This is a wonderful paper doll book. Book gives a bit of history regarding the dresses in the book. Illustrations are excellent.

i bought this book on a whim, and consequently spent hours in front of the Xerox machine making my own stationery with it! Lots of neat/"retro"/wacky/elegant black-and-white illustrations of, you guessed it, women's heads. Very stylized. Tons to choose from. A+!!

While perusing the paper doll/project book section of the Children's area of my local Border's, i discovered this incredible item. I cannot even begin to describe the joy and excitement I felt as I stood on line, proudly toting my Richard M. Nixon paper doll book. Although I knew that I was being laughed at not only by Brian, but the rest of the store as well, I couldn't wait to purchase it, bring it home, and leave it in a prized spot on a shelf in my room. Now that the book is mine, I know it will continue to brighten my every day, and bring a smile to my face.

This book includes General and Mrs. Lee in 3 stages of their life: as young a young couple about to be married, during the 1840s with their children, and during the war with their adult children. It includes many of General Lee's uniforms, and his famous horse, Traveller. This is a must for Civil War buffs(especially Southern ones!) and paper doll fans.

A MUST FOR A BRITSH ROYALTY FAN ! ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC ! I LOVED EEVERY INCH OF IT !

I have lots of books by the artist Tom Tierney and this is one of the best. He gives a brief history of each of the dolls starting with the birth of Saint Nicholas. He also shows a few international versions of the Saint in different eras. Mr. Tierney's artwork is always top notch and colorfull. An ideal gift or coffee table book at a great price!

I found that these gowns and the people were beautiful. I could spend all day looking at this book...

The Theodore Roosevelt paperdoll set was the first book in which I beagn to seriously collect illustrated by Tom Tierney. Here he uses history and fashion to show you how a President of the United States lived at the turn of the Century, along with his family. Tierney's use of color and history, blend together to create a family that Hollywood would have difficulty replicating! This is still one of my favorite books illustrated by Tierney, after 7 years of collecting. I wish he would illustrate more books on all the Presidents, not just some.

If you're an adult and you still love to color - the coloring books by Tom Tierney are WONDERFUL! I especially love the fashions in the Tudor and Elizabethan fashions. His descriptions of the fashions and clothing of the times make the books unique and fascinating. Make sure you have plenty of color pencils on hand, though, because the books are too detailed for crayons. I would not recommend this book for impatient people or children because the coloring of the drawings can be tedious (up to 1-2 hours for one drawing depending on the book and the outfit, but then again, I'm a perfectionist).

My grandmother passed on her love of paper dolls to meby buying me Tom Tierney dolls for my sixth birthday. Ive been collecting them ever since. Im now in highschool and Ilove them even more! Not only are they beautifully illustrated, but they are always ckock full of historical facts. Almost everything I know about the Wilsons I got from this book. Im studying the presidents wives now because of these dolls. I find that these dolls help my history come alive! I really could go on and on about these dolls, and any others Mr. Tierney does. But Ill close saying anything you can get by him is the best way to learn about the subject.
