I have always loves Blake - in particular the facsimile editions with Blake's watercolor designs bordering the beautiful copper-plate text, but nowhere have I been struck by the power of his writing to the extent that I have by this volume. The layout that Dr. Diamond has chosen adds immeasurably to the force of Blake's words. The imagery in these passages leaps off the page, and the reader is given a compelling sense of the creative visions that must have inspired Blake to write.

This is a wonderful collection of Blake's later poems is specifically edited to enhance their therapeutic power and comprehensibility. This anthology, more than any other I have come across, helps to make these obscure works accessible; and the layout and punctuation has deepened my experience of them.

I love this book. I keep it by my armchair and open it when there's a quiet moment. And when I do, the power of Blake comes to me and helps me throughout my day. Only Blake speaks with such passion and strength, and his poetry is presented here unadulterated by titles, footnotes or page the poetry in landscape format so that Blake's long lines need not be broken. Whatever your previous experience of poetry, this book will enhance your life in a way that only such a distillation of Blake could achieve

For the afficionado of the political genre, there is no better book than this. Barry's access was not equally granted by all the players, but he was sufficiently "in the room" and privy to frank discussion that he places the reader in the Congress during the end of a Speaker's tenure. This episode really marks the rise of Newt Gingrich, the end of Democrat control of the U.S. House, and profound changes in America. The book doesn't explain how it all came about. It does, however, live up to its title by showing how ambition and power collide. In this instance, ambition won. That Gingrich eventually suffered an ignominous political end is one of the great ironies of recent American politics.

This book is incredible in depth of research, interviews with key players in the House of Representatives, a balanced approached, and analysis. It reveals more of the inner workings of the House of Representatives than any other single source. A must read for anyone who wants to understand how the House works, and at the same time how Speaker Jim Wright lost the speakership.

Barry, who wrote for The New York Times, The Washington Post, and other publications, was allowed unbelievable access to former Speaker of the House Jim Wright's private meetings, and also got cooperation from then-back bencher Gingrich and others of Wright's enemies. The result is an absolutely brilliant study of how power works in Washington, inside the Congress, between the Congress and the White House, the media. Well-written and provocative, this book will give you an understanding of Washington like nothing else I have ever read. Ever since it came out (in 1989), I have been waiting for Edmund Morris's Reagan biography to get the other side of the story. If only Morris had done what Barry did. But Morris failed. Barry didn't.

I met one of the contributors (Micha) and heard him speak. I bought the book from him and read it. It was really great. It talks about the stuff that teens deal with.

If you need a book that deals with stuff that teens are going through, this is the book. It contains solid advice from motivational speakers from around the world. I suggest you read this book.

As a co-author to this book, I must admit I am biased. But, I would not have gotten involved if I did not think this is a book every teen must have. With a collection of youth speakers from across the United States, it is a collection of hilarious and touching stories from a variety of very different authors. I have a house under construction and I need information on windows types, heating and cooling appliance options as well as insulations. This book is over 5 stars. I borrowed a copy from a library and am planning to buy one for reference collections.

This book covers both the house itself (insulation, windows, etc.) as well as appliances, furnaces, and lightbulbs. Written in 1999, it lists major appliances, windows, furnaces, boilers, and air conditioners by brand name and model number in table format showing the energy ratings of each one. This saves you the time of running around town or making dozens of phone calls to collect this info.

It also explains all the information contained on energy labels when you go shopping. In particular, I found the section on windows most beneficial. It details what tests are done to obtain the ratings, which tests are most relevant and which ratings you should pay particular attention to, as there are several ratings on each window.

It also was bold enough to say which things you should be spending your money on and which things are nice to have but not absolutely necessary.

I bought this book from amazon for research into healthy houses and I skimmed it for my deadline. I'm reading it closely now. Well written, easy to read, detailed, comprehensive. Even if you haven't a speck of money for new appliances, much less a new heating system, you can save money on energy. It's small--you can fit in your bag to take to the appliance store, but it's packed with stuff. Well worth the price.

