Good technical explanations of mind enhancing? substances.
At http://journyx.com/curt/megadrugs.html you will find data about this book. It is a good book, but it won't tell you what to do. It describes these substances in sometimes boring detail. It doesn't prescribe. It's a fascinating and new field. Proceed with caution and optimism.

The Bucks Start Here
Although I read this book when it first came out I'm ordering it to read again twelve years later. Talk about a first-rate detective story! Bisson develops his leads and begins tracing where all the bucks go by using his friends in high places and his own pockets full of legitimate bucks. He developed the characters with such precision that you never forget where you are in the story as he uncovers a Billion here, a Billion there! His description of how the money is parcelled out by Swiss attorneys according to your position in the heirarchy's ladder is nothing short of astounding. Influence in these foreign countries is "For Sale" and the recipients live like kings. It's a great read and I challenge you to put it down before you've finished it.

a clear, interesting introduction to the study of west civ
Writing an introductory Western Civ text is a daunting task. Maltby and Hause have done an excellent job of representing events accurately and clearly. They have included interesting details that help students gain a feel for the people and the periods discussed. I highly recommend it.

Nourishing Rice....more like Die from Sodium overdouse
I made the nourishing rice recipie on this book...I know, I know it may be unfair to judge a book by only trying one recipie but ...I would think the purpose of an cookbook author is to help the buyers to succeed not to just look at the pretty picture and be disappointed with the results.
Anyways, I tried the "Nourishing Rice" recipe and I was highly disappointed, for one, the end result was not only salty but also soggy, and with the inmense amount of meats versus the rice ratio, the recipie should have been called "Nourishing Pork" not rice.
I think this recipie will not only benefit from the addition of half chicken stock and half water if not the omission of the chicken stock altogether which in the end does not add flavor since it is overpowered by the strong pork/ham/chorizo flavors...and it would help control the salt problem.
I should have known better with the ratio presented but I gave it a try since a lot of people seem to believe she is an authority on the spanish cooking scene.(which makes me wonder how many of them exactly have tried her recipies)
I know I made no mistakes while preparing this recipe, I grew up on this cuisine, and I honestly think that if this is what the best has to offer with all their culinary schooling; I am better off skiping the schooling and putting the money towards publishing my own book!!!
What a waste of my money.
By the way I would take my case to any kitchen against the author and more than prove my point.

Excelente!
This cookbook contains by far the most wonderful recipes (and beautiful photos to match!) of Iberian cooking. I've prepared many of the recipes (not just one like a fellow reviewer) and have found the dishes to be absolutely delectable. I received rave reviews from friends and family. If you love this cuisine, this book is a wonderful investment!

A Must Have
"Savoring Spain and Portugal" is a must have. The book has wonderful dishes prepared from ingredients that most already have in their kitchen. The pictures are exquisite, and there is information on Spanish and Portuguese culture and geography as well. I have the other members of the savoring series to date, and this is my favorite. This is a book that you will browse again and again.

Explanations - Mediocre, Problems - Impossible
I have used this book for Circuit Theory I & II in college and I find the questions in the book VERY difficult. Many times, the solutions require a page full of calculations to derive one answer in chapter 2 (KVL)! In addition, the authors do not make any effort to gradually increase the problem's difficulty level, they simply make all their problems difficult. This is frustrating for students learning new concepts, because excercises are meant to reinforce what you have learned.

Unless you have prior knowledge of circuit theory, do not purchase this book. The book is only good if you want to sharpen your existing circuit theory skills.

A classic in its line
Few authors have the knack of presenting complex concepts in an easier, comprehensible and enjoyable way than can William Hayt. I used this book for a course on 'Circuit Theory' and found that the book had the right amounts of everything needed to help the student get feel of electric circuit analysis.

As a supplementary text, I used the Schaum's series on Electric Circuits, by Edminster and Nahvi.

