90% of the stories are too damn laaaaame.
it's that boring and uninspired. try the 'doom brigade' instead. or any other dragonlance book! this one only has a nice cover. and not that nice when i got to take a closer look at it. my dragons are nicer :P hehe... next!

Great stories, Horrible Stories
Some of the stories were stupendous, but some of the other stories were just depressingly boring. If your a diehard dler and a dragonlover go for it other wise hold off.

Getting to Know the Dragons
Here's a collection of Dragon stories. Some very good, some just so-so. Interesting pieces include "The Final Touch", "The Best", "Kaz and the Dragon's Children", "Dragon Breath", "The Middle of Nowhere." "The First Dragonarmy Bridge..." introduces us to the pitiful draconian brigade whom one will meet in greater detail in "The Doom Brigade". Some of the stories end abruptly ("Into the Light" is one) while I find "Honor..." a bit tiresome to read. The rest of the stories are worth reading. All in all, this is a good book to get acquainted with the most popular and most awesome creatures in Krynn - dragons.

Ack!
I adore and venerate the Dragonlance Chronicles and Legends. I think the Rose of the Prophet and Deathgate Cycle are incredible. SO WHAT WENT WRONG HERE?!? For whatever reason, with this book Weis & Hickman seem to have lost pretty much everything that made them great. The characters are bland, the story is non-compelling, and I can't say I found this particular universe to be particularly intriguing. It really seems like they're flailing around trying to regain their former splendor here; we have another Fizban character; that was cool in the Deathgate Cycle, but it just seems like a desperate attempt to breathe life into a fairly useless book to me. How this happened, I cannot imagine. Let's hope that future projects redeem these talented authors.

Excellent plot/characters etc. But unrealistic basis
I have read many sci fi books in my time but few were as beutifully orchestrated and fully satisfying. Though I enjoyed the book(s) the whole thing rests on the basis of two different and totally unreasonable facts that being the synths and the fact that physics is different all over. The physics thing I'm willing to swallow but a synth works by going backwards to the beginning of its life in order to process a question? WHAT!!

Starshield Novel
This was an excelent book, Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman lived up to their reputation. It starts off a little slow, like many new series but quickly picks up and is a page turner.

Well....
I have to give all the short story novels 3 stars. There are some stories you won't like but they'll 2-4 really great ones that will make the books worth the price.

Well what can you really expect?
The Magin of Krynn is a compilation of short stories 10-40 pages long by variouse ameteur authers that help develope the Dragonlance universe. As the title suggests, the common theme throughout the book is the use of magic for good or evil yet each story is unique it's own way. In my opinion, The Magic of Krynn is truly an *ameteur* work. The writing is second rate and the styles just don't compare to that of Marget Weis and Tracy Hickman. Yet these writers have great immaginations and really have some nice imput into the fantasy genre. The Magic of Krynn is a good book to have around the house when you just need a quick shot of Dragonlance action, but for the seriouse fantasy reader, it is nothing great at all.

One of the better ones.
I found this book quite good. It is filled with a compilation of short stories written by come of the more well known Dragonlance authors. All of them are pretty good, like Palin's test, depicted on the cover. This is a must read for anyone into the dragonlance saga.
