Keeps the Series Intense
In this novel, the struggle for power continues between Maigrey, Derek Sagan, and Dion Starfire. However, a new, deadly opponent comes to the surface. The new opponent is going to try to tear apart the Guardians and Dion. However, Maigrey and Sagan have a few tricks up their sleeves! This novel continues right where the first one ended. It is fast paced and highly enjoyable.

Awsome fantasy fiction!!
This was the best book I have ever read!!I'm currently looking for the 5th book, but I can't find it!What I really want to do is buy the whole series together.I need to know: how many books are in the whole series, if she's written them all, and where could I but them?If you know, email me at LanenKae@a0l.com

unusual in the intensity of charactization . . .
The characters are what make this story one of the best I have ever read. Maigrey, Tusk, and Sagan are some of the most powerful characters I have ever found. Weis excells in constructing an immediate sense of the situations in King's Test. The politician Robes is a villian everyone loves to hate. Especially fascinating is the history of the galaxy that precedes the story. Unusually, Weis seems to have three or four main characters, instead of one. Dion Starfire would qualify as the central figure, but the others are so powerfully written that they almost seem to take over the book. References to Milton, Plato, Dickens enrich an already thought-provoking work. After Lost King, I couldn't sleep until I had read the other three books. I would suggest this book to anyone with an interest in futuristics, or for anyone just looking for a great read.

My queen... Its your move.
Absouloutly the greatest three novels of a fantasic series. I could go on and on but why? If you havent read these books, read the first series then come back and prepare to be transported back to an amazing place.

The books where, as in Raist's words, more than perfect.
Where do I start on how awesome the books where? Not only where they bueatifully written(better than Astinius himself; please don't let him read this!:-) ), they where totally packed full of action adventure and that lovavable kender Tasselhoff! ( For those totally dragonlance illiterate; let me update you on all characters, Raist is the dark mage whose soul was forged during a test of power for becoming a mage, Astinius is the scribe of the gods, some believe him to be the god of the book, gilean himself, and tasselhoff is a kender who actually has a concious!!(thats amazing, seeing as how all kender think they do not have to go by the laws other people do!))

Anyways, Goldmoon's supposed death in the gully dawrfs' lands was a bitter event that changed the rag-tag team of heroes forever. The one good thing about this happening was that she became a true cleric of Mishkal, goodess of healing.(okay, okay, your going to have to read to find out what I mean if you don't alredy know.)

The teaching of Tika and how to use a sword was totally hillarious, especially when she managed to save herself from goblins or something by accident(snicker, snicker) (Could you imagine the look on old sturms face?!! ;-) ) Well I could go on and on (as a said before, like tasselhoff) but you probably have a life(and what computer lover wouldn't?) so I'll shut up now before Flint's ghost comes after me with a hammer or something(IEEEEK!!;Scary thought!)

So as in the famous words of raist "we shall meet again."

Thus does the saga continue.

The War of the Lance has ended. The world has become peaceful again. Or has it??

The Arch-Mage Raistlin Majere, Master of the Tower of Palanthas, Master of the Past and Present, seeks more power. Through his Art, he intends to challenge the gods.

The Priestess Crysania seeks to stop him, but in her attempts, she begins to become drawn to him, the light of her goodness blinding her from the truth.

The Warrior Caramon, once a great hero, now turned the town drunk. After the war, without his brother, Caramon felt un-needed. When his wife kicks him from his house, he goes on a journey of looking. Intending just to find Crysania and then follow her for a while, Caramon is over his head as he and the happy-go-lucky kender, Tasslehoff Burrfoot, are thrust through time in a mission to "save a soul, nothing more. Nothing less."

Tasselhoff Burrfoot, the little, curious kender, joins his friend Caramon in Caramon's travels, and by entering a time traveling spell, he enables time to be changed.

And thus, Raistlin takes the place of the great mage Fistandantilus, he goes on with his twin, in the place of the General, Pheragas, to fight the Dwarf Gate Wars and gain enterance to the portal to the Abyss. With the entrance of the kender, Tasslehoff, into the river of time, the original outcome of the past can be altered completely.

