Lovely Book Paper Dolls!
This is a beautiful book of paper dolls of Henry VIII and his Wives. It's full of nice little details but in the front page Jane Seymour have one of the dress of Catherine of Aragon and Catherine got one of the costume of Jane and Catherine Howard got one of the dress of Jane.
Tom Tierney - the modern Holbein
I have other books by Mr. Tierney, but this is one that I recommend most highly... Mr. Tierney does an exquisite job of rendering one of my all time favorite historical periods with his usual flair, and yet each figure is easily recognizable. Like Hans Holbein, the court painter for Henry VIII, he delivers ART!
Another fun paper doll set from Dover
This is an enjoyable paper doll book containing standard size paper dolls (about the same general size as other paper doll books made by Dover). This set depicts Henry VII in three dolls; two with two sets of clothing, one with only one, and his six wives (Catherine of Aragon, Anne Boleyn, Jane Seymour, Anne of Cleves, Catherine Howard, Catherine Parr) with two sets of clothing each. It also includes historical information that I found very interesting.

Vivien Leigh is hard to capture in image...
I love paper dolls and always have! I found this book to be wonderful. I think Vivien Leigh's beauty is hard to capture exactly, though, and I've seen some terrible images of her in other books. But, all in all, this book is a winner! I just wish the creator would become familiar with another incredibly beautiful and talented young lady by the name of Natalia Melony , and create a paper doll of her! I think if she had been born back then, she would have given Vivien some real competition for the role of Scarlett! Paper doll lovers, I don't think you can go wrong purchasing this. And if you are a Gone With The Wind buff, you will treasure it for your collection. By the way, I was named after one of Scarlett's sisters! - Careen O'Brian
A must for Leigh fans
This is the first of Tom Tierney's paper doll books I bought--probably a decade and a half ago!--and I've become a big fan of his paper dolls in general for their beauty and accuracy. Unlike many of his later paper dolls (Garbo, Joan Crawford, etc.) the Vivien Leigh book contains only one "doll," and the likeness, while good, doesn't quite capture her incredible beauty. (Do, however, note the brunette doll in his Southern Belle paper doll book, who is a dead ringer for Leigh--perhaps Tierney decided to have another go?) This book contains many costumes from _Gone with the Wind_--the green-sprigged dress, green velvet "drapery" dress, scandalous red dress, and mourning dress from the Atlanta bazaar sequence among them. There are also plenty of beautiful costumes from many of VL's other movies (including two from Waterloo Bridge and two from Streetcar). The color in some editions is a little washed-out (I have gone through several copies over the years!) but fans of Vivien Leigh and GWTW should really enjoy this. I only wish it could have contained _all_ VL's costumes from GWTW.
A Must Have for Vivien Leigh Fans!
I am a HUGE fan of Vivien Leigh who collects her films and biographies. This was a terrific addition to my collection. The dolls and outfits are beautifully drawn, and capture various film roles including Gone with the Wind. There are even outfits in the book from never-before-released-on-video The Deep Blue Sea. Since many of her films were in black and white, it is interesting to see outfits from those films colorized. ENJOY!

fun book
This is a very nice book. The costumes are very pretty, though they don't compare with the Southern books Mr. Tierney's done. The dolls aren't very pretty, in my opinion, but I may be prejudiced since I'm from the South. It includes a wedding dress for Christine and the family's attire for all occasions. The little girl, Annie is very cute. This would be good classroom material.
Great introduction to Civil War era clothing
This book offers a good introduction into the clothing of the Civil War era family. The pictures have wonderful color and the descriptions are easily understood and informative. Although it is a paper doll book, I prefer to keep it intact and enjoy it that way. However, it would also make a great gift for a paper doll enthusuiast. It is a great book for kids and parents to enjoy together, as are all of the "American Family" books by Tierney. A great buy!

Another beautiful doll book
Many wonderful and decidedly French influenced fashions are represented here. Not quite as many costumes or as diverse a set of them as in Tierney's Regency doll book, but while I haven't used this set as much it has certainly been fun to compare the French and English styles.
Tierney Strikes Again!
Tom Tierney has produced another wonderful book of paper dolls! I have been collecting his period paper dolls since I was a child and have never been dissapointed. This set is no exception. The costumes are fitted perfectly to the Empire period. They would also be a perfect gift for any child interested in books from this era, such as Jane Austen's works. They can become the pictures for otherwise un-illustrated books. They are also a must-have for any historical clothing fanatics. These paper dolls come highly recommended!

Glamorous Movie Stars
I received Glamorous Stars of the 1960's for my birthday and am very pleased with the book. The dolls are very well drawn and actually do justice to the actresses portrayed. The costumes are perfect in every detail, down to the grain of the fabric. Included are Jane Fonda and her red dress from Cat Ballou, Barbra Streisand with her dresse from Funny Girl and the gorgeous golden gown from Hello Dolly, Natalie Wood and her Maria dress from West Side Story, Anne Bancroft as Annie Sullivan in The Miracle Workery, and Julie Andrews as Maria in The Sound of Music and Mary Poppins. My only problem with this work is the actresses chosen and those left out. I also thought some of the wrong outfits were used, like putting a costume from a relatively unknown movie in there instead of one from a more popular movie. Over all, though, I think Tom Tierney did a great job on Glamorous Movie Stars of the 1960's.
BARBRA STREISAND DOLL RULES!
THIS IS A GREAT BOOK.THE BARBRA STREISAND DOLL WITH OUTFITS FROM FUNNY GIRL, HELLO DOLLY, AND ON A CLEAR DAY YOU CAN SEE FOREVER PROVES TO BE THE HIGHLIGHT OF A FINE TRIBUTE TO EIGHT ACTRESSES.A WELL THOUGHT OUT TRIBUTE TO WHO WAS WHO IN 1960'S FILMS.

Classroom material
This is a wonderful book. The family includes grandparents, parents, and 4 children. It shows the family as the farming class, middle class, upper class, and after the war. The costumes are beautiful and historically accurate. It could be used in the classroom to show children what the costume our forefathers wore were like. I highly recommend this book if you are interested in the colonial period, or just love paperdolls. It may not be suitable for very young children, as some of the ladies' costumes have fragile headdresses.
Interesting...
This paper doll set was one of many that I found extremely interesting and fun. The clothing items were gorgeous...much nicer than some others I have gotten lately and Tom Tierney has once again created great characters for all paper-doll collectors.

Excellent Tierney Book!
Beautiful plates from around World War I. Three generations...grandparents Lynn and Lily; parents Raymond and Margery; Nancy, their oldest daughter; Janet, two years younger than Nancy; Ray Jr., Holly, and Gretchen are all attached as one doll, the youngest of the family. Each member of the family has everyday clothes, coats, clothes for outdoors (so Lynn can go golfing, Raymond and Margery can play croquet, and Nancy and Janet can play tennis;)), and their very best for Nancy's wedding. A happy ending: "radiant bride" Nancy and her new husband Charles. Very nice book, but not my favorite of Tom Tierney's. The three children and their toys make it more pleasurable for kids. I say it's definitely worth it! Great buy!
