Fun, but inaccurate
If you are looking for something fun on ancient greece and rome for your child to color, then this coloring book is perfect. Each page features a pair of figures with a short written commentary at the bottom. The clothing for daily wear is attractive and accurate. However, virtually all the pages devoted to Greek and Roman military costume are historically inacurate. The artist makes the most frequent mistake of presenting incorrect materials. For instance, the Greeks did not use chain mail, suprisingly, the armor illustrated should be linnen. The Romans wearing cloth tunics or leather armor should actually be wearing chainmail and metal plate, respectively. Also, the Romans did not use round shields. They should be tall and oval or rectangular. So! If you are looking for a more accurate and educational coloring book on Greek and Roman armies I reccomend "Life in Ancient Greece" and "Life in Ancient Rome" Those 2 Dover books are both fun AND educational.

Nice for girl entering Irish dance.
This paper doll book includes 1 doll and 8 costumes. They are non-perforated cut-outs. The doll is large, nearly 12", which surprised me, because most Tierney paper dolls are drawn to a smaller scale. The costumes are pretty but no history of them is given.

They're paper dolls in a book not actually a reading book
as a kid growning up in the seventies, John Wayne was one of my heroes. Larger than life, so I collected everything on the Duke including Paper dolls. So my parents bought me the booklet and I still have it totally intact. I can't see any "guy" actually playing with them but for collectors they're awesome. Good details from his most popular movies.

Historic Costumes
Suzy, the Indian girl, wears the different costumes of the Southwest Indians. The book includes a Sioux ghost dance dress, a Hopi dress with her hair done in large buns on each side, and many more. The dresses are lovely, and this is the perfect book for young children, as the material is very durable. They will need help cutting it out, though, because the paper is so thick. But this would be a perfect stocking stuffer, or a nice birthday present for a small girl. I'd say the age range would be from 3-8.

a droll doll
This paper doll book from 1979 is quite clever. There is a "basic doll", who unfortunately looks a bit more like Barbie's Ken than Valentino, with Ken's "perfect physique", and large "manly jaw".

It has 21 costumes, mostly from his films, and also features some of his co-stars: Beatice Domingues dancing with him in "The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse", Nazimova ("Camille"), Agnes Ayres ("The Sheik"), Gloria Swanson ("Beyond the Rocks"), Nita Naldi ("Blood and Sand"), Wanda Hawley ("The Young Rajah"), Bebe Daniels ("Monsieur Beaucaire"), Louise Dresser ("The Eagle"), Vilma Banky ("Son of the Sheik"), and his wife Natasha Rambova, dressed for the dance tour they did together.

Rambova had much to do with some of his costumes, as she was "artistic supervisor" for many of his films. She hired Broadway designer Adrian for "Monsieur Beaucaire", and he continued with a long and successful Hollywood career, doing designs for Valentino, and many others.
This is a curious piece of Valentino trivia for fans of the great silent film star...I'm giving it a fairly low rating because of it not looking more like Valentino...but if you don't mind him being "Ken the Sheik of Araby", you'll find it amusing.

Not the best
Tom Tierney's work is beautiful, but he is not working up to his full skill this time. The likenesses aren't that great, and the dolls have none of the usual fascination and beautifully done artwork that his books are famous for. If your a Clinton fan, I suppose it's a good piece of memorabilia. If you're not, I would avoid this book and spend your money on another one of his books. Suggestions: Theodore Roosevelt and His Family paperdolls in full color, John F. Kennedy and His Family Paperdolls in full color( includes many of Jaqueline Kennedy's famous outfits.)

Horrible!
I love Tom Tierney's books, but this one is just awful! Maybe it's not Mr. Tierney's fault, but this is a terrible book. The family looks even more ugly as paperdolls then in real life, if possible. If you did buy this book, the only thing I could think to do with them would be to burn them or cut their heads off. I would not buy this book for all the tea in China. If I could, I would give this book 0 stars.

Review 1
This is a cool book. There are 29 costumes for 4 dolls: The President, First Lady, Chelsea, and Mrs. Virginia Clinton, Bill's mother. A must-have for paper doll fans and collectors alike! :-)