This prayer book is the best all around prayer book for daily personal (or even family)use. The Scriptures are addressed back to God and arranged by category (with direction to add certain categories of requests inbetween the sections). This adds structure to ones prayer life and breaks the monotony of "grocery list" praying. This one is a little longer than, "Praying the Scriptures for Spiritual Growth" or the "Simple Prayers" books; in my own personal devotions, it takes me about 7 minutes per daily prayer segment.

Boa has written several prayer books, all great, all solid. This is my favorite to date.

Many times when we pray we don't know where to get started, what to do, many times we just want a deeper prayer life.

This book will scripturally guide you through praying...not only the scriptures, but will guide you in praying for your world around you. It begins with praise and worship of Almighty God, leads you in a confession of Who He is, then guides you through personal renewal, petitions, intercession, and then a prayer of thanksgiving.

One of the things I liked best about this book was that it started out with each section, declaring the Word of God, then it guides you (differently each day) to pray for your leaders one day, your family the next, that you will be a faithful steward of your time and money, for God's wisdom...the list goes on and on.

Both this book and "Praying the Scriptures for Spiritual Growth" are two of the best prayer/devotional books I have ever used. If I could only keep two, these would be the two I would keep. Not only are they easy to follow, they are taken directly from the Word of God.

Face to Face is a wonderful tool to help you pray. Boa has assembled scripture into eight sections for each day. You pray through scripture for Adoration, Confession, Renewal, Petition, Intercession, Affirmation, Thanksgiving and Closing. It helps you focus and it gives a marvelous sense of the completeness of God's word. I do not recommend very many books but this is one that I would recommend to anyone. I have already given away 20 copies.

From Space To Earth: The Story Of Solar Electricity surveys the fascinating evolution of photovoltaics from its problematic and controversial nineteenth century beginnings to its outstanding technological success in the space program, to the indispensable and versatile role as a power source for contemporary daily life. More than the story of a technology, From Space To Earth is also a chronicle of the individuals who, for the most part unrecognized in the history of science) persevered, took chances, bucked authority, innovated, invented, and crusaded to provide humanity with an infallible power source in the form of solar cells and the safe, clean, renewable energy they provide for everything from satellite communication systems to hot water heaters for the home. Informative and thoroughly "reader friendly", John Perlin's From Space To Earth is highly recommended reading and an important addition to any academic or public library history of science collection.

Finally, here is a book about an environmental topic that isn't depressing. In fact, it's so uplifting that you may find yourself pumping your arm and cheering. Perlin keeps it light on the solid-state physics and instead chronicles the social, economical, and political issues surrounding the application of photovoltaics. He explains advances in technology clearly and with no jargon. This book should be highly enjoyable even for those who flunked P-chem.

As a Senior Pastor, I'm always on the look out for a book that can enhance my own personal prayer life, as well as those in my congregation. This is definitely the book! A "must read"! Not only does the book give practical "how-to's," but exhaustive illustrations as to how prayer can affect and change our lives, the lives of others, and even nations! I agree with Franklin Graham's review, the book "will challenge you to take seriously the spritual battle raging in the world around us..." Dr. Hill and John Robb have offered the world (particularly the Church) some wonderful tools to help us change our lives and this world through prayer. Thank you both very much! Having watched the development of this book, "The Peacemaking Power of Prayer" from the day Jim came home from Bosnia, all through his collaborations with his co-author, John Robb, there is a single foundational principle that re-occurs to me time after time: Prayer Changes Things. We have seen this over and over in our personal lives, and it comes through loud and clear in the book. "The Peacemaking Power of Prayer" will clearly demonstrate that not only is God interested in our individual lives, but He is interested in country-level issues as well. He tells us that if we humble ourselves and pray and seek His face that He will hear from heaven and heal our lands (2 Chron 7:14); and this book chronicles this in such countries as Bosnia, Cambodia, Rwanda, and Kosovo. It is a book which will encourage your hearts while also challenging your individual understanding of this mystery called prayer. Jim and John offer practical ways to come together and pray for countries and nationalities, and I know these principles work, for I have seen the results. Please consider reading through this book to further your understanding on what prayer is, and how the Lord uses it to accomplish His purposes. You will be glad you did.

