Lets us eavesdrop on a conversation between two giants.
I thoroughly enjoyed paging through these fascinating letters; for any student of the Unconsious, this collection offers exciting material. At times, some material can seem superfluous. Perhaps a little editorial massaging could have arranged the letters in such a way as to make accessing the kernels and nuggets of Freudian and Jungian thought a little easier for students and amateurs interested in quick quotes and primary reference material. But overall, the editors did a fantastic job--this book is a "dream." Interpret it as you wish.

Excellent pictures... lots of fun!
This book is a very nice depiction of life in Celtic times. It has easy to color pictures that are good for children, as well as adults. (In fact, I colored several pictures with my husband and we both had a good time!) The pictures depict rural, agricultural life -- working in the fields, around the house, with animals, etc. They also show the community spirit of the Celts. One image that DID disturb me was the picture of a "Wicker Man"-- a large, hollow statue made of wicker. Some historians think that the Wicker Man was used by the Celts to destroy their enemies. They would put live people in the Wicker Man and then light it on fire. The picture in the book DOES show live people inside the Wicker Man but they are not yet on fire. Other historians think that the Wicker Man may have been Roman propaganda. Either way, it might be a bit graphic for young children.

Good Content, Too Wordy
Wordy. That's what I would call this book. The content seems good. The practice problems are managable. Covers large amount of material. A one semester college course could expect to cover about a third of it.

A great second textbook in Philosophy of Science
This is a book to read once you already know a little about the classics of the field, or have perhaps read an introductory survey. Newton-Smith presents a clear and calm defense of scientific realism, based on the failings of the obvious rivals. It is well-written and lively; the target audience won't be scared by the mild spattering of formal logic.

Fears of Death and Dying helped by this book
While the back cover of the book comments about the value of this book as a manual for clergy, councilors, and speakers, I found it to be a good place for anyone to start, who desires to know more about Death and Dying. One can pick and choose from among the many writers on the subject that Professor Smith has critiqued. I might wish the book were longer and delved deeper into each layer of the subject, yet grateful that, by the brevity of space allotted to each portion, he has left it up to the reader to use this book as a beginning point from which to choose the direction to take in the "search" for some answers to the questions of meaning for life and death. An excellent book!

Sociology is the key
This is a great book for beginning students. I am just starting out in this field and this is my first class in the filed. When I first saw this book I was attracted to the cover and the design. It is a beautiful book and very colorful. This pages are also well presented with color and graphic design. The cover ripped the frist time I opened the book so be carefull with this. Although I'm not a teacher I believe that this book is a good source for education. This book can be used as an everyday clssroom book or as a distance learning text as I'm using it. The publishers have a web site that is full of teacher guides and questions for the students to help them with test and quizes. I believe that this text will become pertanent for educating at the college level.
Song of the Purple

Startling images will stop you cold.
Stacy Smith's poetry is fresh, young, and wild. At times you will feel like curling up in a weeping heap. Usually, you will glory in her strength. Some of the situations described are cryptic; the reader does not know which end is up until the last line, when the suggestions presented resonate far beyond the poem itself. The book is short, best read in one sitting, start to finish. The quick pace is further speeded along by punchy black and white photographs that are graphic poems in their own right.

If you thought they just build the Hubble Space Telescope and launched it, you're wrong. This book let you see what all such projects got to go through from the first bright idea and to the actual launch of an earth orbiting space vehicle. Sander Elvik, aerospace engineering student