Lazy people need not buy
This book is THE Classic textbook for Engineering Circuit Analysis - stress on the word ENGINEERING. Unlike basket weaving or truck driving, electrical engineering requires deep thought, hard work, and a good attitude. And of course, intelligence. If you are looking for a cakewalk type of book, go buy some book of little substance written by a technician and you can fluff your way through your "class". This is a book used for a type of class that weeds out the fakers; separates the MEN from the boys. The bad reviews on this book make me laugh! The examples in this book are of an essential nature. Don't let them fool you, this is the best book ou there!

You might like the book
I would be unfair to say that the 883 pages were a total waste, but it wasn't worth it for me.

The title of the Book is "ASP XML", and from this title I choose this book, because I wanted a book that would help me to use XML in ASP. That wasn't the case in some of the book examples.

The book content (without the case study) is only 15 chapter that spans 366 pages covering all different aspects of XML and XML integration of ASP. The information presented is very basic and lacks basic knowledge of XML, for example XSL was covered very poorly in the book ( MSDN was more helpful to me than the book). Chapter 11 through 14 were very useful though, especially chapter 14 that covers useful XML procedure libraries.

The case studies spans around 180 pages, there are 6 case studies. They were very confusing to me and none of them helped me solving any of the business requirements I was tackling.

The rest of the book contains appendices that are useful to have them all in the same book, but you can get them over the Internet for free.

Last word to say is that I was disappointed with this book.

Excellent Book For ASP Developers to implement XML in ASP
The chapters are laid out properly and are easy to understand. It helped us to learn a great deal about incorporating XML into ASP.We recommend this book to anyone who wants to further expand their knowledge of XML in ASP.The authors did a really good job on explaing XML for ASP developers. The depth explainations of the case studies & examples and XML are really great and relate to real world examples. The chapter explaining about the SOAP is really good which helped us a lot personally to implement an in my current project . We personally thank Dinar Dalvi for his help and support to answer our questions and immediate feedback for our emails.

Best for Programmers to implement XML in ASP
Excellent! for ones who are pro to ASP and need to intergrate XML with ASP! A must buy!

The Attorney
Published in Audio CD by John Curley & Assoc (2000)

A little too long, with big plot holes at the end.
Martini was wise to go back to his "bread and butter" protagonist, Paul Madriani. I always enjoyed this character and I was dismayed at such books as Martini's "Critical Mass," in which Martini discarded both Madriani and the legal thriller genre. Much of "The Attorney" is exciting and compelling. Paul Madriani, the hero of the title, tries to help Jonah Hale, an older man who has made a great deal of money in a lottery. Hale's granddaughter is missing, along with her drug-addicted mother. Along the way, Madriani encounters complications relating to his lover, Susan, who works with abused children, and Paul is nearly killed by a Mexican drug lord. Eventually, a key characters is murdered and Paul is the defendant's attorney at trial. As always, Martini is very good at writing courtroom sequences. As compelling as some of these courtroom scenes are, the book drags on for over 400 pages. The most problematic element of the book, however, is the tacked-on ending. Martini loves surprise endings. He delivers the surprise at the very end of the book and it simply does not hold water. There are plot holes at the end that are enormous and the author never plugs up the holes. I still enjoyed much of the book, but Martini should be more careful in making the plot more coherent. Surprise endings work only when they make sense.

Welcome return of Paul Madriani
Steve Martini has finally returned to his Paul Madriani series and not a moment too soon. Paul, and his law partner, Harry Hinds, are two of the most endearing characters in any legal thriller. While "The Attorney" does not measure up to previous Martini books like "Undue Influence", it is still a worthwhile read.

Paul and his daughter move to southern California to be closer to Paul's new girlfriend, and Harry follows to set up a new practice there. Paul is soon retained by Jonah Hale to help find Jonah's granddaughter who was snatched from his custody by Jonah's daughter. What seems to be a clear-cut, if not easily resolved case soon escalates to murder and Paul decides to represent Jonah in court.

There are excellent descriptions of Paul's southern California locale, right down to certain street names. This tediousness detracts from the action somewhat. But like some of the other reviews noted, the killer is quite obvious less than halfway through the book. It is a mystery (excuse the pun) why a writer as skilled as Martini would give a clue as to the killer's identity that all but reaches out and slaps the reader across the face. This aside, "The Attorney" is tightly paced thriller that is suspenseful despite knowing who the killer is early on in the book. Martini is a writer that is among the ranks of Scott Turow and Richard North Patterson, and it is good to finally see him returning to the legal thriller genre where he writes best.

