An absolute must for business people
5 Stars is not enough for this excellent book. I read this book for a entrepreneurial course a year ago. However, it was after the end of school that I fell in love with this book. It is truly helpful for anyone with a passion for business and entrepreneurialism.

Look for me in the future, Chris Philippi, future CEO.
I will be starting a marketing consulting firm based in Northern NJ soon. Be on the lookout, this book has that kind of influence.

Freedom
As a fifteen year veteran of entrepreneural ventures (all reasonably successful) and after scouring through scores of books on assessment, planning et al, this book leaves me speachless.

Explore the pages and you'll find yourself happy you found a modern, practical and valuable resource. Buy it, worth it's cost after 15 minuets!

A terrific resource for anyone planning a business.
I teach a course in Managing a Consulting Practice and consult to a wide range of organizations. This is probably the most practical resource I have come across that includes everything - from beginning with an idea for the business, to the basics of starting a business, to what it takes to plan for and run a successful business. The book is full of practical examples and short "Personal Workshops" (e.g., "Personal Workshop 24: Setting a Price Structure"). The book is a great resource for someone who has business experience but has never started or run a business, as well as someone with a great idea but no business experience. I highly recommend this book!

Rabbi Small Counts his Days!
There's no rabbi more famous in fiction that David Small! In this tres kosher series of the rabbi-as-detective, author Harry Kemelman has created one of the most interesting characters of this genre. In "Thursday the Rabbi Walked Out," Small becomes involved in another murder story--this time the victim is a notorious anti-Semite, and a number of his congregation are now suspects (they seem to be for good reason!). It is up to Small to match wits--and skill--with the actual murderer. (Billyjhobbs@tyler.net)

Certainly any of the "day" novels of Kemelman are a treat (the first was "Friday the Rabbi Slept Late") and on this particular "day" (Thursday) readers will not be disappointed. Kemelman's style is fast-paced and his detective revelations are logical, solid, and do not insult the reader. Clearly, he takes the time and patience to weave his tales--and they are worth the wait!

Another Kosher Mistery
If you like the Rabbi Small stories you will enjoy this one as well. It is not so good as the "Classic" Friday the rabbi slept late" but it is brilliant as well. Rabbi Small finds himself in troulbe (as usual): in a middle of a murder case and his job is in danger too. naturally he solves the problems with his clear logic, so you can count on the next stories.

A kosher mistery
If you like Rabbis Small misteries do not miss this one. The story is as usual: Rabbi Small's job in danger (he is going to be fired), and he is involved to a murder case. All good if ends good.

Positively Love it!
What can I say Big Eyes, Small mouth was like a gift from the gods. I was over at my brothers place for a weekend and he told me about this game. At that moment I made it my quest to get this book. You see I am a huge Otaku (Anime Fan). Well a roleplaying game that you get to roleplay an anime character well how could I not want to get it. I am also a very big person in RPGs as well I have been role playing for 12 years. Played Vampire, D&D 2ed & 3rd, Kindred of the east, Chtulhu, and others not going to name them all. But this RPG I now love more then all the others. The types of Genres and settings are limitless and the only limit you have is your own imagination. You can play anything from Big giant Mecha battles like you see in Robotech, Macross, and VOLTRON!! All the way to your supernatural horrors to even your fantasy worlds like D&D you could even have a game like Vampire. The Characters aren't limited to Races or classes like most games are. Its a very wonderful game. I recommend anyone who is creative and who loves anime to purchase this book. I even have people who hate anime interested in this game and they enjoy playing it. So buy a copy of this book you won't be disappointed.

This is the best! Read the review ok.
Where to begin, I have been a DM for it seems like eons, at least 10 years. In that time I have played DnD 1st edition, 2nd edition, and 3rd edition. Also I have played Palladium Fantasy, and Rifts, White Wolf's vampire and Exalted and Mage, Marvel Superheroes RPG 1st TSR edition, and Fuzion, Fudge and well you get the idea, basically everything that exists. In all that time I have never seen anything so easy to use and yet so great and all encompassing as BESM. This game system is very easy to use and can still simulate anything at all that you can think up. The game system is also very flexable and stable meaning that it is very easy to compare character's relative power levels. This might not sound like much but trust me it is. Also what really sold me is the fact that you can create Anything! A God or an intelligent football, anything! It's the best go get it and try it at once!

