This book offers real comfort. The author's voice is sincere and heartfelt, and his real-life experiences strengthen the book's message of hope. The following paragraph is typical of his positive faith: "Our responsibility is to hold fast to God, to snuggle close so nothing can come between us. His part is to cover us with His love, to encourage and nourish us with His life that we may be fruitful in our service to Him, no matter what conditions surround us." God loves us unconditionally and nothing can come between us and God's love--that is this book's message.

I was touched deeply by this book. I read it with tears streaming down my cheeks and felt the author's terrible heartbreak and yet, through all that he had experienced, his unshakeable faith in God comes through loud and clear. As I've begun to share this book with friends who are grieving, I keep getting requests about where they can get more copies. The chapters are short and easy to read and before you know it, you've read the entire book. I'd suggest buying several copies because you'll want to share it.

Reading this book is like sitting down with your grandfather, some kind, wise old man who knows what he's talking about because he's lived it all. When he says that there's hope even in the darkest, most awful grief, I believe him--because his own experience proves his credibility. This is a wonderful book for anyone who is experiencing any kind of loss or grief or even discouragement. God's unconditional love jumps out at the reader from every page. It's the sort of book you read straight through--and then pick up and read a page here and a page there over and over. I highly recommend it and thank the author for caring enough to share his faith with others who are going through pain.

A wonderful balance of readability and depth, this book is the first book I recommend to those interested in incorporating herbal medicines.

I suspected when I ordered the book that the dictionary format would make the book a useful basic reference, but otherwise rather a dry read. How wrong I was. The ample bold-typed cross-references mean there is an infinite variety of reading paths, allowing for easy digestion of the information in manageable chunks. This is best illustrated with anexample.

Looking up "migraines" to see if I could so something to help my wife, I found just over half a page of information, starting with types of migraine and possible causes. Mills went on to discuss the differences between "hot" migraines and "cold" migraines and how this distinction will affect the choice of treatment. I determined from this information that my wife's migraines are of the "hot" type. Mills states that "bitter" and "relaxant" or "sedative"remedies are most likely to be of benefit. Following the reference to "bitter" remedies, I found more than a page of information including a list of 24 herbs that fit into this category, many of them with their own entries elsewhere in the book...

At first glance, this may seem to be a long-winded way of finding the information you need, but it's actually surprisingly quick. More to the point, by negotiating your own reading path you actually arrive at a deeper understanding than ispossible with better-known texts, where usually a single prescription is given for each named disease and it's usually impossible to judge why the author chose a particular herb in preference to another. Going back to the "bitters" entry, bold-typed terms here include volatile oils, alkaloids, anorexia, dyspepsia, fever management, food allergies, gall-bladder disease, liver disease, hypoglycaemia, diabetes, adaptogenic, peptic ulcers, and tonic. Following any of these links leads in turnto unexpected discoveries.

In my view, this book dispels the notion that the general reader needs lots of pictures and colour to maintain interest. However, those who differ with me on this point may like to buy David Hoffman's "The Complete Illustrated Holistic Herbal", which, in addition to these enhancements and its more traditional organization, includes a section on growing herbs. Veterans of the Dictionary, however, may find Hoffman's book a little less than satisfying as regardsthe depth of the explanations.

Those wanting to take their study to a deeper level may like to get the more expensive and scholarly Principles and Practice of Phytotherapy: Modern Herbal Medicine by Simon Mills and Kerry Bone.

I am so impressed with this book that I really recommend it to anyone interested in herbal medicine. It is very easy to use as it is arranged alphabetically (as the title of dictionary suggests) and it allows you to look up either the common or botanical name of the plant and gives all the essential information regarding the properties, appearance, habitat, actions and usages (including dosage). The book is definitely an asset to any personal reference library.

I purchased this book after borrowing one from the library. It has been the most dependable source of information for my recovery. I have been suffering food and chemical toxicity for twenty years(undiagnosed until one year ago prompted by my own investigations) and although I had already gleaned some ideas for recovery from the internet this book followed all the principles I obtained from the immunological, gatroenterological, neurotoxicological and physiological web sources. I cannot emphasise the value of this tome enough. It is marvellous that information exists other than that available from GP's which I found to be nil or plain verbal abuse. This book is for those who believe in their own life and health and don't just want to entrust these to GP's who basically only offer palliative care or ignorance.

As someone who works privately with graduate students, helping them design, develop, and write research papers and dissertations, I highly recommend this book. When students contact me in regard to their research, I recommend that they buy this book, as it "demystifies" the research and dissertation process. As the title states, the book offers a "soup to nuts" approach by anticipating and answering the questions that students have about the research process. It is a valuable resource.

