If you like fantasy art you HAVE to find this book!
I was bought this book probably back in 1984/5 by my father, when fantasy art was in it's heyday. It might not be the newest of titles but artwork like this just does not age. It's a very glossy book that does contain mostly pictures with a little narration. Rodney Matthews covers all aspects of fantasy art from breathtaking landscapes, creatures, warriors, apocolypse worlds and one or two amazing full on battle scenes. Over the years I've tried to recreate his pictures over and over. Any serious fantasy fan should have this on their bookshelf. If you can get it then do yourself a favour and GET IT!

I know this Napoli
My wife is stationed here in Naploi, so naturally we are always looking at guides and suffing the net for sights to see. I checked this book out of the library here and could not believe the photography, this artist has captured the essence of Napoli. And the descriptions of Napoli are so true, I couldn't have presented the city any better. Although the city is dirty, overcrowded, and with criminal element, it is a wonderful opportunity to be here, the people are very spirited and extroverted, the food is tremendous, and there is a lot to see and do here. If you can not come and see for yourself, this book is the next best thing. I highly recommend this guide and I'll be looking for other Insight Guides for our travels.

Super Book on Rocks and Minerals
This book is an excellent resource for teaching children the fundamental principles governing rocks and minerals. Topics are clearly and simply explained with superb photographs. Some topics included are: crystal shapes; igneous rocks; moving plates; identifying minerals; erosion; what soil is made of; making fossils; rocks in space. The book also contains a number of terrific and fun experiments that are well thought out and easy to duplicate. These experiments give children excellent hands-on understanding of the growth and properties of rocks and minerals. The materials needed for the experiments are readily available. Some of the experiments include: testing for hardness; making a goniometer; making glass and bubbles; making conglomerate rocks.

I highly recommend this book to parents who are homeschooling their children as well as to parents who wish to offer more information to schoolchildren who are interested in this subject.

Kabbalah Decoded
Published in Paperback by Gerald Duckworth & Co. Ltd ()
Author: Rodney Dale

A must buy for kabbalists
The Kabbalah Decoded is an excellent, direct translation of the books that make up the Hebrew "Zohar".

A word of warning is required: you will have to "work around" the author's insistence that the Tree of Life was a "manna machine" left for the Israelites by extraterrestrials.

This will be easy to do, however, because unlike most translations of the Zohar, the author's commentary is seperated from his translation. Also, unlike MacGregor-Mather's and other translations, the Kabbalah Decoded is an accurate, direct translation word for word. This enables you to come to your own conclusions and develop your own study from this very important book.

from uncertainty to awe, gradually
Like all of Rodney's books, it took me quite a while to lock into the rhythms of his poems. Condense and complex, his writing is almost always hard for me to get into. Many times I've given up, disappointed and convinced that I wouldn't read him again.

But, like always, I'd go back later--usually a month or two--and they would simply click into place, stunning me and re-affirming my faith in his quirky, haunting, and wholly unique vision. "Kingdom of the Instant" is my favorite collection of his more recent books. His range of topics is characteristically broad--from music to sex, from death to misanthropy--and his love and mastery of the language seem fresher than ever. I know several ex-fans of Rodney's who claim he's gotten boring and too academic over the years. I couldn't disagree more. His work may lack some of the verve and immediacy of his earlier frenetic poetry--like "The Unborn," or "Transparent Gestures"--but it shows a yearning for a deeper understanding of the universe and its workings.

"Kingdom of the Instant" will be one of those rare books that I will be able to pick up from time to time (for many years to come) and still have my breath taken away from some new angle, some new insight, I'm sure to find within.

This book is exceptional
I bought this book a long time ago. I have yet to tire from it. Rodney Matthews is one of the best Fantasy artists around, and has also done work for musicians as well as magazenes and books. The work this book hold vary from people like Sir Arthur Conan Doile, H.G. Wells, J.R.R. Tolken, and many many more. It's too bad it's out of print, or I would recomend it to anyone vaguly intrested in Fantasy art.

Insightful and Capitvating - A friendship beyond friendship
I recently read this charming and enchanting book, "Letters to Carla" by Rodney Bohen. What a sheer delightful new approach to writing! This rare and unique style portrays one man's desire to artfully paint his words, as an artist splashes colors to canvas. I adored reading every letter with a newness, and enjoyed his intermittently laced humor.

I would heartily recommend this book to all readers who enjoy honesty and truth; sprinkled with love and nostaglic rememberance. What a magnificient story!