Winter Night
This book is an adeptation of the last half of Dragons of Winter Night. It is a very thick comic book that was written in 1985 after the original chronicles came out. I have only books 1,2,3, and 4 and all of them are pretty acurate in there interpretation of the original.

worth reading
i havent read it yet but i have a feeling that this will be an excellent novel

I've never heard of this
I have almost 80 DL novrls and Ive never heard of thes

The One and Only
Dragonlance Adventures (DLA), by Tracy Hickman and Margaret Weis, is "the AD&D game source book for continuing adventures in the world of Krynn." It was published in hardcover in 1987 (later followed by Darksword Adventures, Greyhawk Adventures, Forgotten Realms Adventures, and others) and has not been revised or reprinted since. While it does have its own errors (the timeline, in particular, is considered erroneous), many fans feel it captured the essence and flavor of Dragonlance. DLA is a great resource, so if you find a copy, snatch it up quickly.

Margaret Weis writes: "DL Adventures expressed the DL team's vision of the world, a vision we want to try to recreate with our work at Sovereign Press. I will state here, without apology, that DL Adventures will be taken as the foundation for all things Dragonlance with certain exceptions where applicable (such as the flawed time line)."

DLA provides an overview of the world of Krynn and its history, with a focus on how to run an AD&D campaign in Ansalon set after the War of the Lance. These are some of the main sections in DLA:

"Lot in Life" -- Classes specific to Dragonlance: Knights of Solamnia, Tinkers, Wizards of High Sorcery, and Holy Orders of the Stars (includes information on the 21 gods);

"The Races of Krynn" -- Information on the Krynn-specific PC races and subraces: Kender, Gnomes, Elves, Dwarves (and Gully Dwarves), Irda, and Minotaurs.

"Creatures of Krynn" -- Monsters unique to Dragonlance, including Draconians and Krynn Dragons.

"The World that Was" -- Information on Krynn Pre-Cataclius, including a Map of Ansalon, a timeline, NPCs, and ancient magical items: Dragonlance, Device of Time Journeying, Staff of Magius, Hammer of Kharas, Bloodstone of Fistandantilus, Orb of Dragonkind, etc.

"War of the Lance" -- Information on Krynn Alt-Cataclius, including a Map of Ansalon, a timeline, political conditions, climate, NPCs and PCs of the Legends Trilogy (post-War of the Lance).

Fantasy in its best form
The Dragonlance setting is strongly based on the classic Good vs. Evil. The book is excellent, as it covers the history of Krynn since its creation to the war that nearly destroyed it. Complete description of deities, NPCs, new races and classes that are very fun to play. Also included are some cards I never figured out, but I have fun anyway. This world promises the most epic campaigns if you are to really role-play, not just hack ns slash. I strongly recommend it. If you are going to buy it, acquire also the novels from this setting. They should really add to your campaign.

The best adventure book for AD&D ever!
It has everything you need to get started in the Dragonlance world, (besides tales of the lance). I would reccomend this book to any and all AD&D players and DM's.

The book is really wonderful!
I've already read the original chronicles and I noticed some differences, but this book is still great! The illustrations are wonderfully drawn and it really gets the point across. I highly recommend this book to all!

AWESOME BOOK! GREAT INTERPRETATION!
This was one of the first dragonlance books I read and it was one of the real motivators for me to read the entire saga. The illustration and interpretations of the Chronicles novels is astounding and something that should be seen by all!

These women won't give up!
They are all different. But they have one thing in common. They are brave and strong. They are willing to fight and to do what must be done. This book is one every fantasy lover should read!

Buy this book!
I bought this book on impulse and found it much better than I expected. The poem about fighting breast cancer (called "Sacrifices") is worth the price of the book alone. I found the first story, "Emrys" a bit too negative and intense, but there is an excellent variety of other stories in this 326 page volume. "Shadow", a story that contains more than a fair share of suffering, has a sparkling surprise twist ending. My favorite story is "Three Choices: The Story of Lozen". This is a historical fictional account of the historically FACTUAL life of the Apache warrior/medicine woman, Lozen, who fought with Geronimo's band. Regardless of your taste in women warriors, and women winners, there is something for everyone in this book.