Be sure!
I made the mistake of purchasing this book because I was curious about Baltek products and how to use them. I think you can get that kind of information for free elsewhere (on the web or from Baltek).

HOWEVER, if you will be building a boat out of that materal, and you are sure of it, it appeared to be a very thorough explanation of the subject, and is likely a reference such a builder would really need to make the most of this material.

Great book on a time-saving process.
This book fully explains the Baltek method of boat building. The method is a real time saver over standard cold-molded planking methods and it results in a stronger hull. The method allows for construction of all hull shapes using ordinary tools. Check this out if you are considering new methods for boatbuilding.`

Terrific Read
I read this book in its entirety the day I received it in the mail. It is an incredible story, one that is told in a riveting narrative. I absolutely could not believe the lengths to which this oil company went to deny, delay, and stonewall the efforts of so many different people and organizations to hold them responsible for an underground oil spill they had undeniably caused. This book was an eye-opener. If you care about the environment, about energy, or about the law, read this book. I hope someone makes a movie out of this thing; it is such a great story.

How to win when the odds are 13 million to one.
Having had the privilege of proof-reading this book I came away
awestruck on how one man with a principle and fearless resolve
took on a task so humongous it staggers the imagination. The
shear complexity of tiptoeing through the morass of political
organizations and getting them to agree on one subject at the
same time without any ruffled ego's is amazing. Money, power, and
revenge all figure prominently in this titanic epic on how one
man started a snowball that took down a huge oil companie's oil
polution stance from "crumbs" to "total capitulation". Following
this scenario step by step through the court rulings and the
political shenanigans is quite a task for the reader and the
included diagrams help keep everything straight.
Just authoring this book had to be a nightmare of data collection and review.
My work invloved repair of electronic communications terminals
with hundreds of thousands of wires and potential problems and
the complexity of which is on par with what transpired in this
book. I was very impressed on how the story was assembled and
presented and I do not think there are many authors around who
could handle the complexities and present them as well as they were.

The Perfect Gift for ANY Mariner!
I received this book as a gift from a non-sailor for Christmas. At a quick first glance and once-over I thought 'I already know this stuff' and the book sat on my bookshelf until now.

As a person who has raced dinghies, catamarans and cruised on sailboats up to 80 feet, I thought I had learned enough of the small details that come with time on the water. I knew, of course, that there is a great deal more to know but I never thought it would come in the form of a simple book.

This book has hundreds of nuggets of information that will make your life easier, more fun and help you look like you know what you are doing, even if you are new to boating.

And if you DO know what you are doing, this is still a great book. I guarantee that there will some several nuggets for anyone and well worth the small price.

Buy this book for yourself of for someone else, you will not regret it.

Good Boatkeeping is the best!
Regardless if you are a sail-boater or power boater, Zora and David Aiken have written a must read, must own book for evry boater. Be it day sailing, cruising, travel, vacation, Good Boatkeeping has tip upon tip that actually makes all phases of boating more fun. The easy to read, well thought out book has helpful hints ranging from mechanics, to cooking, storage, on board entertainment...you think of it, they've thought it through and then some! It's a great gift for every boater.

An American Fairy Tale
Carl Sandburg's Huckabuck Family will delight and charm children of every age with a story of family pride and optimism. When the Huckabucks Nebraska barn burns down and all their popcorn pops, they decide to go on the road and wait for a sign to tell them when to come back home. Each year they move to a new town and Papa finds a new job. The Huckabucks may have good luck, or bad, but they always have each other. David Small's illustrations add just the right touch to the story and are so detailed that even the farm animals have facial expressions. So, sit down and take a trip across the country and back with the Huckabucks. I promise, you won't be disappointed. This is a wonderful book the whole family can share.

Small's whimsical pictures are perfectly suited to Sandburg
This book is a satisfying follow-up to David Small's last twobooks, The Gardener & The Library. Though this is an old story its optimistic message suits Small's whimsical style beautifully. I'm thoroughly confused by the review in Kirkus that criticizes the repetitive nature of the names--this is part of Sandburg's poetic form--as well as the "pointless" nature of the Huckabuck family's travels, which is actually the whole point of the story. One must take a change in luck in stride, go out and find one's new fortune, and you may even find yourself back home having learned a thing or two. Cheers (& 5 stars) to the Huckabucks, Sandburg, and David Small.

