Studying the weekly Scriptures for Catholics
I found this book to be very helpful in my scriptural studies. I like the way it is set up and the reflections. Most of all, I like the way each Sunday has the readings, with Scripture references, a reflection, questions to meditate on, ideas on how to share your faith throughout the week and the references for the rest of the upcoming week readings.

Excellent book to use to come up to speed
A number of books out there look at Visual Basic for Applications, but this is the only one so far that focuses on the newest version of Access. I found this book to be invaluable in cutting through the clutter and getting me straight to the practical applications of VBA. The authors take you through basic programming tenants but don't dwell on them. Rather they jump into examples that are very interactive and instructive. Their examples are clear and are good starting points to expand from on your own. It is not an exhaustive reference, but you benefit from it more if you have some decent Access experience. If you don't know a database, you are not going to learn here. But in just a few weeks after reading this book, I find myself going again and again into the examples as starting points for my own projects. And it is amazing how a little bit of programming will impress the users.

There are a couple of mistakes in the book that can inhibit your code from running. In addition, the database supplied has dates of 1998 and 99, but the book uses dates in 2001, so you have to adjust your code in order to get results. And unfortunately WROX has shut down its errata area so you can't really get help with these problems. So don't assume if your code doesn't work, it is your fault. This is where the code on the CD can be helpful - if it doesn't run right it's the program, not the programmer.

Overall with a little patience and work, you can get a huge amount of help from this book.

Lots and lots of good information!
This new book by the authors Smith and Wafford picks up where the old "blue" book stops. This book contains practically all new pictures and items which were not in the old book. Based on the title "The Book of Wagner & Griswold" the majority of the book contains information about Wagner. There is 124 pages which deal with Wagner Ware. The information contained is solid and not to be found anywhere else. Once again, this book becomes the Bible for collecting old cookware. The information on Griswold is not nearly as as long as Wagner. It is only 75 pages. There are many new items in this book which was not in the other books. There is quite a bit of information about aluminum Griswold items which is very helpful if you are collecting this type of cookware. Finally the sections on Martin Stove, Lodge, Axford, Vollrath and Excelsior(G.F.Filley) is great! For each manufacture it gives the history along with photo's/prices. Super information which I have not found anywhere else. I think this book is a "must have" for the cookware collector. It is a good companion book to "The Book of Griswold & Wagner." To be fully informed you really need both books. I have found these books by Smith and Wafford to be pretty close in the values of various items. Although variances do exist I have found these to be the closest out of all the cast iron collectable books available. I keep both of these books next to my computer and refer to them almost daily when shopping the internet for cast iron. A++++

Great blend of drama and reality.
Peter Goodchild's take on the events following the upheaval at the 1968 Democratic Convention in Chicago masterfully mixes real life interviews with dramatic re-enactments from the courtroom. The actors portray the 60's "hippies" with passion and reverence. The interviewing of historians and participants provides intriguing details into the events. Truly a great blend of drama and reality.

So you're interested in history... or maybe you teach?
If you have read on the Reformation or are interested in Western Civilization, to know it or to teach it, this book is a must-read. The articles collected offer terrific insight to this critical period of history. You will get insight from authors challenging the concepts of reformation/counter reformation, to ideas as diverse as the misogyny of the era, among many other ideas. the hardback is [money], so look for the paper back.

Superb
Martin Jarvis performs a fabulous reading of "David
Copperfield". His interpretation of Dickens's colorful
cast of characters is spot-on.

My only complaint is with the format of the CDs themselves.
Most MP3 players have a feature for moving from folder to
folder and for browsing among MP3 files in a given folder.
This allows one to quickly find one's bookmark, so to
speak. But on each of the "David Copperfield" CD's, all the
MP3 files are collected in one folder, thereby forcing the
listener to manually page through a large number of files on
those occasions (such as power disconnection) where the MP3
player loses its memory of its last stopping point.

Given the quality of the reading, however, the CD formatting
is a minor nit.

Japan's ex-frontman Sylvian...a prolific poet & Musician
Beauty, sensitivity, honesty, and passion are all evident in the work of a man who can only be described as this countries most eclectic and prolific private musician, with work spanning four decades David Sylvian has nothing to prove, with a dedicated following he can confidently move on into any genre he feels willing to explore, this book shows his complex thoughts and ideals. Trophies 2 points specifically to his past and present lyrics and helps to understand the music and the textures he creates, this is'nt just for the besotted Sylvian follower but for the writers and poets of the next generation.

Powerful works of art
A remarkable collection of powerful and memorable images: protest posters produced in Vietnam, Cuba and the United States. The art is incredible, and the essays skillfully provide insight into the posters themselves and the contexts in which they were created. I wish i had seen the exhibition myself, but this book is a valuable substitute.

THE DINOSAUR TRACKERS' 'MUST HAVE'!
This is the most essential (to serious professional and amateur paleontologists) book on dinosaur tracks that has ever been published, and that is probably the reason it is still in print after eleven years. A few words of review will not do justice to this book, which has 71 contributing authors from all over the world! It includes: Dinosaur tracks and trackways so old that they were produced when only about 3% to 5% of reptiles were dinosaurs; A detailed scientific description (also photos and drawings) and naming of Brontopodus birdi (the tracks and trackways of huge Sauropods of Texas and elsewhere); Detailed photographic, graphic, and geological description of the Briar Site, a huge Sauropod trackway site in Arkansas; Description of Pterosaur (non-dinosaurian flying reptiles)foot structure (skeletal), as it relates to Pterosaur tracks and trackways; Details of magnificent Iguanadontian footprints in the Waelden of East Sussex; Dinosaur foorprints of Western Canada; Comparison of ratite footprints and trackways with tridactyl footprints and trackways reasonably attributed to Mesozoic dinosaurs; An important examination of dinosaur trackway beds of the Gulf Coastal Plain of the U.S.A.; Footprints of 'swimming Sauropods' in Morocco; "The Stance of Dinosaurs and The Cossack Dancer Syndrome"; Detailed analysis of elongate dinosaur tracks (plantigrade tracks), with demonstration that 'creationist' claims that some of these are 'man tracks' is completely wrong; and descriptions of dinosaur tracks found in countries across our planet. Really, what is mentioned here is a mere drop in the knowledge bucket of what this essential book has to offer to those of us who realize that dinosaur trackws are the most direct 'window' from which we can 'view' the paleo-environments, life styles, and dynamic abilities of the living dinosaurs that left an abundance of tracks across our world. Do not make the very serious mistake of not having this volume on your book shelf when, inevitably, it becomes no longer available. Serious about dinosaur track studies? If so, GET THIS BOOK! It is a reference that will be become a treasure over the years.
