Pumpkin Moonshine - 60 years later!
If you've never carved a "Pumpkin Moonshine" you've missed a wonderful part of Halloween. As a little girl, Tasha Tudors delightful story was a favorite of mine. My children grew up carving pumpkins, not into jack-o-lanterns, but into Pumpkin Moonshines. The "grands" now enjoy grandmothers love for the season and the wonderful "Pumpkin Moonshine" with the re-release of this beautiful little book to be loved by all.

As always...
As always, Tasha Tudor's work stands out. It is beautiful, stunning, comforting and unforgettable. Both the text and the artwork will remain with you and your children for a lifetime.

Simple, old-fashioned story
"Pumpkin Moonshine" is one of the first Halloween stories I can remember finding in my grade school library. The story is very, very simple, with beautiful artwork, which is probably why it was so captivating.

In the story, a little girl decides to make a "pumpkin moonshine," an old-fashioned term for what we call a Jack-o-Lantern. The girl finds a suitable pumpkin, but it rolls away down the hill, and havoc ensues!

A very nice touch is the artwork on the first letter of a word on each page. Tiny drawings weave their way around the capital letter, and subtly enhance the story.

One of Tasha Tudor's earliest published works, with her signature art style, this is book a real charmer. If you have pre-school or Grade 1-2 kids, both you and they will enjoy the story of the "Pumpkin Moonshine!"

Wonderful, and inspiring
Tasha Tudor is a kindred spirit and this book is a treasure, full of photographs and text on her life and loves, from making baskets, to processing wool from her sheep, milk from her goats, or baking with the eggs her hens provide. Candle making, drying flowers, growing and processing flax into linen, making pottery, raising a vegetable, herbs and flower gardens as well as making hand cream and sewing everything from quilts to clothing.

I guess one reason I wanted and love this book is it shows that one can in 2002 still savor the arts of the past and provide a lot of what one needs to survive day to day. And being small homesteaders in the Sierras I felt as if I were reading the diary or how to journal of one of my older neighbors. The book is one that I can really identify with.

This is a book that anyone who loves making things with their hands will love. And it is a wonderful book for reminding people of what is really important in life.

When I grow up I want to be just like Tasha!!
Wow! I have always been fascinated by the processes of making things by hand and really starting from the ground up. Tasha Tudor lives her entire life this way, starting with flax seeds and ending up three years later with a hand woven, hand sewn linen shirt.

Little did I know, at age six, reading The Doll's House, that the illustrator of this lovely children's book was also a kindred spirt. I wish I lived closer to Vermont and could go visit and learn from this amazing wise woman!

A Book of Dreams
I spend hours looking through this book and marveling at Tasha Tudor's 1830's lifestyle. This is truly a book of dreams -- well...my dreams anyway. Travel through the seasons with Tasha as she cards linen to be woven, sews, stitches, spins, weaves, knits, and cooks.

The photographs are lovely. You will marvel at Tasha's creations. And you'll end up wanting to see her other books in order to get a further glimpse into her life, her home, and her gardens.

This is not a book of crafting instructions or patterns, but it will still be an inspiration to those, like me, who long for a simpler life and who wax nostalgic for the past.

A classically illustrated Caldecott Honor Book counts to twenty in rhyming short sentences. The author notes, "There will...always be children who must learn to count. Teach them also to enjoy the process and to count those things that are important to them," and she does.

Lovely & Lyrical~
1 is One is classic Tasha Tudor. The illustrations are of days gone by ~ bonneted girls and a boy writing on a slate; simple, natural settings with some of a whimsical nature (I especially enjoyed the "12 baby birds learning how to sing"). In addition to being aesthetically pleasing, the text teaches the numbers 1 through 20 in a rhythmical way. A joy for adult and child alike!

The Scriptures and illustrations are united in my memory.
My family wore out our original copy of "And It Was So". Its tattered remains are a cherished momento of my childhood. The Tasha Tudor illustrations are indelibly imprinted in my mind's eye...even today, I see them whenever I read or hear the specific Scriptures. I hope to begin another generation of memories with my children. The complex simplicity of each illustration encourages art appreciation while teaching memory verses at the same time. What a delightful way to end each day...

Next to the bible, the best children's story ever written!
This book has been in my bookcase since it was new in 1960....the story may not be new but, the illustrations are some of her best work. It has been read by my children and grandchildren with plenty of miles to go.

Drawn From New England
What a WONDERFUL book! I've always enjoyed Tasha Tudor, and bring out her books when I need to "escape" and have a pick-me-up. I happened upon this beautiful history written by her daughter, and have since shared it with others....Tasha Tudor is truly a blessing to us all, and to have this insightful, introspective piece shared by her daughter is beyond words. I HIGHLY recommend it to all who are so enamored with what Tasha has done with her life, and for those, such as myself, who wish they knew her personally--this book gives you a wonderful glimpse into this special woman's life, as well as her special family! Enjoy!

This book spoke to my soul, to the self that I had forgotten
I read this portrait of Tasha Tudor by her daughter Bethany with hunger and joy! I shall add it to my list of favorite books that I reread yearly at Christmas as a gift to myself. This intimate portait of one of this century's most unique women adds to a storehouse of wisdom not often found in the modern world. I feel drawn by this book to my own quest for that which inspires me. Bethany Tudor has written a memoir which will serve as inspiration for generations of creative women. The pictures are also exquisite and draw one into the peace and serenity which are Tasha's gifts to us.

Beautifully illustrated Springtime book
My daughters received this book for Easter and it is definitely MY favorite Easter book - it just took my breath away. Incredibly sweet and old-fashioned; no chocolate or hype. Just the essentials of this lovely Springtime holiday - new dresses, adorable baby animals, gentle little children and some colored eggs. I am enchanted and thrilled to have found Tasha Tudor. You will love her!

A Sweet Classic Treasure
Tasha Tudor is classic. I am so thrilled to have purchased this book for my "bookworm" daughter - I purchased this charming book through Tasha's own web page and had it signed by Tasha...however it cost me LOTS more than what the price is listed here - this adorable Easter tale which is beautifully illustrated is one to add to your child's library....The Easter Bunny will be leaving it on Easter for my little girl...and surely it will be a special added treasure to her collection.

a beautiful story book
Books illustrated by Tasha Tudor contain as much magic as the stories themselves. This book includes classic fairy tales with beautiful illustrations that children and adults will enjoy. The stories are simple versions and the perfect length for a bedtime story. Not only have I enjoyed this book (received Christmas 1961) but my children also have loved it. And we buy copies when available for grandchildren. It is a shame that it is out of print. Grab a copy while you can!!!

My Favorite Fairy Tale Book
I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys fairy tales and wonderful illustrations. I still have this book and still enjoy the artistry that Tasha Tudor created for timeless tales.

A Child of the TV Generation Speaks
This book was given to me as a gift when I was a small child in the 1960's. The stories it tells and the lush illustrations were a constant thrill for me and I preferred to spend time with this book (and a grandparent's lap -if I could) rather than watch anything TV had to offer. My beloved old copy is now delighting the Nintendo/Internet Generation.

A little magic in a big world
tjis was one of the first books I bought for my daughter and that was about 20 years ago, it was something I did every night for her,a magic carpet ride, there is a message in every story, her favorite was "Beauty and the Beast", I asked her why, she said, mum, beauty is in the inside, I guess it's true what they say about out of the mouth of babes,!if only we all could be so accepting, what a wonderful world it would be,what the world needs now is LOvE, so in the words of Jesus"LOve on another as I have loved you"