Seeing life through new eyes
Hannah has traveled with her mother and her mother's friend Maggie to the city. For an Amish girl from a small community, the city is big and full of strange and wonderful things. They go to the top of hig buildings, to marvelous stores, to big parks, the aquarium, the atr museum,on a boat ride and into a grand church. While Hannah is enchanted and enthralled by all the new sites, each new site reminds her of things at home she loves. Written as diary entries by Hannah during her adventures, this book manages to capture the wonder of a young girl in a new enviroment, and her thankfulness for the simple ways at home. Once again Sarah Stewart has crafted a wonderful storyline and David Small has turned what is in the mind's eye into enchanting illustrations. A wonderful book to read aloud, and to be enjoyed by all ages.

Wonderful.....
"Dear Diary, The luckiest girl on this good earth is writing to you tonight..." So begins The Journey, Sarah Stewart's lovely story of Hannah, an Amish girl on her first trip to Chicago. Each night, before she falls asleep, Hannah writes about her day and marvels at all the wonders of the big city, the fancy department store with it's frilly dresses, the aquarium and public library, the enormous cathedral with its loud choir, the cars and hundreds of people rushing here and there... And each makes her remember and appreciate something from her simple life at home, trying on a homespun dress, fishing in the pond, praying silently in the small wooden church, quilting with the ladies from other farms... David Small's expressive and detailed artwork take readers from the busy, brightly colored streets of Chicago, to the quiet, softer and subdued life of Hannah's Amish farm. Together, this award winning duo of Stewart and Small have authored a gentle, understated picture book, perfect for youngsters 6-10, that is sure to become a treasured classic in the years ahead.

Unicellular life and a few multiciellular fungi too
Easy to read discussion of various topics concerning prokaryotic and eukaryotic unicellular life, although multicellular fungi and learning in simple invertebrates are also considered.

two thumbs up!
An insightful, well organized, and superlatively illustrated basic text book in microbial life (Dusenbery includes some more complex forms, using size as a determinant). Written for the science literate layperson, it presents, among many other things, a view of the physical universe of microbial life that had, for me, more than a few "ah, ha's!" My son, a high school junior, also read and appreciated it. I found it in the local library and liked it so much, I'm buying it at Amazon.com and just stopped here to offer this very positive review.

The Night Sky 30°-40° (Small)
Published in Map by David Chandler Co. (01 January, 1998)
Author: David S. Chandler
Amazon base price: $7.50
Average review score:

A useful tool- convenient; practical; durable.
A rotating starfinder like this one (often referred to as a "Planisphere") effectively shows how the night sky looks at any given time on any night of the year. For instance, if it's 10 p.m. on April 30th, just line up April 30th on the outer wheel with 10 p.m. on the inner wheel. The starfinder will thus display the position and orientation of the constellations that are visible to you at that time. As time passes, celestial objects "drift" from east to west due to the Earth's rotation. Occasional adjustment (rotating the planisphere's inner wheel to keep up with passing time) will sustain an accurate representation. As with any night-time observing aid, it should be viewed with red light.

Planispheres are generally manufactured in incremental versions to accommodate various bandwidths of latitudes from which to use them. For northern latitudes they are most commonly offered in 20/30; 30/40; and 40/50-degree versions. The Night Sky "30-40" matches latitudes from 30 to 40 degrees North, i.e.: - the mid-southern United States. You should select the one that brackets your particular latitude.

Classic boundaries of the constellations are highlighted with lines connecting principal stars down to 5th magnitude. A few of the more significant celestial objects are represent as well, i.e.: - M31. Right Ascension and Declination scales are provided. The front side shows the sky as you face north. Turning the planisphere over (from front to back) shows the sky as it looks facing south - and without distortion.

A good starfinder is a useful tool, and Chandler's Night Sky planisphere has become my personal favorite. It makes for a good learning device as well, and is the planisphere of choice for Terrence Dickinson ("The Backyard Astronomer's Guide"). It is plastic coated, weatherproof, and very durable. Mine has suffered some clumsy mishaps on a concrete observing pad and endured countless hundreds of dew-polluted evenings, but still looks and functions quite well.

Whatever the venue - binocular, telescope, or just plain naked-eye stargazing, I highly recommend Chandler's Night Sky planisphere. I believe it to be the best choice available.

An excellent tool for learning and using the night sky!
Dave Chandler's Night Sky has been a useful toll for me for many years of comet hunting. I began using it 20 years ago to determine what stars I should be seeing near the horizon at the evening and morning twilights. It is very simple to use, both during the day and at night.