The art of my name!
I was born with the name of Raistlin.. naturally i would want to see the character i was named after. This book provided me with the start to my passion with Dragon Lance.
It goes into detail and explains everything (how the dragon riders stay on the dragons etc.).
I have one copy and so does my Dad, but mine has pages missing from when he used them as posters. I want another copy but it depends how much i am willing to pay on e bay.
This book is worth getting for a price such as £50.

Enjoy.

Excellent, excellent book!
This book is worth every penny I paid to get it. It includes a short story about how the Dragonlance epic came to be, the four original color roughs (by Larry Elmore), sketches of the dragonlance and saddle and how to use it, sketches and pictures of the many types of draconians, armor and weapons, beautiful oil and acrylic pictures, a little history and pictures of the Heroes of the Lance, pictures and history of minor characters such as Lord Lorac, the elven king, and much, much more! This book is a must-have for any Dragonlance collector. You won't be disappointed!

Lavish selection of TSR's best works
This gorgeous book is one of the finest compendiums of TSR artwork ever created - it is loaded full of hundreds of illustrations, free of print, on glossy paper; included are every piece of full-color artwork ever created for Dragonlance (up through 1987), supplemented with rich text and many, many concept sketches that appear nowhere else! For Dragonlance afficionados, or those who appreciated classic art by Easley, Caldwell, Parkinson, Elmore, and more, this is the ideal collection.

King' Sacrafice will move you!
King's Sacrafice takes us back to the galaxy with Dion, Sagan and Maigrey. This novel picks up right where the prequel lets off......it is high paced, and leaves you on the edge of your seat. Scenes with Abdiel are very intense, and entertaining. I loved this novel due to the influx of new intriguing characters. See who will finally control the galaxy! Will it be Dion? Or Sagan? Or Maigrey? Or a combination of all three?

One of the best books I have read
I am not a usual fantasy or sci-fi reader, but a friend convinced me to read The Star of the Guardians series. In fact, the only fantasy I had read before this were The Lord of the Rings. I became addicted to The Star of the Guardians as soon as I picked them up! King's Sacrifice stuck out in my mind as the best one in the series though (I cried more than I did in Gone With the Wind and The Man in the Iron Mask(the book) combined). The best part about this book was the inexorable destinies of Lady Maigrey and Lord Sagan, and their romantic interactions with one another. Now don't get me wrong! It isn't all mush, it is very quick-paced! The mush just got to me the most. The only thing about this book is that the writing is good, but not excellent like Ray Bradbury or Margaret Atwood...in other words, it's not what you might call a contemporary classic. From a well read person, I think you would like it.

The second book in the seires continue to explore the great desert and revels some of the horrofing secrets that lies in it's sends. After readin this one you'll look for the next one without rest. To some it I'll just say , another great piece from the Weis&Hickman industrey

Best in the trilogy
Too bad this book is currently out of print.. I bought a used copy after reading the first. This is a great book, don't miss it. I especially like Pukah's role in this as he finally triumphs over himself :) Anyway, I recommend reading the Darksword trilogy and especially 'The Death Gate Cycle' by these same authors.

oh goodness it was good!
Wow! I don't know what else to say...it was funny and sad and deep and just as good as the first in the trilogy!!!!!

Into the heart of story . . .
This is a work of both high and low fantasy, marking the beginning of a remarkable 6-book tale (the Chronicles Trilogy, followed by the even more magnificent Legends Trilogy), which greatly increased the interest in the Dungeons & Dragons game throughout the 1980's. (And here in 2001, it's still being read . . .) It certainly does contain more than a few stock fantasy elements (e.g. dragons, elves, dwarves, an unlikely group of friends somehow being chosen to stop the conquest of Evil . . .). However, the straightforward, simple way in which the tale is told and (even more so) the distinct, "real" nature of (most of) its characters set it apart from the paperback fantasy pack.

