A must have for corgi lovers
Thought this was an extremely amusing book. She's got the corgi nature down pat. Have read it several times and think the artwork and story are great. It's sitting on my living room coffee table at this moment.

The Corgis are back and are as fine as ever.
How nice to have the residents of Corgiville back including Caleb, a fabulous rooster, and a clever crow. They are joined by some wily raccoons to bring a delightful story to us all.

Fabulous book - sophisticated and lively
This is a superb children's book. The artwork and the test are engaging and full of details. Young readers will be fascinated by it many times over. Well worth the price!

MISLEADING...NOT REALLY TASHA TUDOR'S DOLLHOUSE
I am surprised to find out that Tasha Tudor's dollhouse is not pictured in the book, but the title leads us to believe we will see the "real" thing. My understanding was that the balnk pages were to have been drawings by Tasha Tudor. Did she refuse to do the drawings because she didn't approve of the book? So aside from the furnishings being from Tasha, the book is misleading. I would rather see Tasha Tudor's real dollhouse not a newly made replica. I was disappointed with this book, especially knowing that Tasha did not want it published.

Beautiful book-illustrations are superb
This inspiring book provides readers a colorful look at the holiday season at the home of renowned artist Tasha Tudor. Accompanying Harry Davis' kaleidoscopic descriptions is illustrations and photographs by Jay Paul. The book is well designed and depicts a wide range of Christmas activities centering on how Ms. Tudor and friends celebrate the season of joy. This is a wonderful gift for individuals who enjoy the art of Tasha Tudor as Mr. Davis and Mr. Paul pay homage to the great artist.

A Rare Woman, A Rare Work of Art
I saw this book in a store in Vermont while on vacation. I knew I wanted it. I have always been a fan of Tasha Tudor, even before I realized I grew up a couple of miles from her Vermont home. This book shows another side of her many talents and keeps alive the past for those to come.

Review of "Take Joy"
This book is about all things Christmas. Here you will come across thoughts, stories, poems, carols and legends related to this celebration. As a matter of fact, this is how the chapters of the book are organized plus an ending section on Tasha Tudor's unique perspective on this traditional holiday. This last section covers the whole gamut, ranging from cookies to marionettes.

I think that anyone wishing to enhance his or her Christmas experience will find this book interesting. The stories are from sources such as Saint Luke and O. Henry. The carols have the scores and the lyrics. The final chapter describes stuff like the gingerbread castle and the birds' Christmas. It seems to me all of this will factor in making Christmas even more fun, specially for the children.

Take Joy: the ultimate Christmas feel good book
I`ve treasured this Tudor classic since about the age of 8. Its charming and informative melange of colorful artwork, stories by the likes of Dickens and Hans Christian Anderson, and Tudor`s account of her family`s traditional holiday celebration make it a tome that adults as well as children can enjoy. In fact, you don`t fully appreciate the detailed art work [such as a rabbit or mouse tucked carefully into the swirl of a letter] until adulthood. The section on Christmas customs helped to make me a lifelong folklore enthusiast. I think it will be equally enjoyed by lovers of Christmas, animals, and quality illustration.

around the year
i could not find any magic in this book. the style is the same but the pictures and colors are just not magical. i hope it is the printers fault. i was also not happy with the amount of information in book. prehaps you should describe these books better. this is the 5th. tasha tudor that i have bought from you and the first i have not liked.

one of Tasha Tudor's best books is available again!
Around The Year was originally published in 1957, and is generally regarded as one of the author/illustrator's finest endeavors in picture-book form. Tudor has penned appropriate short verses to accompany four pages of delicately-detailed scenes for each month, two done in watercolor and two in pencil.

Miss Tudor is famous for her sensitive and accurate depictions of rural scenes of the past. I consider this book to be the pinnacle of her successful efforts in bringing the loveliness of by-gone days to the present-day young reader. Commonplace events such as running home during a springtime shower and ice-skating on a pond are given as much attention by the artist as are holiday-times and other special moments. Tudor's portrayal of children carving jack-o'lanterns for Halloween and the setting-off of firecrackers on America's Independence Day are quite memorable.

