This book provided especially good insights into the life and times of John Jay. I especially enjoyed the introduction by Richard B. Morris.

Writtern so that "regular folk" can understand it, The K Factor tells you how to lower your blood pressure and feel better right away.

Not wanting the side-effects of medication to control my hypertension (which had reached 185/99) I searched for natural remedies. This book tells it all, naturally. There are even lists of what you CAN eat (and cannot) and still keep the pressure down. My heart feels healthier, I have no more headaches, more energy, and a much better disposotion since I started controling my K factor to lower my pressure (which now averages 127/79).

Every hypertension patient should read this book.

This beautifully written guide can serve as a spring board for ones own personal reflections. In this world that is constantly challenging one to find their own inner source of peace the Spriritual Exercises will be a valuable tool for any student of thought and prayerful consideration.

This book is a must-buy, or at least a must-have. If you like logic, you must have this book -- for it'll give you what you like. If you don't like logic, you must have this book -- for it'll snap you out of your (misplaced) dislike. You either like logic or you don't. You figure it out!

Truly, this book is a wonderful collection suited for anyone competent in classical first-order logic. Indeed, it serves as a rather nice second step into the world of logic beyond classical first-order. At the very least the book offers the best (informal) introductions to Goedel's celebrated theorem, which is worth a lot.

Anyone familiar with Boolos' work will know that this book is a treat. Anyone not familiar with Boolos' work must learn; and ~Logic, Logic, and Logic~ is a great place to start.

I've had the privilege of studying George Herbert with Professor Strier at the University of Chicago. I use the word "privilege" because his work on the poet is insightful, accurate, and--to use an adjective not commonly used to describe literary criticism--heartfelt.

In _Love Known_, Strier reads Herbert as espousing a very Lutheran conception of salvation. At the time of its publication (1983), the book broke new ground, marking a departure from the then-prevalent view that Herbert was a sort of Anglo-Catholic. Strier suggests that placing Herbert in a Lutheran/Reformation framework serves to illuminate his poetry in fresh ways. He's right. Strier's reading of Herbert's poetry--always careful, with that immediate resonance with the reader that good criticism always achieves--has profoundly increased my understanding and my appreciation of _The Temple_. In fact, after reading _Love Known_, it's difficult to imagine that the view of Herbert as an Anglo-Catholic could have dominated scholarship at all.

This book is another in my "read-aloud classic" list. It has beautiful illustrations which enhance the mystery of the story nicely. It brings Native American traditions into a modern setting very effectively. And it does a nice job of never coming right out and saying the man is the raven, but leaves you with the feeling of wind from a Raven's wings across the back of your neck -- it gave me shivers! Take care of animals, take care of traditions, and know who you are, are this book's implied morals. A very neat book.

This book is really well done by Proff Leo and Thomas! It goes in greaat deapths of detail about the history and the argumentative sides of the Miranda debate! Ive also taken the criminology class with prof leo and this book it great for academic reading and for leisure reading.

This book is exceptional, I hope it will be reissued soon. Ashurst was a front line soldier in both the first and second Lancashire Fusilier Battalions in World War 1. He wrote this book back in the 1920's but it was not published until the 1980's. He discusses his participation as a front line rifleman at both the First and second battles at Ypres. In the latter he was gassed in the first ever chemical attack in the history of warfare. He was then sent to Gallipoli where he missed the tail end of the fighting. However he was a participant in the battle of the Somme from the first day. His stirring depiction of that day and the brutal attempt to hold the sunken road are disturbing in there brutality. For those not familiar with the first day on the Somme(July 1, 1916) I strongly recommend Martin Middlebrooks book The First Day On the Somme. Over 19,000 British soldiers were killed on that one day and another 40,000 wounded. So the recollections of a survivor of that day are very rare. Especially an account as well written as this one. he would then be wounded on a working party in no mans land and sent back to England then followed another brief stint in the lines until he was sent to Officer Candidate school, this effectively ended his combat in World War 1. George Ashurst came from a poor family and accounts from these men are rare, especially one that articualtes both the horror of combat and inevitable malaise which befalls all fighting men in these circumstances.