A suspenseful legal thriller.
Attorney Paul Madriani has recently moved to San Diego and set up his law practice with his partner Harry. He moved to San Diego to be closer to the woman in his life, Susan, but little does he know the trouble Susan will cause. One of his first clients in San Diego is Jonah Hale, an elderly man who won millions in the state lottery. He is the grandfather of Amanda, the 8-year-old who Jonah and his wife have been raising. Jonah's absent daughter Jessica suddenly becomes interested in parenting Amanda after Jonah wins the lottery. Jonah refuses to discuss shared custody, so Jessica resorts to Zo Suade, a militant anti-men activist who helps women abduct their children from the custodian. With Suade's help, Jessica abducts Amanda from Jonah. Jonah hires Madriani to help find his granddaughter. Suddenly there is a dead body to contend with, and Jonah is the prime suspect. Madriani must race against time to save Amanda from the drug lords who are hunting down her mother, and keep Jonah out of jail before he succumbs to an illness. This book is full of suspense, and a fun read. However, the climax comes very late in the book, and the last four or five chapters are a fast-paced attempt at tying up the loose ends and solving the mystery. I would have preferred if Martini had spread the last few chapters out more, but the "who done it" finale is superb - you may guess who did it, but not why and how.

A VERY POORLY WRITTEN AND BADLY ORGANIZED TEXTBOOK
Larsen's /Embryology/ is not a very good embryology book at all: it has little overall organization, lots of pedantic and unclear language, and does not convey much of anything concisely. Reading it is the same as reading a laundry list of terms. If you want to get a good embryology book, this one is **definitely** NOT the one.

Larsen'Human Embryology
I am professor of Embryology and I like this book because it covers all the itens. This is an update book: It covers the molecular aspects of this beautifull science.

Great book, essential to pass embryology material
This book covers the basics of embryology including outstanding diagrams. In places, it has too much detail, but it is very well written and the illustrations (essential for learning embryology) are beautiful.

another great topic in the wrong hands
I love all architecture and I can remember when I could count on titles from Rizzoli to uphold a certain standard, but that was too long ago. J.R.P. was an extrodinatry man for his time and a classic architect who deserves the same type of fame given to Frank Lloyd Wright. Rizzoli once again has failed the topic. GREAT COVER AND NO SUBSTANCE A.K.A. PAPER GARBAGE.

Great archtitect, long overdue book, writing a little dry.
This wonderful architect deserves study. his work is represented well but society context, office practice, growth in style are a little lacking and could have been better . Still a great addtion to any library!

Pope rehabilitated
This carefull reappraisal of Popes work was long overdue. One would hope that it will be followed by books on Cass Gilbert and Paul Cret who with Pope were the last masters of American Classical Architecture.Their work has stood the test of time beter than many more modern buildings.

This is the worst book on the subject of periodization!
I thought this book was terribly awful. Its more of a briefreview of periodization, not a book on the theory, and training. Itsalmost like a cheap, and sloppy version of cliff notes on Dr.Bompa's Serious Strength Training. I would not recommend Periodization Breakthrough to anyone. If you want the complete theory, and training methodology of Periodization for bodybuilding/strength training purposes, I very highly recommend Dr. Bompa's Serious Strength Training. It is I beleive the best written book on the topic!

Falls Short
I was disappointed in this book. It advertises itself as containing "The Ultimate Training System," but does not live up to the title. It has some good material in it, and I appreciated the science-based support of the authors' theories. However, it is extremely light on practical examples. There are far better books out there to help you understand and develop "The Ultimate Training System." One I would recommend is The New Power Program: Protocols for Maximum Strength by Michael, Dr. Colgan.

Excellent--Teaches you how to create your own Peridization..
This was a really detailed book. I have read "Serious Strength Training" by Bompa, however I felt that this book gave me more insight into creating my own custom periodization schedule. Bompa's book had most of it pre-planned. The book had excellent citations for research an gave me all the information I needed in a well laid out format.