On each page, there is much to be shared between any adult and child reading the book together. The Thanksgiving scenes are particularly evocative (and timely) for the start of meaningful discussions between parents and children. Tudor's observant eye gathers the flora and fauna of New England and delivers them to the observer in a delightful, but natural manner. Throughout the pages, there is a charming lightheartedness and gentleness rare in today's children's books. The careful reader will also find moments of unexpected humor. I highly recommend this book for both its content and delivery to readers of all ages.

That said, I am livid with the publisher's decision to replace what I consider Tudor's finest dust-jacket design with a repeat of an image from the month of April--even though it's arguably the finest single composition presented in the book. The original painting of 12 miniature portraits featuring monthly activities (in a clockface pattern) coupled with a seasonal bird portrait in each corner is a tour-de-force in composition. It hints at the precious jewels to be found inside the book's covers, yet stands alone as a memorable work in itself.

To make matters worse, the original title-page featuring another twelve individual bird portraits each surrounded by Tudor's distinctive twig frames has also been discarded. The new reader is also denied the enjoyment provided by Tudor's clever embellishments of the book's title, including an inchworm wending its way along the top of a letter.

There is an unfortunate lack of faithfulness to both the clarity of line and intensity of color that were so notable in the book's early printings; this happens all too often in the modern world of children's-book publishing. Hopefully, the printer and the publisher will work together to rectify these failings for subsequent printings.

Even with these faults, this book is a visual feast for both those who already do, and those who will now learn to, appreciate the value and importance of America's past rural life. Moreover, it is an enduring testimony of Tasha Tudor's distinguished contributions to the world of children's literature .

Around the Year by Tasha Tudor
Around the Year by Tasha Tudor is a splendid peek into the simply wholesome traditions of a New England farm family throughout the year. Tudor's pictures are darling. My children love it. I'd recomend this book to anyone with children, anyone who needs to teach children about the monthes and seasons of the year, or anyone who just loves a really good poetic picture book. Enjoy! We did.

A Better Book Exists
How can the jacket flap state that this book is to be the seminal book on Tashas's life and work when such a work already exists in the fine bibliography book, a work of true scholarship entitled Tasha Tudor, The Direction of Her Dreams by John and Jill Hare.

The Davis book is a disappointment with many illustrations taken from her newer books and works . I had hoped to see as yet unpublished works of Tasha's art from the past.....old Christmas cards etc....

Delightful and Insightful
Having been a fan of Tudor's work since I was a small child, I was delighted to find this book and read it cover to cover in just one day.

I found Mr. Davis's relationship with Tudor to be interesting and insightful into what Tasha is like as a person, day to day. It was obvious in the book that they have had their differences, but I found Mr. Davis still maintained a profound respect and awe for this prolific artist. His viewpoints have rounded out my view of Tasha Tudor, offering a real person, rather than just the idealized version of her that I had previously.

I hope that I can give my two young daughters at least of fraction of the magic Tudor has interwoven into her own life!

controversy should not be used in critiquing this book!
When I bought this book I had no idea of its supposed 'unauthorized' status due to a parting of the ways between Tasha Tudor and the author; her agent Harry Davis. I wasn't made aware of this until after I had read the book, enjoyed the artwork and deemed it a worthwhile purchase. In fact, I felt that I appreciated Tasha more after reading the biographical portions of this book because it made her seem more human than some of the other books published about her. I felt that Harry Miles did a very fair job. This book is NOT a scathing, gossipy smear of 'Dear Tasha'. It is a lovely overview of her work and the life that was being lived when that work was created.

Unexpected, still charming
Although the ABC book is indeed charmong with adorable illustrations, Tasha Tudor did not in fact illustrate any of this book. Collectors of Tasha Tudor's work might be disappointed to discover she is inaccurately cited as one of the illustrators. However, the book appeals to preschoolers and fits nicely into a young child's hand. My daughter was delighted by the colorful pictures.
