As usual, these authors use the most expensive, luxurious yarns, but this time the results are not even worth a second look. Don't bother with this book. Unless your tastes are really wierd (or you are a University of Washington Husky fan) you won't want to make any of these murky, overwrought "concept" afghans. It's a pretty book, and maybe the recipes are OK. (Yes, recipes: "Salmon in Parchment with Wasabi Cream"!) As with their other books, though, the authors seem more interested in showcasing themselves, their store, their friends, and their lifestyle, than creating appealing designs. I've been more impressed with Herrschner's catalog.

This book will make you want you to get our your knitting needles, cook up a sumptuous dish, and enjoy your surroundings with friends and family! The knitting designs are the beautiful, elegant and SIMPLE creations we have come to expect from the team at Trictor. In addition, each pattern is presented as a novella - complete with contextual photographs, history of the design and its knitter, and a complementary recipe. There is great variety - baby shower "WOWs", traditional cables, stadium blankets, and elegant throws with faux fur and silk satin trim. Whether you ever knit a stitch, you will enjoy the visual and comforting appeal of this book.

This book is a guide to OOP implementation in VFP 3.0. It provides far more discussion and detail on this subject than any other book I have seen. I like that it does discuss the real-world issues that programmers must be concerned with, presenting the pros and cons of alternative approaches. It is aimed at a relatively advanced reader. The authors assume the reader has a full understanding of database programing in general and of the FoxPro language in particular.

I gave the book five stars because it has covered every aspect on how to build a stable application in even VFP 6.0. The writing in this book is clear and easy to understand. I just wish WROX would update it for latest version of VFP 6.0 and dive even deeper into the fundamental structure of VFP and OOP.

This book is the only book I've found that both includes in-depth coverage of object orientation and is specifically written for FoxPro programmers. The sample application ran fine for me under both 3.0 and 5.0. I recommend this book to all advanced FoxPro programmers that want to make the most of Visual FoxPro.

The book title tells it all: Ellie Janssen, the author, tells the story of how former husband David became successful as TV's Dr. Kimble during the 1960s. She highlights the factors contributing to the downfall of their marriage, particularly David's drinking and extramarital affairs. If you are a David Janssen or Fugitive fan, this book lends an interesting perspective, along with several rare photos. However, it is understandably subjective, as Ms. Janssen struggles to explain the tumultuous nature of her relationship with David. The book raises some suspicion as to the circumstances surrounding David's untimely death in 1980.

I have been waiting along time for this book and i really enjoyed it....I feel that Ellie and David made a lovely couple and it really touched my heart to read all the ups and downs that they went thur during their marriage. All 120 episodes of the tv series "The Fugitive" out shine the movie version, although Harrison Ford and Tommy Lee Jones were excellent. This book proves to be an insightful and significant look into the life of David Janssen. He died too young. I would like to hear more about how he REALLY died.

Counterpoint continually twists and turns the reader into new directions and unexpected events which both provoke and encourage. Presented with afterlife experiences, the reader is forced to confront his own mortality and finds comfort knowing that life doesn't end with physical death. A seemingly unresolvable dilemma is then presented, leaving the reader questing for more. I really liked the premise and found it both fascinating and enlightening.

J. Alfred Phelps not only is a great biographer, but also a master of fiction as proven in his latest novel, COUNTERPOINT. The reader is taken on a ride of fear, betrayal, and a journey to the other side. COUNTERPOINT is fascinating and impossible to put down. It is more than a story, it is an experience. A MUST READ!!!!

This is a first-class history book. Mr. Phelps covers all the bases beginning with the reformation, and continuing all the way to the present.

He uses endless sources, including sources that almost cannot be found in print. Some of these books, such as Cusack's "The Black Pope," cannot be found save in the complementary CD which comes with the book.

Although some of his claims are not backed up with direct evidence (such as that the government keeps hidden technology in Area 51), it is certainly plausible, and fits appropriately with the over conclusions.

Be aware, the Jesuits were the most evil people in history, and we have reason to believe there has been no change. Phelps develops this brilliantly. Be sure to study the Kennedy Assassination!

Vatican Assassins (VA) is a sweeping and sometimes daunting book. I really enjoyed it in spite of it's disturbing revelations, the author's sometimes awkward writing style and on occasion, his questionable conclusions. For anyone with an interest in world affairs - past, present & future - or the political ambitions of the Vatican (which Phelps argues is really one in the same) this is a valuable perspective to gather.

Phelps does a very good job illustrating the ubiquitous nature of Jesuit insidiousness throughout modern political, economic & cultural history. In highlighting the diabolical essence of the order, he sheds light on the unequivocal and nearly universal distain for the Jesuits by heads of state since their inception in the late 1500s. These include Napoleon Bonaparte (who, in his memoirs, called them a military order, not a religious one), Oliver Cromwell, George Washington and Abraham Lincoln.

Although the rational for many the arguments is well documented, I don't know if the veracity of all of the conclusions can be tested. The book contains endless quotes and citations, yet not everything comes together as tightly as I would have liked (at least after one read). That said, I still think Phelps is on target and proves more than enough of his points to be taken seriously.

The book is well organized however it covers so much territory it's easy to become overwhelmed. This is a function of the subject more than anything else. While it can be considered both an introductory text and more of an advanced study, the average reader will likely need to do additional reading and investigation outside of what Phelps gives (thus the reason for the several full length books included on the CD-ROM that comes with VA).

According to Phelps (and I think he makes his case) ignoring the Jesuits & the Vatican as a political, financial, cultural and spiritual force, is perilous to a free society and free people everywhere. Its a very timely read and is one of those books you'll want to read many times if you take the topic of world affairs (including economic/cultural globalization and the 'War on Terrorism') seriously at all. Definitely buy it.

There is much to recommend here, most importantly that a Woman writer, previously neglected, has been given a much needed and much deserved second look by an academic scholar. Unfortunately, the author of this study has little in the way of sensitivity regarding theories of the Other, of the way that Women of Color have been utilized (i.e., put to work) within the fictionizing strategies of white Women, and how contemporary scholars who are Women of Color are challenging the very heart, the very *center*, of his/herstorical discourses mediated by white males. The writer of this book is at some pains to show us her approach as one embodied by feminism, but it unfortunately tends to the usual 'white males don't understand this' and 'white males don't get that', etc., instead of informing us about what *Women* think of Elizabeth Stuart Phelps now and in the past. Perhaps if the author of this study were to broaden her approach to include the incredibly brave and special readings of bell hooks as well as more familiar figures such as Spivak and (Cornel) West, we might have had a more imperative study than the one we have. Nevertheless, this is a first attempt at a book-length scholarly approach to Phelps, and it is a welcome start.

This is a wonderful story of a young man's journey into manhood. The need for his father's love and approval propels Erik on a lifelong mission to fulfill this need. If you are looking for a feel-good read, look no further. I am looking forward to the next installment of young Erik's life, "The Absurdities of War".

Wheeler has written a comprehensive review which goes into considerable detail about Gibbs's scientific accomplishments, without using unnecessarily complicated language or mathematics. As a former student of Gibbs, Wheeler is well-placed to provide a detailed biography of a man of whom he had first-hand experience. But this closeness must raise questions as to how objective this book is: at times the biography might be overly-eulogistic. This book was first published in 1951. What is needed now is a modern, more objective work. Amongst Gibbs's contemporaries, for example, Lords Raleigh and Kelvin were critical of Gibbs's thermodynamics. This is not mentioned by Wheeler.