The book "The Peacemaking Power of Prayer" is a call for all Christians to take a serious look at the wonderful gift of prayer. We seem to take for granted the opportunity to speak to the Creator and Sustainer of the universe over the everyday issues of life when we should be on our knees interceding for those whose lives are anything but everyday. What an eye opening glimpse at our responsibility and privilege to seek peace and restoration for people in countries so torn apart by years of hate and distrust. This book not only can be applied to countries in strife but individual lives that are torn apart and hurting. The simple yet powerful act of praying for God's intervention and healing is incredible. It is hard to believe and yet here is a book that chronicles that very thing. A must reading for anyone who wants to take an active part in peacemaking and needs encouragement to know that each individual has a voice with God.

Not a bad book, but the cover! Surely they could have given such a book a better cover than a bunch of trees.
Once you get over the disappointing cover, if you still feel mystical enough to read it, then there's some useful information on hermetics and golden dawn, spelled out quite simply. Good for beginners I would suggest.

I have one complaint with this book, and that is John Michael Greer's approach to the explination of the rituals he highlights in his book. They combine discussion with the steps, which I found more confusing than perhaps spliting each ritual into steps and then discussion of the steps. But this is hardly more than a gripe when you look at the way Greer has opened up magic in a real way. He doesn't hold back, letting people know what magic is really about and encouraging those who are truly interested in magical studies to dive in for themselves. Also, when supplemented with Paths of Wisdom, his book on the magical cabala, the full complexities of the Golden Dawn system becomes very accessible.

One the best, reader-friendly books on Qabalah and Golden Dawn magic. I would recommend it to anyone.

I am a Catholic, so I find this book to be very funny and entertaining. I never experienced the strifes with the nuns because I was in a modern setting (I am 17 now, so it wasn't long ago), but I understand the humor because I have heard stories of Catholic nuns. He plays with a lot of stereotypes in this book and makes it funny. The book is fast paced and has many funny stories of his childhood. A very entertaining read!

This book is a series of memoirs from a boy growing up in the far south-west area of Chicago known as Mt. Greenwood. It centers on his description of life as a Catholic boy going to a Catholic grammar school. Let me say here that I am a Protestant, but I grew up in this same neighborhood and had many Catholic friends so the situations were very familiar to me. The author's delema when he first learns about the different kinds of sins and his struggle to get through the week without sin in case he doesn't make it to confession is a sensitive but funny episode. All of the characters and places in this story are real, if described though the eyes of a boy, of course. If you grew up Catholic or grew up among Catholic children (or grew up in Mount Greenwood, Chicago) this is a must-read!

You'll laugh yourself silly with this book. Too bad it isn's available any more for purchase. I wanted to give a copy of it to a priest I know. He read the last book "The Unoriginal Sinner and the Icecream God" and used it in one of his homilies. I wanted him to have the full effect of the whole set. Guess I'll have to lend him my dogeared copy from MANY years past. I'd higly recomend this book as a comical look at many Catholic school childrens upbringing. Much of it is just plain silly, at other times, he hits it right on the nose. If you find it....BUY IT!!!!!

I gave my only copy away, thus some thoughts from memory! We are preparing the first national awareness and research-fundraising campaign for both Alzheimer's and Parkinson's, the two largest (and closely related) degenerative, neurological diseases. Sadly, after 4,000+ hours of my volunteer labor plus another 5,000+ hours of selfless contributions from 36+ volunteers nationwide, since August 1996, we have not found one organization that even comes close to believing or practicing "The Power of Two".
