a marvelous book
"Diamonds are Forever" is a marvelous book for anyone who loves baseball. I have lent it many times to my piano students and their parents, and they delight in the colorful paintings, witty drawings, artful photographs, deeply felt poems, and whimsical essays.

I believe that baseball has something for everyone, on many levels from the most superficial "three strikes and you're out" to the statistical for those devoted to numbers, to the "head"
game", the insiders' level that develops with thought and experience. By the time our three daughters played high school softball, they had learned the inside game quite well and found competitive joy in it.

"Diamonds are Forever" is a great coffee table book, but in addition to the wonderful visuals, it's a good read. Highly recommended!

Essential Email Standards: RFCs and Protocols Made Practical

Essential Email Standards: RFCs and Protocols Made Practical
Although Essential Email Standards is intended for the Internet messaging technician, even non-techies like myself can benefit from its exhaustive and comprehensive coverage of all the major Internet protocols and RFCs. Loshin provides the latest information on all the Internet messaging standards, as well as a complete description of the standards making process.

The book is also extremely well organized and laid out, with plenty of diagrams, tables, sidebars, and notes. The only disappointing aspect of the book is the skimpy index at the end. Perhaps this is the publisher's way of encouraging readers to use the CD-ROM and Adobe PDF Reader supplied with the book.

Indeed, searching for key words and phrases with the Adobe Reader is a breeze--you just slide the CD-ROM into your computer, double click the installation file, and away you go. I found one of the RFCs I was looking for by simply clicking one of the hyperlinks embedded in the digital copy of the text.

This review concludes that Essential Email Standards succeeds in making highly technical email standards practical and easily accessible.

With its beautiful images inspired by Feng Shui symbols
Peter and Eileen Connolly have artfully collaborated to produce a tarot deck that superbly combines the traditional elements of tarot divination with an ancient Chinese spiritual wisdom embodying the principles of Form School Feng Shui (balancing environment, surroundings, materials, and colors). This unique tarot deck is based on the Feng Shui philosophy that a "chi" or flow of energy can be directed in certain ways by the optimal placement of large or small items to balance yin and yang, thereby creating a more favorable environment for people living or working in a particular space. With its beautiful images inspired by Feng Shui symbols and Chinese art enhancing the tarot experience, Feng Shui Tarot is a very highly recommended addition students of metaphysics in general, and to any tarot reader's collection in particular.

Lonely orphan boy escapes from institution
Paul is a boy on the edge of adolescence, troubled that he's an orphan living in an uncaring institution for boys. He's not loved, not wanted, and not cared for. His only escape is in solitary sex, a few minutes respite from a bleak and desperate existence. The other boys engage in brutal relationships, for which Paul has no taste.

Symbolic of the early 1970's, when institutionalization was the norm, the novel reflects the worst of institutionalized child care.

Paul escapes, for a twisted life of freedom yet one just as hard as the one he left. He's searching for freedom, as well as to belong to someone, to love and be loved. This is a hard tale of growing up. A book for all those who would love a boy, and hate their brutal treatment.

GREAT IDEAS
This strong precise outlook reflects different aspects of different sides of the business spectrum. It's a truly positive look at successful businesses and the great minds behind them. Grove, Smith, Lynch, Rowland, & Volcker all share insights & directions in a volatile era. With Gretchen Morgenson, Senior Editor at Forbes magazine, letting these truly gifted individuals openly express ideas, predictions and success fortitudes. Forbes Great Minds made a lasting impression on me. It was great to listens to these fascinating people in an informal interview. To pick up one new idea and one new lesson is worth the time spent, but too generate the detailed information they provided is extraordinary.

Excellent !!! Covers everything (almost)!!!
As a beginner in the area of fMRI research (just started my Ph.D.- engineering - image analysis), I found this book to be a complete and comprehensive intro to the subject, written by the leaders in this field form all over the world. It covers everything in the right amount to give you an understanding of what is involved in Functional MRI. However, no one book can cover everything in this subject just because of its multidisciplinary nature that ranges from neuroscience to engineering and physics. It also covers some areas more in more depths than others. I found the physics part to be a little weak and not very well explained. The rest of the book is just Excellent. If you need to go deeper into any one single subject like neuroscience, physiology, image registration ...etc the book will point you in the right direction to get this info from the top people in their respective fields.

Lush, colorful artworks revolutionizing modern painting
Paul Gauguin was at the heart of the Post-Impressionist movement with his lush, colorful artworks revolutionizing modern painting a the turn of the 19th Century. Largely self-taught in a diversity of media including oil painting, printmaking, and ceramics, Gauguin came to his career as a Parisian artist relatively late in life, and went on to paint subjects drawn from where he would live ranging from Brittany and Martinique, to Tahiti, and the Marquesas islands. In Gauguin, art expert Britt Salvesen drew from research developed by Douglas W. Druick and Peter Kort Zegers, enhanced with 79 superbly presented illustrations of which 52 are in color and 27 are duotone. Gauguin is a very highly recommended addition to personal, academic, and community library art history reading lists and reference collections in general, as well as being strongly commended to students of the life and work of Paul Gauguin in particular.

Wow! Amazingly uplifting and easy to read. I am revived!
I picked this book up by chance, randomly opened it and began to read and just could not put it down. Anytime I encounter a problem now instead of thinking the worst like I used to I realize that God is up to something great! I have had many hurts and betrayals in my life and this book helped me to understand these events from the proper perspective. I have already seen more victories in my life because of this new perspective and I am certain more will come. Mr. Evans, I will seek out more of your books in the future. God really has used you mightily through this work. Thank you!

Photographic chronicle of a historic replica's construction
This book provides a fascinating photographic chronicle of the construction of a replica of the ship that brought settlers to Jamestowne, Virgina. Seeing how the ship was constructed gives the reader profound respect for the original shipbuilders, the modern shipbuilders preserving ancient techniques, and those hardy souls who made the voyage to the New World. This book should be reissued!

Excellent art book
What a wonderful book! I couldn't imagine such an espectacular book about one of my favourite paiters: Rubens. It's a very nice printed book, with plenty of images from the Maria dei' Medici Gallery of the Musée du Louvre. The text is wonderful. A "Must" book if you are in love with the Flemish paintings of the XVII century. Don't loose this opportunity!
