Sultry Stella does it again!
Under rated, vivacious Stella Stevens proves she's still got all the right moves...even as an author! It's a hoot in the style of Sidney Sheldon and Jackie Collins...and is especially fun in its thinly veiled characterizations of some of the famous folks the author, herself, has known over her long and interesting career!

Great vacation read
I bought this book just before leaving on vacation. It proved to be the best of the 3 books I read on this trip and is a good read for anybody. I think the main character is based on Elvis and makes me much more interested in finding out what parts might be true and which were fictionalized. The writing is crisp and the book held me throughout. I would definitely recommend it.

Savoring France: Recipes and Reflections on French Cooking (The Savoring Series)
Published in Hardcover by Time Life (1999)
Authors: Georgeanne Brennan, Chuck Williams, Steven Rothfeld, and Noel Barnhurst
Amazon base price: $39.95
Average review score:

Tres Magnifique
What really grabbed me at first glance was the vivid colors and attention to the details in the numerous photographs in this book.

Ms. Brennan confided to me recently in a chatroom interview at the French cuisine site that she gained about ten pounds while testing the recipes for the book.

The recipes are all very traditional dishes you'd find in homes and bistros all over France and are simple enough for a confident and even a new cook to recreate.

Along with the delicious, hearty French recipes are little anecdotes sprinkled throughout that shed light on useful things like using creme fraiche. A perfect gift for a francophile, cook or someone who loves good classic cuisine without hours of preparation involved. The book is so vibrant and lovely you'll want to leave it on the coffee table to make your guests salivate while they wait for dinner.

C'est Magnifique!
This is quite possibly the best cookbook I have ever read! Not only does it have beautiful pictures and wonderful, EASY, delicious recipes, but it has delightful information on the customs, countryside, and people of France. It's a cookbook I actually USE all the time!

CD ROM
I am looking for a cd rom of thisbook, may be you can tell me if this cd exists? if yes how can I get it?
best regards Dr` Roman Korobochka MD

obstetrics,high-risk,maternal-fetal medicine
As a woman who has had a history of difficult pregnancies (including unexplained fetal demises), Williams Obstretrics was indispensable to me in my search for the causes of my missed abortions (late miscarriages). Many doctors feel the less patients know from firsthand sources (such as this book), the better it is. But for me, Williams Obstretrics answered many questions not only regarding my losses but also in my uncomplicated pregnancies. OBGYNs don't need to be told about this book; they swear by it. I think their patients should too.

Amazon base price: $44.00

Excellent, comprehensive source for Aquatic Professionals
This book was found to be extremely helpful in development of a new aquatic facility for the developmentally disabled. It is a good assistance source in identification of program focus with excellent and clear suggestions for specific populations. Additionally, it offers ideas for practical applications with issues such as transfers, emergency procedures, and facility modifications. I love it, use it frequently as a reference, and refer to it in teaching new staff and university student Interns! GREAT!

Alexander Technique (Alternative Health)
Published in Paperback by Charles E Tuttle Co (1994)
Authors: Chris Stevens and Shaun Williams
Amazon base price: $12.95
Average review score:

One of the best introductions available.
Chris Stevens has written a simple, accessable introduction to the Alexander Technique. The book is free from New Age cant and 'alternative' foolishness, gives a clear description of the Technique, answering begginer's questions about finding teachers, what lessons are like etc.

The only comparable introductory book is 'Body Learning' by M. Gelb.

Algebra: An Approach Via Module Theory (Graduate Texts in Mathematics, Vol. 136)
Published in Hardcover by Springer Verlag (1992)
Authors: William A. Adkins and Steven H. Weintraub
Amazon base price: $71.95
Average review score:

Used this as a reference book during a course; excellent!
Let me first tell you that I am an undergraduate in mathematics, having read a couple of courses in algebra, and one course in analysis (Rudin). I took this (for me) more advanced algebra course in rings and modules, covering what I believe is standard stuff on modules presented with functors and so on, Noetherian modules, Semisimple modules and Semisimple rings, tensorproduct, flat modules, exterior algebra. Now, we had a fine compendium but I felt I needed something with a tensy bit of exemples, you know more like what the moronic undergraduate is used to! So I bought this book by Adkins & Weintraub and was at first a bit disappointed, as you can well imagine. But after a while I discovered that it did meet my needs after a certain weening period. Especially chapter 7. Topics in module theory with a clear presentation of semisimple modules and rings served me well in supporting the rather terse compendium. As you can tell I don't have that much experience of mathematics so I won't try to judge this book in other ways than to tell you that I found it quite readably despite my poor background. There are very good examples and not just one or two. The notation was forbidding at first but after a while I learned to trust it. There are many examples and computations of normal form. E.g. for Jordan normal form.

Well I found it good fun and it was surely worth the money for me!

Aquinas on Creation: Writings on the "Sentences" of Peter Lombard: Book 2, Distinction 1, Question 1 (Mediaeval Sources in Translation, No 35)
Published in Paperback by Pontifical Institute of Mediaeval Studies (1998)
Authors: Thomas Aquinas, Steven E. Baldner, and William E. Carroll
Amazon base price: $22.95
Average review score:

Brilliant.
Aquinas On Creation is a fascinating introduction to St. Thomas's philosophy of the begining of time (creation). Though I disagree with Aquinas on almost every possible point, his arguments are valid and good. Additionally, professors William Carroll and Steven Baldner translate Aquinas in such a way as to make him intelligable to both philosopher and layperson alike.

The smartest money I ever spent on college
I bought this book to help me prepare for the GRE History Exam that I will take in only a few days. I've had a chance to use this book for CLEP exams and for the classes I've been taking in college. It breaks down all important parts of History and has helped me earn 12 credits through testing in only 3 months, and the GRE I can say I'm pretty prepared for it thanks to this book. I would recommend this one for anyone interested in History or those who are getting either a major or concentration in History. Cheap college credits.
