An excellent guide to Lawrence's short fiction.
This guide is designed for those who would be knowledgeable readers of major short stories by D.H. Lawrence when the store of scholarship, investigation, and appraisal is far too vast for all but the expert. A thorough examination of what has been written about these short stories, each chapter deals with a different short story and consists of five distinct sections: (1)the complete publication history, including all revisions and variants; (2)an inclusive examination of recognized and hitherto unrecognized sources, as well as the influences at work on Lawrence in the creation ot the story; (3)the story's relationship to Lawrence's other writings; (4)acknowledgement and summary of all extant critical studies; and (5)a bibliography of works cited.

This book is really incredible
This book is top quality. It is mostly a pictorial but really gives an insight as to the tone of the civil rights era. I would recommend this book highly and I bought several copies for friends. The author is well respected and is the founder of the National Civil Rights Museum.

Great book for beginning readers
This is a great book for beginning readers. The stories are darling! Plus, the illustrations correlate well to the story giving the beginning reader extra clues as to the story words below. Unlike some beginning readers, this series is age appropriate through age 8. It appeals to the older beginning reader as well as the younger reader. I heartily recommend this book to anyone with a beginning reader.
Mystical Element in Heidegger's Thought

A comparison of Heigegger's later thought to Meister Eckhart
John Caputo investigates the claim of many modern philosphers
that Heidegger became a mystic in the latter part of his life.
Caputo performs a careful analysis of this claim by looking
at the writings of Heidegger as they relate to a true German
mystic, Meister Eckhart. Does Heidegger's relationship
between being and Being equate to Eckhart's soul and God?
Does his use of "Gelassenheit", a term of Eckhart's meaning
detachment, show a common belief? Caputo's book works on
many levels. It brings together two of the great "book ends"
of Germany philosophy, spanning the 14th to 20th centuries.
And, just as Caputo does a wonderful job of conveying Heidegger's
thought, so, too, he captures the mysticism of Eckhart. It
was this which actually appealed to me more, and I believe
the book can be an excellent introduction into the thinking
of one of the greatest mystics of all time -- Eckhart.
The New Moral Order : The Poems and Essays of David Martin

An eye-opening view of America's press with a touch of humor
Martin has made poetry fun to read again unlike the common artsy-fartsy swill called poems we usually get fed. This book is packed with information not available to the public from the one size fits all American press.
Reginald Alton, former Dean of St. Edmond Hall, Oxford University and Chariman of the English Department wrote that David Martin is "America's Alexander Pope".
I enjoyed the book from cover to cover and Martin's sense of humor.

Great ideas for the do-it-yourselfer.
I was very pleased at all the ideas and step by step instructions in this book. I wanted to build a cover for my patio and bought this just based on the front cover (had a picture of the type of cover I'm looking for). With great suggestions on what MY patio might need, I'm going forward with my plans! Before this I had no idea where to start. Now I have a good amount of information to make me feel comfortable with drawing up the plans, figuring out my materials list, and starting the project. The photos in here offer some great ideas and really get the creative juices flowing.

Powerful Screenplay
Bruce Beresford writes a poised, beautiful screenplay for this horrific topic of human abuse and survival in a unique and unknown wilderness for a group of British, Australian and American women during the Second World War. It was an unexpecting attack on Singapore by the Japanese which sent these women on a boat, which fatefully was targeted and hit by Japanese bombers during it's journey to a safe haven. The women are swept to a shore in Japan and are eventually captured after surviving the Forrest conditions by Japanese soldiers. They are sent to a concentration camp for Westerners run by the Japanese in a remote part of Japan, concealed by Forrest and constantly in unpleasant climate. The abuse of the soldiers results in the raw emotion of the characters to be exposed, and the women then resort to the power of singing to distract themselves, and the soldiers, of their entrapment. The repulsive conditions take toll of the women who are in poorer health and eventually, after an almighty struggle, many of them die. The will to live is, as they say, 'their Paradise Road', and when they are liberated, this metaphorical road, is their absolute and final survival crossing.
Paradise Road is raw, and disturbingly confronting. The gentle and almost sereal resonance of the women's voices in the camp, is the ultimate contrast to the abuse suffered by these women.

Another hit from the Brand New Readers series. Each book is funny and fun for my 3 year old to read. The pictures are colorful and interesting. The story lines are simple enough to read yet interesting enough to make my son laugh. A great value!

Throw all OTHER nutrition books OUT!
This is the best nutrition book I've ever read! You need nothing more than this book. He knows all about nutrition. This book is so spectacular! It's not like any other book on the planet! It's better than all those put together. He gives you the importance of the right foods in your body. This book helped me sleep better when I regulated my food alkaline intake. I'm using a certain type of vegetable instead of salt and I feel better knowing I'm eating the right foods. This is the one and only book you need for nutrition. This book is the best "investment" I've made for my body, ever!

This book seeks to do just that. Steinmetz shows Luther as someone born to Theology as much as Bach was born to Music! More than that, Steinmetz's Luther is a fighter - a wrestler! Like Jacob of old, here we see Luther contending with his "contemporaries" - by that I mean the characters and ideas that more than any social concerns or pressures occupied his thoughts and demanded an appropriate response. We see Luther versus Abraham, Luther versus Isaiah, Luther versus Paul, Luther versus Augustine, Luther versus Ockham, Luther versus Erasmus and ultimately we see Luther versus himself and Luther versus God!
In short, we see Luther's beliefs as the product of conflict/crisis - much unlike the convenient/functional sort we see in many today. Reading this book allows me to see many Lutheran doctrines with far greater clarity than ever - e.g. the Hidden God, the Bondage of the Will, etc. I see Luther as someone like Jacob in the Book of Genesis holding on to the LORD, clinging on for his dear life! Then I see Luther limping away after his fights... a better man, a defeated man, a victorious man, a rebel and a worshipper. Israel.
Read Althaus' "Theology of Martin Luther" as your primer on Lutheranism. Then read this book to see everything in clearer perspective and context. I dare you to remain cool and disinterested after experiencing these vigorous battles of the mind and spirit.
