Small Peanuts

Brightly colored, and a lot of fun! When I was a child, I absolutely loved the Peanuts, and I am so pleased that my own children have now fallen in love with those same funny characters. This book is large and attractive, with brightly colored pictures that are sure to please the young reader (and Peanuts fans of all ages)! My children and I highly recommend this book to you!

"Who's creating a disturbance? I'm a pilot with the Allies!"The book has no introduction, afterword, or anything except various strips of the adventures of Charlie Brown, Snoopy, and other members of the world's worst Little League team. Cool. The strips include, among other things, Charlie Brown vs. the kite-eating tree; Charlie Brown at the psychiatric help booth when Lucy's assistant (Snoopy) is filling in; Lucy as arm-wrestling champ; Charlie Brown's brief assignment to the school safety patrol. In addition to a lesser-known thread featuring Linus having talked Peppermint Patty into waiting for the Great Pumpkin (the famous one being the one with Sally), some more conventional letters to Santa Claus are thrown in. Some threads with a point (I can't call them *serious*, since they're still funny): Charlie Brown dealing with Sally when she starts lying to her teacher.
And Linus built armies of snowmen long before Calvin and Hobbes thought of it.

Contains strips not easy to find elsewhereThose who are not staunch fans of Peanuts, however, may wish to look elsewhere, because the strips in this book date from the early 1980's, which is a period when Peanuts started to decline in popularity. Strips from the late 1950's through the early 1970's have the broadest public appeal. One book you may want to consider is "Peanuts Treasury," which reprints some of the best Peanuts strips from the early 1960's.