(Another wonderful aspect of the trilogy is the title sequence: autumn twilight, winter night, spring dawning. Why? Because this is the timeless pattern of fantasy tales: the strengthening of Evil compels weakened and bickering good forces to unite and strengthen, to become Good so that the glory of life may continue--weakness to death to resurrection, as with each turning year, as with us . . .)

Who can forget the irrepresible Tasslehoff, the conflicted Tanis Half-Elven, or the cynical, amibitious Raistlin as they strive to carry word of the ancient, true gods to a war-torn land? Some of the other companions (particularly Sturm and Riverwind) are a little bland in comparison, and the comic relief with the gully dwarves and the magician Fizban is sometimes too modern-feeling and cute (like the ewoks in Return of the Jedi).

Nonetheless, this series is worthwhile reading for the fantasy fan, often resounding with the true voice of a legend (greatly assisted by splendid songs and poetry throughout), leading onward into the heart of story (as one of the poems proclaims).

Yet Another Review (Positive of Course)
This is _the_ book that spawned a saga of over 80 books to date. Being a New York Times Bestseller, the quality of the book should be self-explanatory.

The story is set in a world of Krynn, a somewhat peaceful world with magic. As the story progresses, it becomes apparent that an evil force is stirring up in the northern lands. The people believe gods are gone, and now worship a new set of gods. Anyway, enough of the intro.. you'll enjoy much more when you read the book yourself.

The characters are very well developed. All the characters have a detailed past, which explain why they act that way towards the other characters. While they never seem to completely get along, they always work things out.

This fantasy novel is not just killing and fighting against evil. There is humor, sadness, and romance. The humor comes from the kender (an annoying race) named Tasslehoff Burrfoot, who always finds the fun part of an otherwise very frightening or dangerous scene. A magician you'll meet later on in the book also provides good comic relief.

The authors, Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman, have created a great world for more than enough room for the storyline to progress and expand. The history is rich, and evil is abundant.

This book is the first in a trilogy that started it all. If you are a fantasy reader, you can relate the quality of this book to the likes of Philip Pullman, Terry Goodkind, Robert Jordan, and of course, J.R.R. Tolkien. If you aren't a fantasy reader, this can be an excellent book to start with. If you want more, go ahead - there's over 80 books in the saga, with at least seven of them from Weis & Hickman.

Now I can Say I've had a Dragonlance experience! I want More
I have to admit I was a little reluctant to read this book.
I've had a little prejudice toward books based on gaming but now after reading this masterpiece, I'm hooked on dragonlance!Weis and Hickman have successfully transported me to the world of Krynn. When I first started the book, I thought this would be quick undemanding tolkenish fantasy read with your humans, dwarves and elves battling against evil.I was wrong! Weis and Hickman's novel, Dragons of Autumn Twilight is more complex than that. You have a diverse group of friends: Tanis-the noble half elf/half human who is a great leader and who is torn between two women: warrior maiden, Kitiara and elfwoman, Laurana.
Sturm Brightblade-the knight of Solamnia who seeks to bring back honor to knighthood.Flint Fireforge, the gruff but lovable dwarf.
Caramon-the giant warrior with the heart of gold.Tasslehoff Burrfoot-the comical kender and last but not least, Raistlin.
Caramon's dark twin brother who is powerful but secretive mage. These heroes come together in what they thought would be a peaceful homecoming but instead they meet up chieftain's daughter, Goldmoon and her lover Riverwind.Goldmoon carries a powerful blue crystal staff with awesome magical powers. These heroes soon find themselves battling sinister draconian soldiers and terrifying dragons to save their homeland from a invasion from evil minions of the queen of darkness! The authors have created a stirring saga of loyality of friendship. The passion of true love and passionate fight against evil. The world building skills are considerable as you get a history lesson of this beautiful but troubled world.A the complexity of characterizations are outstanding.Characters like Raistlin, the dark mage who quiet and who seeks power through spells even after his obession destroys his body and distances himself from his friends and Tanis a quiet but effective leader who can lead his friends into battle but cannot make decisions of the heart. This novel also has scenes of fierce battles, witty bantering between tass and Flint and touching romance between Goldmoon and Rivewind.A unforgettable saga of adventure awaits you in this book so turn the first page and be enthralled!
