Superb Illustrations and Moving Story
I bought this book several years ago and it has been a while since I read it last time. When I pulled it out from my bookshelf today and read it again, I was still amazed by the story and especially the illustration of this book. The masquerade in this picture book is so fascinating. The masks, costumes and the way they are presented really allures you back to the time and place this story happened. If you are planning to visit Venice, you may want to read this book and get some ideas about this Venetian folktale.
Beautiful story, gorgeous artwork
The story is reasonably simple but it's beautiful and magical. The artwork is unbelievable. I judge books by their covers, and this one passes!

Wonderful!
This collection of Chopin's waltzes and scherzos is excellent. The waltzes are perfect for anyone from the intermediate-grade pianist to the professional performer, and the scherzos are dramatic, emotional pieces suitable for advanced pianists. The book itself is put together well so that it won't fall apart (as so many other piano books of mine have).
Can't Go Wrong With This Edition
For Students and Professionals alike, you cannot go wrong buying this edition of Chopin Walzes and Scherzos. They are from a respected source, priced right, and printing is clear and easy to read.

Lean and Mean, with all the basics you want!
This book perfectly meets my needs for a 'cliff notes' type of electrical summary and reference covering all the common and general applications and concerns. This book offers the most practical material I've found published to date on this subject.
Wiring Simplified
My father bought me my first copy of this book over 20 years ago and he bought his further back than that. Ever since we never miss a revised edition, we both look foward to the new one and use it. It is well written and easy to follow. We both went from amateur to professional electricians on this book. So if you know alot or a little about electricity, this is a must have.

Superb!!!
The most original book I've read in years... 6 chapters, each written in a different personal pronoun. The most revealing and true story about advertising and the real world situation!

For all you cynical media types
Frederic Beigbeder writes a refreshing and witty observation of his life as an advertising creative. He wants out of his hyped and glossed over career and tries hard to get the boot from his life of money, women, fast cars and cocaine. A self inflicted, self pitying, loathsome, melodramatic and hilariously funny tale of one man's road to re-invention. It's a great read, especially if you have experience in the industry - you will identify with this novel immediately. A good laugh with critical undertones.
Applications of Item Response to Theory to Practical Testing Problems
Published in Hardcover by Lawrence Erlbaum Assoc (1980)
Amazon base price: $69.95
Average review score:
a classic
In this book one of the founders of modern test theory concisely describes many of the most important issues facing psychologists today. Even two decades later, it is still quite applicable. The only negative thing I can think to say is that it is quite concise, using equations in preference to lengthy prose, and yet leaves out proofs. Also, multidimensional and polytomous models and not described.

A beautiful work of the imagination
Frederic Prokosch wrote this imaginary journey from Lebanon across Asia to Hanoi in 1931 before he ever set foot in Asia. In the novel, the narrator, a young American, travels in catch-as-catch-can manner across the exotic continent. The landscape descriptions are extraordinary. Everywhere he meets with adventure and exotic characters who lament the end of Asia as they know it (this in 1931!). The novel was a bestseller in 1934. I nominate it as the greatest forgotten novel of the 20th Century.

The Best Atlas for the Basics
If simplicity and clarity are what you are looking for, then this is your book. Meyer takes all the standard approaches (pterional, orbital-frontal, etc.) and superbly illustrates them into a simple step by step manner. A chapter begins typically with basic discussion on indications and pertinent anatomy. This is followed by step by step illustrations from the skin incision to projections of various aneurysms or tumor removal. Also included are transphenoidal approaches along with percutaneous treatment for trigeminal neuralgia. Some of my favorite illustrations are the cranial base triangles (glassock's, parkinson's, etc) which are difficult to explain, but become simplistic with the excellent illustrations. Because of the book's clarity, 15 minutes of reading a chapter will make you very familiar with any of the procedures. This book is intended and suceeds in concisely providing the essential information for the neurosurgery resident. When I was a junior resident, my chief let me in on this treasure of a book. I choked on the price, but I never have regreted having this valuable resource.

Great
This edition of Chopin's Ballades is great. Notes are printed clearly. Fingerings are not confusing. Ballades are quite difficult so this book is suitable for late-intermediate to advanced pianists.