I'm working on my dissertation and needed some plain talk to give me a better understanding of the best way to complete it. Other books were too confusing but this was easy reading! New PhD on the way!!!!!!

Having met the lady, I now understand the powerful message she has included in this book aimed at assisting the researcher and focusing our efforts on preparation and "F.I.S.H" ing....she calles it! "..finding it somewhere henceforth!". She truly takes you by the hand, leads you step by step, and helps those cognitive juices flow , while assisting you at arriving at your journeys end. An excellent book and a must for every beginner ( and experienced!) research orientated person or doctoral candidate!

This book is a great way to finally beat a game that would usually take a long time to figure out.

As a person who never studied much science, I have always been interested in the origins our world and how it came into being. The theories of earth science were explained thoroughly even to a layman like myself. This book has convinced me to delve even deeper into geology and seek the answers to the creation of my local surroundings. I now wish had chosen my university courses differently when I was younger. Bravo!!

This book is great if you are looking to explore the origins of the earth, and what makes the earth work. It explains all the steps that made life on earth possible. Each chapter contains thorough information on different subjects from the ice-age to the actuall formation of the solar-system itself. I think this is an awsome book. I understood all of it and I am 15!!! Buy this book!! Its great!!

This is a must-have! I'm a geologist myself and although Ihaven't seen the television series on which the book is based (I haveno tv), most of my colleagues were watching and raving about it with great admiration. The book was immediately ordered for the library of our institution.

But don't take my word for it!

On June 2, 1999 David Sington, who is the producer and writer of the series and co-writer of the book, received the Sullivan Award at the Hynes Convention Center in Boston. The Sullivan Award is presented annually by the American Geophysical Union (AGU) for reporting that makes earth science accessible and interesting to the general public. It is named for its first winner, the late Walter Sullivan of The New York Times. Sington was the first broadcaster and first non-American to win the award in its 11 year history.

His name is associated with other great works related to geology and other sciences as well. Both authors know what they're talking about and had co-operated with many scientists on this production. A wide range of geological issues is tackled and they're all tackled admirably.

And I'm not in any way associated with the authors either. I'm just very happy to see earth science treated this way. END

This book has several levels to play from, two hands, one hand notes, and one hand numbers, all together. This makes it easy to advance with both hands. For the more experienced player the tunes have the chords and enough changes in key to play a lot of nice songs quickly. Has sections for whatever mood you may feel like playing that day, such as show tunes, hits, and seasonal favorites. Large for easy reading and well worth adding to your collection.

If you like the classic songs from popular music to show tunes in an easy to read format, this is for you. It gives suggested settings for keyboard and melody line with chords. It also has easy to play treble and bass, but experienced musicians will be able to fill in as desired.

This book has a chatty, at times even gossipy tone, that makes it read like you're listening to a very knowledgeable friend.

What I find amusing, and enlightening, in the photographs is how English homes can be so unlike an American's idea of "rich people's decorating." The wallpaper can be faded and peeling, the slipcovers faded and shrunken, the furniture needs refinishing, the rugs are unravelling, and things don't always match well. An "accidental" style, rather. But it's elegant and comfortable in ways that rooms with brand-new "matchy-matchy" things never are. And the architecture, no matter how grand or modest the house, is always classy.

The English just have a way with style, which any Anglophile will recognize and love in this book.

An excellent guide to the english country style tradition. It stands out in a field that is already crowded with good works, and at this point is to be considerer a classic.

Knowing that I love English Country style homes, my husband gave this book to me as a Christmas gift. What he did not know was that I had ordered it at the same bookstore and had not been able to pick it up. When I opened it on Christmas morning, what a surprise! This book gives lovely accounts of living life in a true English Country house. With scores of rooms to inspire your own decorating it truly tells the English Country story. Opening this book is like taking a journey to a beautiful land in another time. I highly recommend it and have seen a copy in many, many homes in articles of decorating magazines. It seems everyone has a copy of this fabulous book.

I went on vacation in Morocco 3 years ago and this book just makes me want to go back . I thought i saw everything there is to see there but there are just so many beutiful places i havent seen that are in this book i am planning to go back again next summer or spring

It's not a guide book per say as others by Cadogan or Lonely Planet. However it is a beautiful book full of gorgeous colorful pictures of Morocco. For those who are interested in travelling to Morocco, I'd recommend that you pick up this book or even look through it at your local bookstore. The pictures are very selective in what they want to show you of Morocco but very alluring!! I'm currently planning a trip to the mystical country and have used this book as a source - where to go and stay. The descriptions are brief but the pictures says it all!!

In fact, I think it's safe to say that the pictures is this book are so beautful that even if you never thought about going to Morocco, the pictures will surely inspire to take that trip someday.

I already owned several books about estate planning when I bought Estate Planning For Dummies. The books I had were pretty comprehensive, but they went into far more detail than I really needed, and I wound up not doing as much as I should have since I was more confused than anything trying to digest all the different kinds of trusts, etc. However, this book gets right to the heart of the various topics it covers (and is pretty funny in some places, too!). It doesn't try to be an encyclopedia or a book for estate planning lawyers. But it succeeds at what it does apparently intend to do, which is help the average person like me understand just what I need to concentrate on for my estate planning and what I don't need to worry about. Bill Gates and Warren Buffett wouldn't get much out of reading it (though they might find it entertaining) but for the other 99% of us it's the perfect book to help figure out where we are in estate planning and what else we need to do. I definitely recommend it, it's very easy to read.

I read a lot of Dummies books, and one thing I really like about them is that they are usually well organized. Estate Planning for Dummies is no exception. The authors start with relatively simple concepts like just what is your estate and how to figure out how much it's worth, and then move on to wills. There is lots I didn't know about wills, such as what they discuss about probate. Then they move into trusts, and do a good job since they get right to the heart of the matter and help you figure out whether or not trusts even make sense, depending on your particular situation. I also thought the chapters on estate taxes were well done, too. I knew about the federal estate tax, which doesn't apply to me, but I was unaware of gift taxes, state inheritance taxes, and the estate recovery act.

All in all, I now have a much better idea of estate planning and even picked up a few hints to talk to my lawyer about for adjusting my will, which I already had but hadn't updated in a long time. That's another thing the authors do well, which is mention over and over how you need to regularly update your will, your insurance, and everything else that's part of your estate planning.

Just the information alone about the federal estate tax trap on how my life insurance policy was set up, and the estate taxes that would have unnecessarily been owed, made this book the best thing I could have found for my estate planning. I was also getting overwhelmed with all of the ads I'd hear about on the radio and see in the newspaper about living trusts and was nervous that people were just trying to sell me something. After reading this book, I have a much better idea of living trusts and all kinds of other trusts, and feel much more confident deciding what makes sense for me.

Another thing I really liked is that the authors very clearly describe what you can and should do yourself, and what you should work on with (as they put it) your estate planning team (lawyer, accountant, etc.).

The good news is that after reading this book, I now have a much better idea of what my estate planning needs to include. The bad news is that I also realize how much I still have to do! Fortunately, I have a pretty good roadmap now. I strongly recommend this book to anyone who wants to get a handle on everything that estate planning includes (which I didn't realize was nearly as much as the authors cover).

Reading this book again, as I usually do on New Years Day, I started having an ether image of Doctor Faustroll, Poet and 'Pataphysician, meeting Dr. Norem, Personality Psychologist. Not to debate, but to discuss. I feel that Alfred Jarry and the good Dr. Faustroll would both understand and find etherially amusing the absurd title of her book -- the positive power of negative thinking. And they could help explain to the rest of us how psychology works. That would be nice. Or perhaps we need 'Patapsychology to stand above Freud's Metapsychological Papers. In any case, we need Dr. Faustroll to be perceptive.

This is a very great book, but I could hardly recommend it. Would you enjoy it? I think it is skies above the Ubu books in its range of vision, and I certainly didn't see any baboons with gluteal musculature grafted to their cheeks starring as commentator in those more famous works . . . well, I don't know what to say this "sort of thing" is exactly . . . if you are unfamiliar with this man (a drinker in the line of Rabelais, except I would say he was much more sincerely dedicated, a scholar, a scientist, a metaphysical swine, a bicycler, an eccentric above the heavyweights of French nincompoops, a novelist, -- also he did decent woodcuts, too) and his work then I would recommend the Supermale as a better beginning. If that is indeed your brand of entertainment, than hoist this flag up on the mast of your soft and sticky palm that never picked an axe to chop a block or made a fist to fight for your principles nor did anything else in all your life except to pick up another foreign book we can all be grateful for to have been translated, and sail it gently down the seas of your eyes until you land where you were looking for . . . this is a traveler's book.

Faustroll is a Hallucinogenic cross between Lewis Carroll & Jules Verne. Magnificently dense style of a prose poem, images as strange as Lautremont's. It also reminded me of Flann O'Brien's Third Policeman, the only book that has done that.
